Feeling discouraged

I've been at this for two week. Worked out everyday excerpt two rest days. I've watched what I've eaten and recorded everything staying within the parameters in myfitnesspal. But, when I get on the scale I've only lost 2 lbs in 14 days. Help!

That's still great progress!! True weight loss takes time, especially if you don't have too much to lose. And if you have a lot to lose...hey, the scale is moving in the right direction and that's awesome!

That happened to me this week though and I know how disheartening it is. But I kept with it and yesterday woke up to a 2.5 pound weight loss! So I would say try to push through. If you give in now without waiting it out, all that hard work will be for nothing.

hey ! The one question I have is did you just start or start back working out? If so, in the short term you might be seeing some extra muscle gain? Also, when I lost 40 plus pounds (put it back on unfortunately...my fault), I would see very little loss, then "boom", I see 5-10 over shorter period of time, then plateau again, then again so on weight loss run. I think the key is to make whatever it is you plan to do a routine for the long hall, as much as possible. Stay with it...working out and watching what you eat is better than the opposite. Recording can be a task, but it keep you hones :-) . Good luck.

A pound a week is pretty common. I've been on MFP since Memorial Day and lost 26 pounds, averaging to about .8 pounds a week. I am in this for the long haul, not just to reach a number goal and go back to my old ways (and gain back what I worked so hard to lose).
Keep logging and moving. If you are not weighing your food, start ASAP. If you don't use a HRM, get one, if you can. It makes a difference to know as accurately as possible, calories in and calories burned. Most people who don't lose are getting bad data on one or both sides of this equation.

One pound every week for 6 months will produce a 26 lb loss! Just keep at it. You are doing great!!! When I feel discouraged I read success stories. It helps to see the big picture.

It's also key to remember to keep track of some non-scale values (NSV) like pant size or waist circumference or even not getting winded when you normally would. It helps on weeks that you don't see a loss on the scale.

A second thing is if you are super serious about weight loss you could work with a dietician or nutritionist on a plan that works for you. It costs money (mine was co-funded through my work's wellness program) but my results improved dramatically once we adjusted my settings in mfp to meet my specific needs.

    Hope this helps!

2 lbs in first 2 weeks is great progress! It means you're doing it right. You just can't give up.
Sometimes weightloss is faster, sometimes it slows down, it's all normal.
Just continue with your plan and you will see results.

I echo the above - a pound a week is very good progress. Slow and steady wins the race. The only thing is you will not be gaining muscle in a deficit- but you may, however, be retaining water in your muscles at first if you just started an exercise routine. I once was losing consistently- like 1 - 1.5 pounds per week and I started the 30 day shred and lost NOTHING that week and I got so discouraged that I quit and didn't come back for two years. I have since found out that a vigorous exercise routine may make you retain water at first. Keep going!

I killed it this week - meal planned, weighed my food, stuck well within my calorie goals and worked out 2 days a week. I got on the scale this morning and it was +.5lb! Gahhhh! BUT I took measurements and lost about 6 inches in different areas. Plus I feel better. I'm frustrated but trying to focus on the mirror and not the scale! If you haven't, take measurements and/or photos so you can compare! 2lbs in 2 weeks is pretty good, better that it comes off slowly and stays off than loosing it all quickly and gaining it back! :) if you need motivation feel free to add me!
