I had always lost very quickly through crazy diets. But as quickly as I would lose, I would also gain. I lost 30 through LA Weight Loss and then gained 45. I lost 8lbs through some crazy juice fast diet and then gained 15. Etc., my entire adult life. For the first time in my life I have actually kept my weight off. I…

My starting weight was 233lbs. My CW is 193.8. My goal at the moment is 150lbs. I'll revisit WHEN I get there.

Jan 2011 to April 2012 233lbs to I think 201 in this pic. I am 193.8 as of this morning. Oh boo it didn't work. I'll figure it out later ;)

Thanks for your input guys. I have an FT7 as well. I asked my trainer and she felt it was really high. I scheduled a session with my trainer for tomorrow and will ask her to test it out. In just worried that it's the high impact aerobics that's giving it a wrong reading. Maybe I should invest in the gel instead of wetting…

Good luck! I am not black but I am Dominican and have typical Dominican hair. I get it relaxed every 3 months but since deciding to work out, I have not relaxed it. I went to my hair stylist for some products that I can leave in with wet hair. My hair has been a pain in my rear for a long time but my weight was getting out…

Ditto that no one will be watching you. When I first started I had no idea what I was doing and I consider myself a pretty good dancer. But there's a big difference between Zumba and dancing in a night club lol  The key for me was to take it slow. As long as you are moving, you will burn. So I worked on my feet…

What the poster explained about max heart rate made a lot of sense to me. I did not at any point feel like I was going to pass out. After the songs I was breathing hard but was still able to talk and I never felt dizzy. This leads me to believe that either my max heart rate is above the predicted as explained above or…

Yes it does. It is a polar ft7

Ok I figured out how to change the max heart rate and changed it to 210 as suggested. Hopefully this will give me a more accurate reading.

It was a class, not a workout DVD Thanks for this. I most definitely cannot run 5.5mph though I was moving and jumpin the entire class and I am very out of shape. I bought the monitor specifically to not have to estimate the calories burned so I'm a little annoyed if it is in fact wrong (or grossly overestimated). I am…

Thanks for looking! I've been doing the class for 4 months now so I know all the routines and knew I have been working harder than usual. But I didn't expect this much. I was thinking maybe 500.

Thanks for the feedback. The average per zumbacalories.com is 600 if I remember correctly. It's an FT7. I don't know my resting average. I wore it for the first time today (well besides a 20 min test at home). When I put it on today I was at 96.

Oh and I'm 30.

I feel the same way though granted I still have a very long journey ahead of me. But my loss is so slow that I get used to my new size before moving in to another so it doesn't feel like I have lost much. Looking at before and after comparison pictures really helps!

I'm also losing very slowly. I realized this year that I can't continue to set unrealistic goals like lose 20lbs in one month when I could (at the time) barely lose 1lb a week. Now one of my goals is just to lose weight (the others are to get fit and get healthy). That way whether I lose .2lbs or 2lbs or 20lbs, I still met…

Are you taking your measurements?

Thanks everyone for your input!

Thanks!

I have been battling this for years. This year was a turning point for me though. I realized that every single time I had a bad moment (eating an extra slice of pizza, eating as an emotinal response, having a bad meal, etc) I would just give up and eat like crap for the next few weeks. When in reality, one bad moment…

You're starting is about where I am now! This is very inspirational for me. I haven't worn a size 12 in such a long time, it almost feels impossible to get there. Thank you for sharing!! You look amazing :)

It is also a quote from someone who was accused of promotinig anorexia amongst teenage girls. Despite that, I agree that there are a lot of people who want to lose without putting the effort. I have learned though that you can have all the encouragement in the world but nothing will work until you are ready to make a…
