  • Now that the Apple Watch has been officially unveiled and orders will start next month, I would like to know whether MFP plans to integrate the Apple watch data with MFP. My Fitbit Charge HR currently syncs and integrates with MFP. I would like to be able to do the same with the Apple watch data such as the active calorie…
  • For me, weekends are the easiest. I have more time to work out and two of my favorite classes, Kickboxing and Total Body Conditioning are in the mornings. If I burn at least 500 calories each day, I have loads of calories to spare to eat. Even if we have plans, I can always sneak In a morning workout, a long walk or some…
  • To Lawra25, You can do it! Take one day at a time. I lost all that weight very slowly. Never more than a pound or two a week. But I lost weight every week and over time it adds up. You just have to set your mind to doing it for the long run and realize that weight lost slowly stays off longer. And. Your are building new…
  • Hi! I read Corporette every day and occasionally post as SoCal Gator. I am much older than most of those who post as I have even a lawyer for more than 35 years. I am a business litigator for a medium size firm in Southern California. I work in Irvine although the main office is in Century City. I have been using…
  • Marlene, Thanks for sharing your story. I think it's great that you found and started to use MFP after you lost the weight..Most folks don't realize that maintenance is even harder than weight loss. They lose the weight, go back to their old habits and regain what they have lost. I think having the discipline of MFP…
  • Let's get this to multiple pages. Bumpity bump.
  • Robin, Your blog post contains invaluable insights from someone who has successfully maintained her weight loss for two years. That's an amazing accomplishment. Not only have you maintained, you have improved your health and fitness by pursuing a very challenging workout program and reshaping your body. Kudos to you! You…
  • I had to post here again given my current picture -- it shows me fitting my whole body in one leg of the size 16's I used to wear a year ago. Now, 73 pounds lighter, I wear a size 0/2.
  • What size did you start with? 16 What size are you now? 0/2 Most Current Stats: Hips? 36 Waist? 27 Height? 5'6" Weight. 125 (starting weight was 198)
  • I use a lactose-free soy based protein powder. You can use all of the sugar free pudding mixes (1 tablespoon) as a flavoring for protein shakes. Another good one is chocolate protein powder, frozen unsweetened black cherries and 1 Tablespoon sugar free cheesecake pudding mix. Tastes like black forest. I also use sugar free…
  • Welcome to maintenance! It has it's own challenges but many rewards. Robin is our fearless leader in our Maintenance Group so check us out and join if you want. It's a really nice group of folks who are into the maintenance phase. And congratulations on your weight loss achievement! Here is a link to the MFP Maintenance…
  • Good morning Robin It is so inspiring to hear about your incredible progress on what seems to be a very challenging weight and strength training program. I am glad that you feel as if it has made a big difference for you since you certainly have dedicated many hours and long work to achieving that. Great job! What is even…
  • Spark people has it in their database. I used their calculator. It is a huge calorie burner. Next time I will wear an HRM to be more accurate.
  • Here I thought I was the only one. Now that I have lost almost 70 pounds my shoe size has dropped from either 7 to 7-1/2 to 6-1/2 to 7. Not sure why except there is less weight being carried by my feet!
  • Martha -- Thanks, that is a thought provoking article from Runner's World. I also thought the quiz was helpful to determine how healthy your attitude is towards food and eating. While I did not score in the low (nothing to worry about) category, I answered honestly and my score fell into the Pretty Good with Some Room for…
  • Lizi and PlumpyIrish, welcome. You are in the right place to get support in the maintenance phase. I am relatively new to maintenance -- about five months now, and I have found it is trickier than the weight loss phase. Getting the right balance of calories and exercise so that you do not regain what you worked so hard to…
  • 5'6" tall. Started weight loss program at 198. Am now 126, which is a bit lower than what I had originally targeted but that's where my body seems to want to be. My current target range is 125-130, but I would be comfortable going up to 135 if it's because I've built more muscle. I am doing a lot of strength training and…
  • 5'6" and 125 pounds. I usually wear size 4 pants but they are loose and have some size 2's that fit better.
  • Hi Pete! Nice job! Keep up the good work! Whatever it is that you are doing, it is working, which should be a comfort to you. We all fear regaining what we have lost so that is only natural. I also think that it takes along time to readjust our self perceptions so that when we look in the mirror, we see our bodies in an…
  • Maggie, you look fabulous! Your arm muscles and definition are impressive. You should be very proud of yourself as you have worked hard to achieve this! I think your new motto should be "Don't Mess with Maggie!" Who says Over Fifty is over the hill? Not this bunch!
  • I work with a trainer at my gym and he has emphasized how important it is to properly feed your body enough fuel if you expect it to work out and build muscle. Also it's essential to listen to your body. It sounds like your body is asking for the fuel necessary to do those hard workouts that you do. And yes, muscle weighs…
  • You are right not to give up! You can do it. I am 58 and I have lost over 65 pounds and now weigh what I did in my 20's. I also almost feel that young too! While the weight may come off slower over 50, it still comes off if you keep your calories down and exercise. Best of luck!
  • I also usually work out late as well. I used to be a morning workout person but now that our kids are all away at college, working out after work is better for my schedule. I joined the gym across from my office and go there straight after work. This lets me miss the evening commuter traffic so that when I am done, it's a…
  • Maggie -- you have been a very wonderful and supportive MFP friend! The gym accident was something of a wake up call to me -- a good reminder that I have to feed and hydrate my body properly if I am going to demand that it work out hard. I needed that reminder. I also maybe need to slow down a bit, so last week was a good…
  • Robin and Maggie, I agree with both of you that our body perceptions can be skewed by a variety of factors. As you both know, I had a scary mishap at the gym, which proved to be an unfortunate accident but nothing serious, but which has sidelined me last week from any vigorous exercise. I also am trying to stop losing more…
  • I am 58 but after losing 65 pounds I feel (and look) a lot younger!
  • Hi Lorna, First, congrats on your weight loss! Great job. I am sure you feel so much better. I know that I feel better not carrying around that extra 65 pounds! My experience with exercise and weight loss is that while they are strongly connected, you do not see the results immediately. I know that on the weeks that I had…
  • Cindy, It's a setting that you choose. Look under the Food tab to the subtab called Settings, click on Change Food Diary and there is a place to check where you can choose to share your food diary. You can share it with Friends only, which is what I do, or make it Public so anyone can see it. I hope that helps. JoM
  • Yes, that's the LA Fitness I go to. I can't make weekday classes or late mornings because I work in Irvine. I do like the Body Works Plus class Sunday mornings at 8:30 am. If you ever want a real change, try the Cardio Kickboxing on Saturday at 9:45 am Pierre is the best instructor and you will have tons of fun! I have now…
  • I take an omega-3, a multivitamin, a calcium chew, a probiotic and biotin for my hair, which has thinned due to my weight loss.
