  • I am not a Catholic, but my religion practices monthly fasts and I still observe them. Spiritual fasts have been a great way for me to regroup and give my body a break. I hope you enjoy yours!
  • Have you tried rice milk or soy milk? My favorite "milk" in the whole world next to regular is Silk Light Original.
  • A GREAT book about diet and digestion. Called "You Are What You Eat". It's probably the way you're eating that is making you gassy and constipated. If you don't have enough fiber in your diet, or enough nutrients in general, a low carb diet is going to play bad games with your belly. Low carb diets are not healthy. They…
  • Truth. Our "normal" diet is why so many of us need sites like MFP! :)
  • This is an excerpt from Web MD... "When people develop a salt craving that is new, increased, or persistent, it can be a sign of underactive adrenal glands (adrenal insufficiency). The adrenal glands secrete hormones that help regulate the balance of salt and water in the body. Other symptoms of adrenal insufficiency…
  • I rarely use the community section for that reason. I read the initial thread but I rarely bother to read the responses because there are a lot of rude and ignorant people out there. I also try to refrain from using this site as a dating site or a way to meet people...and I have seen others get involved in that. My…
  • Fiber and protein are going to keep you full. I have the same issue and I realized a couple of things: 1. MFP's projections of your total calorie intake could be a little off and maybe a little low. And you NEED to eat ALL of your calories. Get your deficit from exercise, not from under eating. 2. Find your RMR (Resting…
  • I second this list!! There are so many great ways to get proteins in your diet. A GREAT recipe app is the Whole Foods Recipe app...and their recipes have a lot of balances meals. Good luck! I eat a fairly restricted meat diet (I don't eat red meat or pork, as they tend to be the most processed) but I do eat fish and…
  • Why do you need 150g of protein a day!? Unless you are a heavy lifter or body builder, that is wayyyy too much, especially if you are getting that protein from processed meats, cheeses, and dairy.
  • My favorite bread is Dave's Killer Bread or Ezekiel. It is REAL bread, made with 100% whole wheat flour (or no flour at all in some kinds...) and has lots of nuts and seeds. I only eat a slice of bread a day, but it is super yummy and full of fiber, protein and healthy fats. So yes, eat bread, but eat good hearty bread. :)
  • This looks yummy! I'm going to have to try it! I've made a couple of other things with cauliflower before and they are normally quite good! Thanks for sharing!
  • I like RAW Cocoa flavored...it's chalky but it tastes good. I blend it with some soy or almond milk and I'm good to go!
  • Well I'm not too far off from you! I'm 228, 5'4 and 241 lbs (but started at 244) and my goal weight is 150 lbs.
  • I have a little under 100 to lose but I would love to be support to you! Feel free to add me!
  • That is AWESOME. Can you share your story? What were your challenges and what worked/didn't work for you?
  • I think the reason it works it because it keeps your heart rate in the "fat burning" zone. If you pump it up and stay there, you're getting a good cardio workout for sure, but not necessarily burning fat...our bodies seem to respond the best to variety.
  • Can I share your post on my website? I am looking for great and inspirational content (it's called Wellness Women) and I would love to show women a different side to taking care of our bodies! GREAT JOB! You look awesome!
  • I have found that exercise helps me lose weight in my mid section the fastest...especially yoga! I dropped a pants size and barely lost any weight doing The Biggest Loser weight loss yoga at least 3-4x week. Good luck!!
  • You look great! That gives me hope. I feel like I'll never get under 190lbs ever again but I know I can. What have you been doing to lose the weight?
  • I'll be your friend and support! I am 5'4 and weigh WAY more than 180! :( I gained 40 lbs last year when I met my now husband (eating out and not working out took its toll fast!) Best of luck to you!
