  • I'm doing well! I've lost a couple pounds. Probably water and a bit of weight.. but I need to be accountable. How are you doing??
  • My goal today is to not go over my calories, and to make better choices of calories consumed.
  • It's really important to take weekly measurements. Because there are weeks where you will not lose any weight but you will lose inches. But it's also important to log every single thing you put in your mouth. Because well my fitness pal might not know your body does
  • you MUST mentally commit to a healthy lifestyle. this is not a diet, but a way of life. do not reward yourself with food. it is a short term gratification with long term negative results. Drink a glass of water and distract yourself.. get out of the house. instead of saying "I can't eat that" say. I "don't eat that!" I…
  • detoxing makes me cringe. your body knows what it's doing.. it has organs that have that specific job. All these short term fixes lead to no long term results. working out and watching what you eat every single day (clean diet) is the only way to stay healthy.
  • I love my core work. It's worth it. I have awesome abs.. all thanks to planks and a couple other ab exercises. That strong core makes everything else easier to do.
  • I have always had high cholesterol (thanks dad) over three different checks.. the first eating low fat. higher carb diet was my worst.. my best numbers?? Atkins/south beach.. meat cheese and nuts. and I finally had low cholesterol. just goes to show you that despite what doctors think they know.. they don't always. the…
  • I always tell myself.. , "Self... you worked SO hard to get here.. is this cookie/chip/drink REALLY worth it?" I will often take a nibble and then go get a glass of water or find something else to do. I have a party tonight and I know I will push the limit on my cals, but tomorrow I will be distracted and busy so I will…
  • I ate a WHOLE BAG of those mini peppermint patty pieces saturday. Just like a total oink oink. I just needed them that day. But. you know what? But like me, that was probably the norm for you before, whereas you actually feel BAD about it now...which means you DO care. Just like I do. You start fresh tomorrow... you don't…
  • i wish I knew where I saw it...but aspartame is just not good for you...I guess there are 3 sweetners that are okay'ed by the fda...splenda...steevia....and I can't recall the last. They did a study and showed that the risk of stroke doubled in people who drank diet popover regular pop.. now maybe there are other…
  • "ideal" is different for everyone... but I feel best when i'm very lean. My back and joints don't hurt, I sleep better..I have more energy. My "ideal" puts me at a 19-20 BMI roughly.....however I have a very thin frame. As soon as I start approaching 22 BMI I feel horrible...I can't explain it but maybe I make poor choices…
  • fill up a jug each morning, finish it before you go to bed each night. You have to drink...most "hunger" is really thirst....The crazy thing about water is when you start giving your body the water it needs...you WILL crave it when you are low and it is unmistakeable THIRST. try 6 cups for the next couple days.... then 8.…
in Water??? Comment by theresa7576 May 2011
  • when i'm in your shoes I say to myself, "Self.... all you have to do is half of your cardio. if after half you are still not feeling it..go home and shower and go to bed." I have left the gym 3 times in my life where I wasn't "feeling it" Once you get going you almost always feel better....endorphines get released and you…
  • have a glass now and again..dont let it make up more than 10-15% of your caloric intake...otherwise you are depriving your body of what it needs to build muscle, prvide energy etc. drinking calories is a total waste. Try to not make a habit of it....we all need to cut loose once in a while...but I have to admit that…
  • i get the heck away from the kitchen. I have 100 cals left, so I grab a tall ice tea and retire to the bedroom with my laptop. I don't leave till morning. If I have to eat something a bag of 100 cal popcorn or a big salad with a light dressing... btw I hate that starving feeling- it happens to all of us.
  • But you ARE losing weight! You are building muscle.. and as you build that dense heavy muscle, you lose that lumy space hogging fat... so for every 2 lbs of fat you dump.. if you gain two of muscle.. you lose inches and see nothing on the scale. look at the way your clothes fit- they don't lie. The scale measures weight..…
  • Seriously? YOU GO GIRL. Amazing job.. you should be proud!!!
  • I used to pop a bag of the 100 calorie popcorn... mix up a small drizzle of 1 tablespoon of country crock cinnamon and splenda... (or cocoa powder) and drizzle on the popcorn and shake it up. it adds a few calories.. but satisfies both salty and sweet :) I also force mysel to finich 8-10 ounces of water before I dive into…
  • mind reader! I love those too! Amazing that by dropping the bread cheese and mayo that you havea great meal for under 200 cals.
  • this exactly.
  • I calculate myself as sedentary and take any extra activity as a bonus that I burn off.... I see what you are saying but If you want to look at the big picture and that is how your week is every single week, then look at it as you need 9000 calories a week or whatever.... Just like people think they can take a day off of…
  • I try to avoid too many white carbs, but I also avoid fatty meat and cheeses... I try to eat very lean; chicken fish veggies etc. I treat myself once in a while... but I need somethign I can live with- and the quick fixes always got me in trouble- best of luck with your choice!
  • this was very helpful http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/230930-starvation-mode-how-it-works thank you very much for finding and sharing.
  • i get 1300 calories a day. When I exercise, I eat a good portion of those back... I don't feel I have really lost anything yet. I'm set up to lose a pound a week and I don't think I have. Granted it has been only 3 weeks. I just know that a long time ago when I lost weight I was not eating very much at all.. and I dropped…
  • in defense of not eating them all back... you don't know for SURE how many calories you burned...... so I'm one ofthe people that feel that shouldn't eat every single one back.... half yes... alll.. I don't think so.
  • 5 a week is NOT healthy.. 5 the first week is water. Tell him to lose 5 pounds next week if he thinks it is so easy.
  • I think you should try to focus on a 24 hr period.. because a "day" is relative to what you are measuring it against. You could count calories per week if you want... but I think a day is choosen becuase it is manageable. KWIM?
  • It is very hard to stay motivated!! Why do you think there are diet "pills" cause everyone wants a quick easy fix. Not saying this is you.. but just saying that if it were easy, everyone would be thin and diet food wouldn't be a billion dollar industry. Try changing up the type of excercise you do, surprise your body...…
