I don't love you any more...
Today I decided to have one last fling with an old love. I missed the thrill and thought I could go back once more. No one would know. But my mouth felt greasy and my stomach felt queasy, it wasn't like what I remembered! Even the smell wasn't as appealing.. I don't love you any more...its over... no more chicken…

Meatless Mondays until Memorial Day
Long ago My husband and I accepted an MFP challenge to go meatless on Mondays for 8 weeks. We liked that it made us try new things and exercise a different kind of control over our eating, one day a week for a limited time. We liked the idea so much we continue our "meatless Mondays" still. We challenge others to go…

Memorial Day IF Challenge
Memorial Day is 9 weeks away and I need a challenge that is not tied to weight. You are welcome to join me in 9 weeks of one IF, (intermittent fast) a week. Now, if you do a search on fasts or intermittent fasts you will find Many kinds. I will be doing the type I prefer which is: One day a week, for me usually Tuesday, I…

Build in "Wiggle Room" anyone?
Most days I build in a bit of calorie wiggle room. Today it was a long walk at lunch, but sometimes its weight training or swimming. The wiggle room is exercise that is not really counted for the purpose of eating back my calories, which I do when I do a cardio workout and wear a HRM. I figure this occasional activity…

Affect of medication on accuracy of HRM
I haven't seen a thread on how medication affects the accuracy of the HRM. I'm on beta blockers, which suppress/slow my heart rate. When I finish an hour of cardio my HRM says I burned, for example, 150 calories, or about a quarter of what MFP lists for an hour of that particular exercise. I'm not sure either number is…

Anyone practice Tai Chi?
I have done Tai Chi for many years and I'm certified to teach. Any other Tai Chi practitioners out there?

Walking in the woods
I've done my cardio mostly in the gym using treadmill, elliptical or stationary bike, (its been a killer hot summer). The past couple weekends have been really nice though and we, hubby and me, went for an hour walk around a local pond. I had on my HRM and the calorie count was right up there with the gym equipment, but we…

A small change in plan
First let me say I eat back my exercise calories and have lost 32 pounds. Up until now, I have used the calories burned on the treadmill or elliptical display in my exercise log. Starting today, I will only count the calories my HRM shows for any exercise. I have seen that the machines at the gym give a higher number of…

Another MFP enters "Onederland"!
I am 61 and I started with MFP at 230 pounds on Memorial Day. This morning I am so very happy to cross over into "Onederland"! This morning I weigh 199.2. I feel so energized and ready to tackle my next mini-goal to get below 180. I don't have a final goal yet. How did I do it? My base calories are 1200, I eat back my…

Tatoo to celebrate weight goal
I'm thinking of getting a tat to celebrate when I reach my goal weight. I have a small sleeping cat on my ankle. I'm not a very girlie girl, so fairies and unicorns and butterflies are out. Something to go on the opposite ankle. I am a Tai Chi instructor. Any suggestions?

Any Jazzercise buddies on MFP?
Any Jazzercise fans out there? I was in Jazzercise for 51/2 years and loved it. I hope to join again when I retire and can attend during the day. It was the friendliest place I ever exercised.

What do you get for the guy who's lost 80 pounds?
My anniversary is the 28th and I can't think what to get my husband. I'd like to recognize his 80 pound weight loss. He also went from a 44 inch waist to a 30! I have told him how proud I am of him and all the hard work that got him there. Any ideas for gift, lets say $100 or less.

Those Special Occasions!
I'm going on vacation. I'm going to a party. I'm having company this weekend. Whatever. We can handle these special occasions and more. We have the tools and support. We can choose what we put in our mouths and we can log the food. We can burn those calories in exercise and we can realize that life is more that just that…

My jealosy was holding me back
When I started MFP on Memorial Day my husband had lost 80 pounds over the previous year, and I hadn't even tried. I was jealous and bitter. I wanted what he had, but not to do the work! My daughter had the answer. She told me to try being happy for him. To compliment his success and to enjoy helping him pick out a new…

July NSV goal
With July come up fast, I want to set a non scale goal for the month. I have decided to do one IF a week until Aug. 8th. For me an IF (Intermittent Fast) is to fast between 1pm until 7am the following day. Its an 18 hour fast. Many members have different fasting preferences, but this is a new tool for me and I'm trying it…

Unusual Motivation that worked
Here's how I get motivated to go to the gym after work. I get off work at 4pm, but the air conditioning is programed to come on at 6pm. The gym is air conditioned! After weight training and cardio., when I get home the air conditioning is just coming on and feels so good.

Birthday Dining out
My birthday is Friday. My daughter and her husband are taking me out. We aren't going to a chain restaurant, so I can't look up calories in advance. I'm thinking of just having what I want for one meal, (within reason). It's a sushi place, so I think I'll have some healthy choices. The question is: restraint or "live a…
