I drink a lot of water so I have to get up frequently to use the bathroom. When the weather is cooperative, there's an exterior door right near the bathroom, so I exit and walk around the building to come back into my office. When I sit too long my back aches!

Turkey Chili: Ingredients: • 2 TBSP olive oil • 1 + pound package of lean ground turkey meat • 1/2 cup each - chopped carrot, celery, red bell pepper, green bell pepper and finely diced onion plus 1 clove garlic chopped • 1 can black beans (low sodium just as good) • 1 can small red beans (low sodium just as good) • 1…

If you're only going to do one or the other, dieting would be more effective in my opinion. You should be doing both though! In my own personal experience, as someone who moves in some capacity every single day, I don't drop weight unless I clean up my diet. Which makes me sad. :-)

I never really put sugar in my coffee, but always used milk or half and half. It took me FOREVER to cut back until I was drinking black coffee, but now I love it. I agree with the poster above who says if you drink your coffee black you can really tell if it's a good cup or not.

Believe everyone who said to run slower. If you do that, your "easy" pace will become faster over time, not that your pace is important. Since you have a HRM, try running at 65-75% of your Maximum Heart Rate for most of your runs. My Max HR is much higher than the charts tell me for age, etc. The way I calculate my max…

I think it's a good investment in your health. Every time I'm scheduled to work with my trainer (2x week), I don't want to go. But every time I'm done, I feel like a million bucks. I'm seeing changes too. I say give it a shot. Make sure you and the trainer are a good "fit". Good luck!

I know that. Really, I do. But it's a mental battle as well.

No, it doesn't. If you set any alarms it really seems to drain the battery much quicker. I look at the Fitbit app on my phone throughout the day to see where I'm "at".

Congratulations! I remember hitting a healthy BMI and feeling the same exact way. Keep the good work up!!!

Superfeet insoles have really helped my plantar fasciitis. $40 vs. $250-$450 custom orthotics.

Running.

Ugh I despise running on the "dreadmill" but have been forced to log so many miles indoors this winter. Massachusetts has had one snow storm after the other and in my opinion it is not currently safe to run outdoors. I miss running outside so much! I completely agree with you about the miles going so much slower on the…

Congratulations - you should feel so proud of yourself. You did it "right"...you're focused on your health...keep it going - keep running! Running changed everything around for me too....well done...

Your hubby is fine. I'm almost 43, run 25 miles a week and my heart rate goes anywhere between 120 (easy effort) to 186 (full effort). 169 would put me in a tempo-run pace. My resting heart rate is in the 57-63 range. My heart rate (during exertion) runs higher than the MHR calculators. I figured out my Maximum Heart Rate…

I agree with this. I don't think you need a running app, I think you need to build your base up gently, avoiding injury along the way as best you can (says the girl with blisters, groin pulls, etc). First about 15m per week, then slowly graduate to about 20. In the meantime, run a 10K if you feel like it. Once you hit…

The best advice I got in the beginning is "If you think you can run slower, than you're going too fast"....honestly - endurance first, speed comes later. Good luck!

Sounds like you would like the Tracy Anderson videos.

Yes, sorry - not wanting to be rude here, but your food diary is open and the quality of your food choices is not going to do you any favors. No need to starve - I don't believe in deprivation. My own personal motto is to eat the maximum amount of calories possible yet still lose weight or maintain, depending on where I'm…

Keep them in a closet and maybe if you do some sort of race that involves mud, etc., you can use those then discard them after you ruin them! :-)

Quote From Ironplayground: "Losing weight while eating the maximum amount of calories you can while still being at a deficit is setting yourself up for long term success." That's my weight-loss philosophy in a nutshell - couldn't agree more!

People noticed it in my face as well. If you click on my profile I have one "fat face" pic of myself up - I didn't realize how chunk my cheeks had gotten until I saw the pics after the loss...

HaHa - THIS. I'm just under 5'4", started at 163.5 and am 136.5 now - I look ok but would like to jiggle less for sure. I think continuing my exercise routine and a few more pounds and lots more time will help...

I have one lululemon top - it's cute and still looks brand new a year later. I have some Athleta items that I am in LOVE with - so cute & comfortable. I have far more items bought from Kohl's & Target. Some of the stuff is ok, but most of it is "disposable". It doesn't stand the test of time, gets pilly, shows sweat at the…

LOVE - so true - great advice. My mother said "No one cares that much about you"....sound insulting, right? It's not though - for me it's very freeing advice that I still listen to at 42 years of age. It's a very direct way of saying how ridiculous it is to be self-consious, or to constantly be thinking about how others…

Just do it. Smoking is gross, smelly and will kill you. Pick up healthy habits instead. I smoked a pack a day for 18 years and I've been smoke free for 10 years. As you can probably tell, I'm the world's worst x-smoker. But really, just give it up. It's bad.

Make it a habit. I try to move every day because I sit on my rear end 8:30 - 4:30...if I miss one day every week or two that's fine, but I try to work it in EVERY day. Now if I miss a workout, it feels weird...

YES - you are a success story for sure. Congratulations and keep going, girl!!
