Which is basically the same thing...

If you are not losing weight you are simply not in a deficit. Either you are eating more than you think or burning less or a combination of the two. Either way, if you are not losing, you are not in a deficit, you just have to figure out why. Unless there is a health reason for going gluten or dairy free, these things will…

Although 10 pounds in 7 weeks is a good loss, if you lost that in the first week and have maintained your weight since then it sounds like you created a large deficit the first week and have been eating at maintenance since then. The only thing absolutely required for weight loss to occur is a calorie deficit. If you are…

If you are gaining weight you are eating in a surplus. Period. Back when you were losing weight you were eating at a deficit. It's simple math. Either you are eating more than you think or burning less than you think or a combination of the two. Either way, the only thing absolutely required for fat loss to occur is a…

First, it is not impossible to put on 11 pounds of fat in a month. Of course you would have to be eating a pretty substantial surplus, but it would not be impossible. It's more likely half of that is fat and half is water, glycogen, etc.

5kgs is around 11 pounds if I'm correct which would be a little over 3.5 pounds a week. Unless you have a lot of weight to lose that's going to be almost impossible. Is there a reason you need to lose 5kgs in this short amount of time? Do you have to meet a weight limit for something? If not, your best bet is going to be…

No...

Why not...

This ^^^ I would also add ...years of "consistent" hard work...

Just curious how you came up with your visceral fat number and what does your visceral fat have to do with the subcutaneous fat on your stomach?

It doesn't look like "bloating" it just looks like a little extra fat to me. Just going by your stats at 15% BF I would say that's all it is. As a comparison, in my profile pic I am 5'9", 155lbs, and around 10 to 11% BF. It just looks like you lack very much muscle which would account for the 15% BF at 143lbs. Sounds like…

Like janejellyroll said, how do people starve to death if that is true. Think about it. People try to complicate things too much when it comes to fat loss. Having said that, eating too few calories is not good because you can't get the nutrients you need when eating too few calories. Also most people that think they are…

Like jemhh said you can't compare them to squats or leg presses. Actually you can't compare squats AND leg presses to each other. They are isolation exercises that isolate the quads or hamstrings, so as long as you are using progressive resistance they can be a good addition to squats and leg presses.

I have a Garmin Vivosmart with a chest strap. I love it. I have found that the wrist based HR monitors are okay for normal day to day activities but the accuracy really isn't there during strenuous exercise. Some of them won't pick up a heart rate at all if you get it above a certain limit. Doesn't make much sense to me to…

I guess I'm a little different in that, I don't care what anyone else thinks. The ONLY opinion I ever concern myself with is my wife's. Other than that what I do with my body, be it losing more fat or gaining more muscle, is none of any one elses business. Having said that if someone has an opinion such as "why are you…

That is a very individual thing and depends on your genetics. If you have never been lean enough to see abs you won't know until you get there how your body and face looks overall. Some people can see abs at 10% BF some have to get down even lower. Myself, I have to get down pretty lean, around 7 or 8% to really have a…

Lifting weights is not going to help you lose body fat. Especially not in a specific area from an isolation exercise. Fat loss comes from a calorie deficit. Having said that, you should still lift to maintain the lean body mass you have while losing body fat, but don't expect it to cause you to lose fat. For your other…

No... Your digestive system doesn't need to "rest", and your body will burn fat whether you are awake or asleep.

When you have more knowledge than your "trainer," it's time to find a new trainer...

Meal timing does not matter. Your body doesn't care if it is 1am or 1pm. If you are trying to lose fat eat at a deficit. There's nothing magic about eating at certain times of the day.

Muscle soreness does not equate to calorie burn. Your muscles are sore because you used them in a way that they are not accustomed to for an extended period of time. Having said that. You probably burned a few extra calories if this was something you don't normally do, but probably not enough to make any difference. If you…

The only way to "burn" fat is to eat at a calorie deficit. Fat burners aren't magic pills that cause you to burn fat. Don't waste your money on gimmick pills and powders. Eat real food. Having said all that, you need to make sure you are lifting while in a deficit to maintain any lean body mass you have. Then once you get…

Not really sure what you mean? You can't do both at the same time.

If you are gaining or maintaining then you are eating too much. Any calculator you use is only going to be an estimate, just a number to get you started. Eat that amount for a couple of weeks, being as accurate as possible, and see what happens.

A calorie deficit.

+1

I was wondering the same thing. Also I'm pretty sure nothing else we eat or drink, except your mothers breast milk, was "intended" solely for the purpose of human consumption.

So are you trying to tell the OP that even though she is in a deficit that she is still gaining muscle? You kind of lost me in your post. Edited to add... The "tone" you will see is not from gaining new muscle, it is from losing body fat in turn exposing the muscle that is already there.
-
Op, I think you have far greater issues than how many grams of fat are in a bag of chips...

Whey is a better protein so If it were me I wouldn't go with the soy...
