  • Me too. I just joined the gym 3 days ago. I don't really know what kind of exercises to do or anything. I'm just now learning how to work the machines. I will probably stick to them a few more days until my copy of New Rules of Lifting for Women comes... I would suggest getting that book!
  • What he said. And I was in the same boat, and I realized I wasn't eating enough. 1200 calories after exercise isn't really a lot of fuel for your body. You shouldn't eat back ALL your calories but I'd recommend getting a little bit more in there, especially stuff with protein!
  • I don't know how accurate it is, but I log mine as circuit training in cardio since I do alternate cardio with strength most of the time. I just don't put the full amount of time I was working out, usually take a few minutes off to be safe. My 95 minutes a couple days ago came out to 706 calories.
  • I always walk about 4.0 mph on the treadmill and then turn it up to about 6 for a light jog for at least 15 minutes before doing any thing else. I do some stretching after the cardio. I need to work on some more stretching after the work outs though, I always forget.
  • Thank you. I am just getting used to all the machines, and figuring out what they all do. Planet Fitness offers a full body 30 minute circuit room that I plan to use Mon Wed and Fri. I have a pretty high endurance and I'm not terribly out of shape. Saturdays and Sundays will likely be my rest days.
  • I am not really trying to lose any weight, I really just want to tone. If I lose weight, okay, but I assume I will actually gain since muscle weighs more. I don't mind. I'm not obsessed with the scale. Thank you for the tips!

  • Also, I am tired often because I am anemic. I am working on that as well. I can't take the iron tablets because they make me feel sick and all I do is lay in bed. So that doesn't help my exercise.

  • I usually drink at least 4- 16oz bottles over the course of the day. I have half empty bottles in my bedroom, the kitchen and living room. (I hate cold water) so I don't know exactly. It may be more. I do also drink probably 3-4 cups of milk and a cup of orange juice every day as well.
  • I've throught about the maintenence thing. I'm not 100% sure. I'm pretty new to this. I joined 2 years ago almost, but stopped exercising about halfway through that and gained back 10lbs that I had lost. (My ticker had actually said that I had lost 20lbs, until I fixed it recently.)

  • I just read an article about how aspartame can cause multiple sclerosis type symptoms, with leg numbess/loss of feeling. Aspartame IS bad. Anything that is engineered, and not raw form from nature, is not a 'healthy alternative'.... The healthiest form of anything is straight from nature.

  • Well, most juices have High Fructose Corn Syrup, not to mention other preservatives and flavoring protectants... so yes, store bought juices do have much more sugar.
