When I was diagnosed with diabetes last March, I was referred to a dietitian. I brought my iPad with and she showed me how to adjust the food macros to percents she recommended for me of carbs, protein, fat, etc. I have followed her recommendation and have lost 21 pounds. It was gradual, but then I’m 71. I suggest you ask…

Congrats! Have you decided on your (non-food) reward?

Google low calorie breakfast recipes and stand back, there are tons!

Most gym equipment is suspect as far a calorie accuracy. I wear a heart rate monitor. Pick one you like and use it.

My resolution last year was to scale back to being a b!tch only one day a week. Not a specific day, just a random day. This has worked out so well that I'm repeating it again for 2017! I'm thinking of adding a resolution to make a phone call to at least one family member a week.

It depends on what you expect out of walking; what your goals are. It's a good place to begin and no equipment or membership needed. It's also a good cool down. I use walking as my "think time". The terms excellent and great may be over used, but I agree walking can have a place in an exercise plan.

I don't have a weight goal. I'm 65 and I decided to eat as if I'm on maintenance; the amount of calories I am willing and comfortable to eat on a regular basis for the foreseeable future. I set my exercise goal at minimum an hour a day, most often two hours or more. Wherever this combination of "goals I'm willing to live…

If you google quick healthy dinners you can find lots of examples on sites such as recipe.com and allrecipes.com, and others. Some of the recipes will offer a little video of how to make the dish. You can branch out and try new things and still eat healthy food that kids will eat too, if you don't tell them that it is…

Help!!! How can I get "thigh gap"? What the Hell? I've never seen a man post questions about achieving thigh gap....

The compulsion to correct a stranger's spelling or grammar is just sad. Move on....

I do Jazzercise daily. Plus a daily walk, tai chi and one yoga class a week. This gives me cardio, a long fat burning walk, meditation/balance and flexibility. Oh, and I'm 65.

We also use Withings.

I ignore the prediction.

Google bread recipes, you will have plenty to choose from. I just use a bread machine. You load it up in under ten minutes and come back in a couple hours and it's all done.

After dinner and clean up, I get a bottle for water and leave the kitchen. THEN, I announce, out loud, even though I may be home alone: " The kitchen is now Closed!" Sappy, I know, but it works for me. The kitchen is closed for the night, can't go in there, for any excuse....
-
This is true! I was very surprised when a woman at Jazzercise asked if I'd be back tomorrow and added, because you are my inspiration! I was stunned! This woman is much younger than me. I'm 65. You never know if someone is watching.

It's not just single people who get this spam. I'm 65, been married for 21 years and still get this kind of spam all the time. No, I don't want to meet cute girls from Russia! Ha

Have you told him clearly that calling you fat is hurting you and you want it stopped for good? If he can't quit this behavior, there will probably be other problems in the future. Bad habits have to be addressed or they just keep growing.

I live in a "haunted" house, no physical presence, words and sounds. For example, I woke up one night and a voice asked me, "are you awake?". I was home alone.

The zoo, aquarium or winery. Tours are also good or a play or botanical gardens. Sports event?

Hang in there! Sometimes skin may sag a bit when you lose weight, but things usually stabilize if you keep going. I've seen this happen and it will pass! Really..

Google vegetarian recipes, you'll find plenty.

Have not seen ghost or any physical contact. Hear them though. Now, I play a white noise ap when I sleep, so it mostly covers up any voices.

Yes, first week loss is often mostly water. You can lose weight by eating poorly, but keeping at your calorie goal. Over time, it's best to switch to better nutrition choices. Forming a long term habit of eating well is usually the goal.

I like the OXO brand digital scale.

MFP is most helpful when you weigh your food and enter your exercise every day. It's helpful to have an HRM, to have as accurate as possible calories burned data. It's mostly calories in and calories out after that.
-
A pound a week is pretty common. I've been on MFP since Memorial Day and lost 26 pounds, averaging to about .8 pounds a week. I am in this for the long haul, not just to reach a number goal and go back to my old ways (and gain back what I worked so hard to lose). Keep logging and moving. If you are not weighing your food,…

No, frankly I never even looked at them.

Never.

I use a digital kitchen scale by OXO.
