Thanks everyone. I will have to look over the list of high protein foods. I am 5'5" 170 lb and lucky if I hit 60 g protein. I do eat meat, mostly poultry and eggs.

Made it through May AF. Had some wine last night. Going to a family gathering tomorrow. I may have one drink but don’t want to have more.

I take metformin for type 2 diabetes. It has not helped with weightloss. There are medications that suppress appetite, but like you mentioned, you have to go off them eventually. If you have insurance some plans help with coaching or gym memberships. You sound like you don’t want to take a medicine. You can refuse or ask…

Having a trying week. I so want to drink and relax, but I am trying for a month AF.

Nice to meet you. I am 58F with type 2 diabetes. I wrote a long post but it disappeared. You can do this! Have you seen a dietician.? They may be able to guide you with nutrition. The American Diabetes Association has a website with information . Just by losing weight my numbers improved some. I did not take diabetes…

AF May. There is alcohol in the house which may be tempting. I usually don't have it here but I bought too much the last time. I plan to distract myself if I get urges.

I went shopping and fit in regular (not plus size)

Working now. Not sure how many times I disconnected and reconnected

I am not familiar with other than Fitbit. I was gifted a Fitbit Sense watch. I like that it gives you average spO2 overnight. I just wish it would give readings over time but I have sleep apnea and my oxygen can drop at night. There are a variety of watch faces. I think it does all you are looking for and if you know how…

My Fitbit will sync but does not change calorie goal. iPad and android

Nice to meet you all. I plan to weigh in weekly, I lose slowly. My goal is 1lb/week but I will be happy with anything. I am currently using Weight Watchers app which is point based, but I may go back to tracking calories. Just trying to find something that works for me. I am in Orange County, CA 58 years old tomorrow.…

There have been syncing issues, mine is working now. There is a Fitbit group, too. Have you tried connecting? It is under apps.

Mine is working now

Yes, if you are under the calorie limit you will lose weight, and it sounds like it was unusual for you. This is a link on the Twinkie diet where a professor ate mostly junk food and lost weight. http://www.cnn.com/2010/HEALTH/11/08/twinkie.diet.professor/index.html

Maybe your dr can refer you to a dietician? Also, American diabetes association has a webpage. You don’t have to go very low carb, but small portions. If you have a meter you can check how your body responds after certain foods. I have type 2 and did not take it seriously for years. Fortunately it is pretty well controlled…

I am type 2 diabetic. I was in a keto program through my insurance for a year. My glucose was great but it was hard for me to stick to. I like sweet things, like fruits. I went off around the holidays and never got back to it. It was very low carb fats to satiate, moderate protein. I did not lose much weight, either and i…

Hi. I have been moderating my drinking for over a year. I tried AA but it wasn’t for me and at this time I don’t want to abstain completely. I feel good, get more done, and am not as tired when I am sober, and it is good for my health. But, I do like the feel of a buzz. We don’t keep alcohol in the house. If I plan to…

Thanks everyone. I ended up signing up for the 6 month plan with workshops. I went to a kickstart virtual meeting. I plan to go in person on Fri. The points do guide you to healthier choices.

I am trying to decide on which plan. The website suggested digital. How does that compare with in person, besides price

Hello. I am thinking of joining WW. They have a deal right now. Are counting points easier than counting calories? How is the WW site to use? Is it worth the expense. I tried calorie counting and lost some but I don’t want to be tracking all of the time. I did keto, which was great for my diabetes but I find it…

Thanks for the clarification. Maybe I am the only one who gets confused by terms sometimes. Please disregard my post.
-
For people confused by terms 16:8 is 16 hr fast with 8 hr eating window, OMAD is one meal a day. 5:2 is eating regular meals 5 days, restricting calories 2 days/week.
-
I find it confusing. Proponents of IF say you want to fast until insulin goes down so you can burn fat. (image) There was a study comparing same calorie consumption but one group did every other day fast, in lean individuals. Both groups lost weight but the non fasting group lost more fat.…

I think part of you does care or you wouldn’t have posted. You mention your health, have you seen a dr recently? Did you feel deprived before? You can still eat the same foods, just smaller portions. I understand about needing motivation and I have been at the not caring stage before. I do have health issues and they would…
