I gained 10 lbs after small changes - more cream in my coffee, an extra beer, etc. I really didn't notice I had changed my diet until my pants were getting tighter and I weighed myself. Now I am tracking more closely again and weighing more frequently. One suggestion, a cheap scale with a body fat measure will help clear…

Count me in - I need more motivation!

I've been a member of crossfit for 2 years. Although it is more expensive than typical gyms, you receive daily hands-on coaching, which you never get in a gym. The workouts are always varied and you never get bored. I think it is worth every penny.

Bob Harper has his DVDs on sale for $5 a piece and they rock. You can use light weights or simply body weight. He also has them set up for 60 minute sessions or shorter 10-15 minute sessions if you need to fit it in around your baby. I strongly recommend them.

I just PR'd at 200 lbs.

I had the same problem - my strap had worn out. A new strap fixed the problem and wasn't too expensive.

Bob Harper has a few series of DVD's - all have beginner levels/shorter routines along with advanced routines once you are able. The DVDs are often on sale for $5 each so it makes it easy to work out at home until you feel ready to join a group. I highly recommend them. His beginner DVD and a set of 4 Inside Out Method…

I have noticed my Polar often goes on and off during a workout, sometimes going well over a possible heart rate. Keep an eye on your readings during a workout to make sure it stays within a reasonable range. If its over 160 and you aren't even sweating, it is not properly connected or your band is too loose.

I have his set of 4 Total Body Transformation DVD's and they are awesome - extremely challenging but a great workout. I just ordered his set of 4 newest DVD's yesterday - they are on sale for $24 with free shipping this week. I would totally recommend his DVDs over Jillian's!

I have his set of 4 DVD's and find that they all provide a killer workout. Really challenging! But each DVD also has a shorter workoutl as a way to workup to the hour long workout or if you are short on time. Well worth the money.

I have the Bob Harper DVDs - they are fantastic. They are also currently on sale for $24 for 4 DVDs (http://www.mytrainerbob.com/store/home.php?cat=251&sort=orderby&sort_direction=0&page=1). The hour-long workouts are intense but he also offers shorter and easier versions on the DVDs if you are just beginning. if you want…

We have a weight watchers scale that also calculates body fat. It corresponded very closely to the measurements my husband had done while competing in a gym weight loss program, both at the beginning and after a significant weight loss.

5'1" - add me too!

Since the activity level varies so much throughout a typical crossfit workout, I wear a heart rate monitor to track my calorie burn and enter it under cardiovascular activity regardless of the WOD.

I too have severe asthma. My treatment includes daily singulair, nasacort, symbicort, allegra, and albuteral (when needed). Each month I also have to get 2 immunotherapy shots and a xolair injection. Medrol is added during more severe flares (which always leads to weight gain). Needless to say, the treatment is expensive…

I fell of the MFP wagon for a few weeks. But I refound my motivation and am back at it. Solpwr - I love your pictures!

I've been MIA as well. Even though my attempts to be less of a lush are less than successful, my workouts have been brutal. I measured myself this week and compared it to measurements taken in March. Despite only a few pounds lost, I have lost 14 inches around my waist, hips, and back! Carry on lushes. If the diet and…

I had been feeling awful because my scale hadnt moved in months. But when I took my measurements I had actually lost 13 inches around my midsection (waist, back, hips) during the same time period! The scale does not reflect your improved level of fitness.

Kim, I agree the Warrior Dash was really hard due to all the hills. Today I am covered in numerous large bruises from the obstacles and quite sore, but am happy to have completed it. Now back to focusing on better eating and less drinking habits!

Warrior Dash on Sunday so no drinking tomorrow. Today I did 65 minutes of a strength DVD then ran 2.5 miles of hills in preparation. Now I am enjoying a well-earned glass of wine.

Any hints for surviving the course would be appreciated. I'm competing this Sunday and am a bit nervous but also very excited.
