  • I was 303 when I started doing Zumba and got down to 148. I fell away from good, healthy habits over the holdays so now I'm back up 15# so back to basics! Zumba works if you stick with it-for me it never felt like working out.
  • To WALKDMC... If you decide you don't want to keep it let me know and I'll buy it from you for what you paid on ebay + shipping. By butt looks like a shar-pei after losing 155# so I really need all the help I can get!
  • For ZUMBA you want dance shoes and cross trainers and running shoes can cause your ankles to hurt in Zumba. I purchased Nike Mystique's online for $30.00 - check out EBAY too. FYI - I do Zumba twice a week.
  • Lady GaGa is great to walk to - has a beat that keeps you moving quickly. Also have Bon Jovi, Katie Perry & lots of 80's.
  • If it's made with chemicals it's not from nature. Truvia is made from the stevia plant and has no chemical additives. Splenda is chemical city! Might as well have Aspartame...
  • I am not on any specific diet but I do not eat carbs with the exception of beans/legumes or "slow" carbs. I eat a very high protein diet to stay in ketosis while I'm losing but also because after WLS you have to keep your protein up to 80+ grams a day.
  • My 11 year old daughter and I did it last night and it was a great burn! We were both sweating. I started out with a 5# kettlebell and she's using a 3# free weight. She is a gymnast and in really great shape for almost 12. Hoping to keep her that way after she hits puberty...;) I took my measurements and will continue with…
  • Take a look at the 4 Hour Body by Tim Ferris - he has a website as well. This guides you through "slow" carbs that burn differemtly in your body. It really works! I'm having eggs and black beans for breakfast as we speak!
  • I haven't tried the ones made from Konjac root yet - only the tofu shirataki. They are tasteless unless you put them with seasonings or some type of sauce. I'm actually having some today with my teriyaki chicken breast for lunch. For being pretty much a free filler food with none of the "devilish" traits of carbs I'm going…
  • OK...no one come to hunt me down after reading this....I did do the HCG through my physician and under a weekly management program with him. I drove 120 miles round trip every week and paid for the protocol out of pocket because insurance did not cover it. I stuck to the program like glue because I really needed for…
  • Yes...you can do an internet search - I found it on EBAY for around $7 new. It is called "Shred It With Weights"
  • If I eat any pasta ever it's whole grain...however...for me pasta is a "trigger" carb. I can't get enough so I have no filter. I recently found Konjac Noodles otherwise known as Shirataki Noodles. These are made from the Konjac root which is in the yam family. There are no carbs, no fat, no sugar and no…
  • I just got it and am starting it this week. I will let you know what I think. I have both regular weights and 5-15# kettlebells.
  • EAS AdvantEdge Rich Dark Chocolate! 17g protein & 6 g carbs...110 cals. They are delicious!
  • I go out walking every morning and I have a lot of Lady GaGa as she has some good beats to walk to and move...fast!
  • Hi Vanessa... I agree with the first poster - a stability ball is a great place to start because strengthening your core is super important and it's an easy way with very low impact. You can incorporate your weights with the ball as well. I have dumbbells as well as kettlebells-both are great but different. At this point…
  • I just bought Jillian Michael's kettlebell 3 weight set, 5, 10 & 15#'s from Walmart. Was under $40. for the set. have her DVD ...Shred With Kettlebells. You can also use free weights with this workout. I was able to do the beginning level with no problem at all.
  • I started a women's walking group on saturday mornings at my church. it is announced every Sunday and is in the bulletin. We go for about an hour and depending on where everyone's fitness level is we may walk through the neighborhood or get more advanced and add in hills. It's a great way to fellowship and get to know…
  • The step raise is great but to add some excellent definition after doing your set of 10 with your toes pointed straight ahead turn them inward (pigeon toes) and do 10 more reps then outward and 10 more...you will get an excellent burn and this will really help shapen and define your calves.
  • I have done the DVD's and I really prefer the class with the instructor over the DVD's. The class is really a fun and energetic atmosphere and as one of the other poster's said-all different sizes, ages & even men attend. It's really high energy and you get to just have fun and laugh-never feels like a workout but boy do…
  • I have lost 116# so far and have 30-40 left to lose. I spoke with my surgeon about this very subject just last week. He told me to wait until a year out and then do each procedure individually as the healing would be faster and less chance of complications over doing a larger area or multiple areas at the same time. For…
  • People are afraid of what they don't understand. How can anyone NOT want to eat at the "All American McDonald's" after all...it's the first branding toddlers recognize...the golden arches... We have been eating a "fast-food-free" lifestyle for 2 years now with the exception of Subway. Our kids do not have weight problems…
  • Look into "Ceylon Cinnamon". It's different from the grocery store ground cinnamon you can pick up for a couple bucks a jar. It has amazing qualities related to insulin and diabetes. You can purchase it at most health food stores - even online as well. Just make sure you ask for CEYLON CINNAMON.
  • My husband and I make our own sushi...yes you can use cooked fish if raw is not your thing. Also, Ahi Tuna Steaks - we buy them at Sams Club - you get 6 4oz steaks that pack 27g protein and only 140 cals. We marinate them in teriyaki and quick grill them. You want them pink in the middle or they are chewy...(found that one…
  • Currently walking 3-4 miles 5X days a week and kayaking on the lake 3 miles a day on any day it's not raining...Happy to join in with you! Best of luck!
  • If you're going to an instructor taught class you are going to have a BLAST! I go twice a week and it is awesome!!! You can burn 600-1000 cals per hour and have so much fun you won't believe it's exercise. If you decide you like it I recommend investing in some dance sneakers so you don't injure your knees. I bought Nike…
