What is your favorite low cal high protein food?

Options
Hi there, I’m trying to be more cut – Perhaps, down the road maybe... trying... to compete figure and I learned I need to WAY up my protein. I prefer food over shakes and I’m getting tired of the no seasoning no fat boiled chicken breast or the baked/broiled fish/steak rounds, and the 0 % fat Greek yoghurt and skim milk (for my coffee) but it just is BORING. I need variety!! What is your most yummy low cal no extras high protein food that I could try out? I'm on a low sodium diet, too, so please nothing too salty.:smile:

    Egg beaters! I also love cottage cheese with some fruit and maybe splenda, but I think it has a little more in the way of sodium.

    I like tuna pouches, fat free cottage cheese, I will also get a bag of frozen fish from the grocery store and keep that in the freezer. It is great in the microwave or broiler with some lemon juice squeezed on it!

    Quinoa!

    I vote this one as a WONDERFUL option!

    Other high protein sources;
    Vegan meats like "bacon" or "Canadian bacon" by Yves- low in calories, super high in protein! Downside - they're processed.

    Other whole food sources I would suggest may not be so low in calories, but are wonderful sources:

    Beans & Legumes
    Nuts & seeds
    Soy (edamame in the pod), soy nuts (roasted, unsalted)
    eggs
    quinoa (as suggested above)

    Check this link out for High Protein foods.. it shows the amount as well.

    Maybe I start playing around with soy. But it doesn't taste good if no salt is added :frown:

    Greek yogurt. I like to get the little 5 oz containers of plain Dannon Greek Yogurt and add two teaspoons of Ranch Dressing Mix Powder...it has 15 grams of protein and 100 calories!! I like to dip Cauliflower or Light Ruffles for my mid-afternoon or evening snack.

    Hmm, could be! Usually I just use the cooked cocktail shrimp - let it thaw in a bowl of lemon water, drain it and add some spices.

    My husband and I make our own sushi...yes you can use cooked fish if raw is not your thing. Also, Ahi Tuna Steaks - we buy them at Sams Club - you get 6 4oz steaks that pack 27g protein and only 140 cals. We marinate them in teriyaki and quick grill them. You want them pink in the middle or they are chewy...(found that one out the hard way...) so delicious and my kids even love them!
