  • I used to have a bad impression of PF until I moved to an area where there are very few offerings. I did deadlifts today with no issues and we actually have a PF360 area with battle ropes and medicine balls and kettle bells and other functional training equipment. There is a good mix of people at my gym and the staff is…
  • I wear a heart rate monitor to Zumba and I am 44, 5'6" and 148 pounds. I work pretty hard (I do all of the higher intensity jumping and whatnot) and I usually burn 475 calories in a 60 minute class. HRMs are getting fairly inexpensive and they will give you a much better idea of your personal calorie burn. I don't wear…

  • I have been having knee issues too. I went to an orthopedist (which I highly recommend) and he referred me to a Physical Therapist after seeing only inflammation in an MRI. The PT watched me run and saw that I was landing on my heels instead of my midsole. We are correcting my running form, but some other tips are to make…
  • Thank you both for your suggestions!
  • I currently weight 164 and I wear a heart rate monitor during spin class. I consistently burn between 550-600 calories per class.
  • You will have so much fun at the color run. None of the ones that I have participated in have been timed. If you have blonde hair, be sure to cover it. I wore a hat. One of my friends had green hair for a few weeks. The powder gets EVERYWHERE-inside ears and toes. Don't wear anything that you want to keep "safe". Enjoy!
  • I only crave sweets during my PMS window, but when those cravings hit-watch out! I try to have fat free chocolate pudding and tootsie pops (only 60 calories) on hand, but honestly sometimes I just have a bit of the real thing. I try not to keep snacks in the house, so I actually have to go somewhere and GET the treat.…
  • I've seen the 3 episodes so far and I am definitely torn. I say good for her for dancing and not letting her weight prevent her from doing what she loves, but on the other hand she can't really be upset for getting "hate mail" if you are going to allow camera crews to film your life. Like others I am not sure to what…
  • To each his or her own. I'm there to work out not check out others. Although the guy in my spin class that wears his full body "onesie" gets a few chuckles from the ladies.
  • I'm a sweater and so are both of my kids. Like others have said...at the gym who cares? I use a towel (sometimes 2) and if I'm not going right home afterwards I bring a change of tops. My son is in great shape and sweats a ton. He has to hang his clothes to dry after working out because it looks like he wore them in the…
  • been arrested. lived alone. had a broken bone.
  • You look amazing! Such a huge amount of progress already. Congrats!
  • I second Dr. Oz. He gives loads of great advice. Have you tried Garcinia Cambogia yet?
  • 5'6" and currently 150 pounds in a size 4/6 depending on the brand. I'd like to lose 13 pounds and be back comfortably in a size 4 in all brands. My thighs are the killer for me. Weight training seems to make them bigger. Good luck and try not to focus too much on the scale. It's an evil piece of equipment for sure!
  • I LOVE the Riviera Maya! I've been there 4 times in the last year and a half (once for my honeymoon). I do relax a little bit when I go on vacation, but I still log my food and amp up the exercise. I like to get the arrachera, which is a beef flank steak with seasoning. For me it's like fajitas without all of the extra…

  • I finally finished Stage One (the regular workouts) last night. I started on February 4th and finished on March 10th. I still have to do the AMRAP workouts, but I'm excited to compare my starting and ending weights. I had to use all dumbbells for the workouts because I couldn't get to a gym and had to lift at home, so my…

  • I lost all of my weight first through cardio (with a 1200 calorie diet + exercise calories). I got down to 127 (I'm 5'6") and was a size 2/4 and then started lifting heavy. I gained back 10 pounds over the course of 3 months, but I still wore the same jeans. In my opinion (as someone who has been where you are) you have to…
  • I agree with everyone else. Do it for yourself. Most people either won't notice you or will think "good for her". I trained for 2 marathons at 180-190 pounds. People were so supportive on the course.
  • I would try adding some strength training into your workouts. That is going to give you definition and the tighter look that you want. There are a lot of great programs available. A lot of people like Stronglifts because it is easy for beginners and free. There are a lot of programs on www.bodybuilding.com. I'm currently…
  • The purpose of my rest days are to rest the muscles that I'm trying to grow. My rest days personally mean no strength training. Otherwise it could be running a 5k, biking 20 miles on a trail, or Redbox. It just depends. I think the important thing is to not work the same muscle groups day after day.
  • If your friends say things like that, then i would hate to hear what people who are not your friends say. If I don't have anything nice to say to someone, then I don't say anything. I would NEVER tell someone they looked like a cancer patient. Crazy! We all have different perspectives on how we want to look. You need to…
  • I'm currently 148 and in a size 6. I'd like to get down to 136 and back into a size 4. I got down to 127 and a size 2, but it was too hard for me to maintain. I let myself get all the way up to a size 20 and have been every size from a 2-20. I really liked how I looked when I was a size 4. I tend to carry a lot of muscle,…
  • I have it on my Kindle and haven't had a problem using it in the electronic version. I didn't want to wait for the book to ship to get started. I probably would have preferred the hard copy so I could bring the book to the gym when starting the new stages to double check that I am doing the exercises right. Honestly though…
  • So funny that I found this today. I was just trying to tell myself that a size 6 is great. I started at a 20 and got down to a 2, but couldn't maintain that size long term. I think my body is just built to be a size 6. It was what I was in high school and it seems that I can maintain this. I just need to convince myself…
  • I started at 232 and got down to 127, but it was too hard to maintain. I had surgery last summer and lost a lot of my strength and fitness level. I'm currently at 148 and want to get down to 136-137. I added my starting picture to my profile pictures, but can't add them here since I am at work.
  • I am not a personal trainer yet, but I am in the process of studying to become one. According to my reading, the first step before someone even begins the actual training process should be some sort of intake form (discuss health issues and sign a release) and doing fitness assessments. Then you and the trainer articulate…
