I got a polar ft7 sometime last year. And for the past two weeks, its been going crazy which is so annoying. i have changed batteries, washed strap, but nothing. once i want it to tart measuring my heart rate, it just goes straight to 236, before i even start working out. and it stays therre through out.

any advice? I cant return it cos i live in africa, and had to pay someone abroad to help me buy it and send down from uk, and she has currently relocated from the uk

I haven't used a polar, so I'm not much help there. However, for my body bugg and garmin, the companies have a website that includes forums and customer support. I would look to see if Polar has some online customer support and see if they can help.

Also, search online for a way to do a 'hard reset.' Usually this involves pushing several buttons at the same time - sometimes pressing and releasing in a specific order. This may enable the watch to reinitialize and fix the problem. I've had to do this with apple products and my garmin watch on occasion.

    Good luck!

It sounds like you need another wearlink. :/

I have a Polar and have had that happen. It's usually because the strap is too loose so it's not picking up your true HR. I've got a safety pin in the strap now to hold it secure and have had no more problems! See if that helps!

I had the same problem - my strap had worn out. A new strap fixed the problem and wasn't too expensive.
