Fish sauce for salt and umami. Also, lemons and limes. Most dishes need a hit of acid to balance everything, so I try to keep them in my kitchen at all times.

Lap swimming is not about holding your breath. Exhale when you face goes underwater (i.e. blow some bubbles) and only inhale when your face comes out of the water. It is the same regardless of which stroke you are doing. Face in = only exhale. Face out = only inhale. Once you can figure out that rhythmic breathing pattern…

If I need to cut a few calories, I will make tuna melts with all the mayo that I want, but instead of bread I will put it on slices of tomato or zucchini, then top with cheese and broil. They are super tasty and filling that way.

Perfect! Thank you!

Call up local fishmongers or specialty seafood stores and ask. Sometimes they can order in specific ones for you. Another easy roll you can do uses frozen torpedo shrimp (the long breaded ones). I line up two of them (facing each other so the tail sits outside the roll) and add cucumber, avocado, etc. It ends up being…

I made a quick sauce with chili paste, peanut butter, sesame oil and lime juice. Toss the noodles in with whatever veggie you want. Throw some green onions or peanuts on top. Yum!

Saute some garlic and mushrooms. Throw in some cooked lentils (I used canned for this since they are fast and hearty). Top with poached eggs and maybe some Parmesan. I was amazed at how well this came together. Some times I will add a chopped potato to the mix as well.

Take advantage of the coupon/cashback offers to stretch your grocery budget. My grocery store offers me points (which I can redeem for credit at the store), plus price matching. A good price matching app will help make that easier. Then on flush weeks, or when you find a good deal, buy things and freeze it in individual…

Zucchini Butter Grate it, salt it, squeeze it. Then cook it low in some olive oil for a while. It eventually turns to a butter-like consistency. Spread on a baguette and enjoy.

Blend it! I discovered that it is really the texture I hate and not necessarily the taste. Once blended you can add anything you want - cinnamon, cocoa, onion dip mix, ranch powder, roasted garlic, etc.

If you are making your coffee at home (or have access to a blender/bullet mixer at work), try blending the protein powder with enough liquid (either milk or coffee) so that it mixes. I do this with my iced coffees. It seems to help the texture quite a bit.

Pureed white beans ... maybe with some lemon juice, garlic and rosemary. Mmmm

Add an egg and some breadcrumbs to make a patty (like a crab cake). Like a cheap and fast chicken burger

You can still do good things with wonton wrappers. They steam really well, so you can make easy dumplings out of them.

Just my primary care dr for now, but this sounds like a good idea. Thank you.
-
No, I will need to ask for that too.

Haha, yep! Internet searching doesn't seem to be helping. I have a high pain tolerance but it's really bad right now. Like a sharp pain right under my belly button right now.
-
Interesting. I eat a lot of yogurt and seafood, which are high in B12. Yes! It feels like a ring of sharp spasming pain.
-
Thank you everyone. Fatty foods actually seem to make it better, as strange as that sounds. There doesn't seem to be any connection with food. I can have literally eat the exact same things two days in a row and only have pain on one of them. I think the most likely options would be endometriosis or hiatal hernia. Going to…
-
Yeah, I had an ultrasound to look for cysts just in case. Hiatal hernia is definitely something that has caught my eye too. Going to try to push for an ultrasound of my chest perhaps. Thanks!

Yes, thank you. We've explored most of them. The only thing I can think of is that IBS is related to running, but normally that is during or immediately following the run and not in the evening. I've experimented carefully with foods and nothing seems linked to it.

Turkey chili! High protein, lower cal and delicious.

I blend cottage cheese, then add honey and cinnamon. Sort of a dessert dip. Or spread on toast. I've also blended it in to waffle batter and biscuit dough.

What about leaving a dryer sheet in your gym bag? That should help with the smell

Make sure you are breathing properly. Fully exhale when your face is submerged and then take a moderate (not large) sized breath when your face comes up. I've seen people double their distances (albeit beginners) by doing this. Swimming is largely about rhythm. If you take too large of a breath or try to hold your breath…

I was once told to stand in very cold water as it supposedly draws the blood/heat from your head. I haven't managed to try it yet. Normally when I am out with a migraine I don't really feel like moving, never mind standing in cold water!

I get them sometimes, but not because I am "out of shape." I get them mainly due to stress. Caffeine can cause them too sometimes. As long as everything else feels good then you should be alright. If you have any trouble breathing, pain in your chest, etc then see a dr immediately. But from what I know they are fairly…

Um...yes mixed together! Haven't tried it yet but it sounds insanely satisfying
