First let me say I eat back my exercise calories and have lost 32 pounds.
Up until now, I have used the calories burned on the treadmill or elliptical display in my exercise log. Starting today, I will only count the calories my HRM shows for any exercise. I have seen that the machines at the gym give a higher number of calories burned than my HRM shows. I only want to eat back calories I have actually burned.

  • I wore my HRM at the gym on the stair machine yesterday. My HRM had my HR at 143, and the machine said it was 171. The machine was way off. So yeah, go with the HRM!

I just purchased an HRM yesterday because I got tired of guessing how many calories I burned while exercising and my correct HR. What I was doing was dividing my calories burned in half just to be sure I wasn't claiming more calories than I had actually burned. Turns out that the my elliptical's calculations were pretty close to the calculations on my HRM. The HR on the elliptical, however, was way off. I underestimated my calculations but I would rather guess under than over. I haven't been eating any of my burned exercise calories anyway so I guess it doesn't matter, but at least now I know. I'm glad to hear that you still managed to lose that much weight even while eating your calories burned. I will probably do it when I go on vacation or something, but it's good to know that it probably won't effect my weight loss. Thanks for sharing and good luck in the future!:-)
