Bikini Body?

Hello everyone :)

My name is Danielle. I am 5'3" and weigh 118. I am skinny but have some tummy pudge. I am going to FL in May and I want to get a bikini body this year.

I have no idea where to start or what exercises to do. 30 day shred or zumba?

I know I need to change my diet and that will be hard.

Any tips?

I would try adding some strength training into your workouts. That is going to give you definition and the tighter look that you want. There are a lot of great programs available. A lot of people like Stronglifts because it is easy for beginners and free. There are a lot of programs on www.bodybuilding.com.

I'm currently doing New Rules of Lifting for Women (not free-you have to buy a book) and have seen progress.

It's very hard to say "you should do this" because everyone is different, but don't be afraid of the weights. It will take about 1-2 months to see a change, but you will see it. You will also have to train yourself to not solely rely on the scale. Take measurements with a tape measure and go by how your clothes fit.

Check out the group Eat Train Progress. Lots of helpful advice there. Good luck!

You are already thin. Your best bet to reshape your body is through weight training. 30 day shred and Zumba are basically cardio with some body weight exercises thrown in. You won't reshape your body and get a lean bikini body this way. Take it from me, I kept losing and losing weight until I was around 100 pounds and I still looked just skinny, flabby and lumpy. Then I smartened up, started eating more and gained some weight back while lifting heavy 3-4 times a week and minimal cardio mostly in the forum of HIIT, and now I look a lot better at 112 and more muscle than I did at 100 pounds. I feel much more confident in a bikini now.

how to get a bikini body.

    buy a bikini.

    put it on a body.

    boom. done.

That being said- most people who still aren't happy with their bodies after loosing lots of weight-or as they lose weight- feel like they are missing something- 9/10 doing some quality lifting fixes it. And improves your confidence.

    Starting strength
    Strong lifts
    Strong Curves
    New Rules of Lifting

all really great places to start your journey.

I disagree with JM being cardio...it's not it is circut training with significant resistence training in there.

    I lost 9inches in 30 days doing 30DS...

OP it's a great workout..I started with 3lb weights quickly moved to 5lb weights and up to 8lb by the time I was done.

PS I lift heavy now...this was a gateway to build my strength.

Im starting to learn more about lifting heavy for similar reasons, though I am not as small as you.

I feel like I look good in clothes, but I wanna look good naked!!!

You can disagree all you want- but the reality it's a cardio based program.

20 million reps of something isn't weight training. I'ts muscle endurance. yes they are great workouts (yes I've done some) but no they aren't lifting programs.
