I totally agree with Sara! Investing the money to get a trainer for a few sessions to cover the basics is well worth it and will pay off in the long run! If you cannot afford it, make sure you have a plan and don't wander around clueless doing a bit of this and that, as its getting you nowhere in the first place. There are…

I find it helps to limit Carb intake on rest days and focus on protein and healthy fats! Keeps me fuller for longer and when not lifting your body does not need the extra fuel from carbs, but the fat and protein for recovery!

Hi, I would not really trust your HRM in this case! A HRM is designed to measure constant cardio excercise and those kind of activities usually have your heart rate raising followed by periods with low intensity. Therefore the accuracy goes completely out of the window (see similiar discussions on wearing an HRM while…

Hi, I found http://www.bodybuilding.com/ generally very helpfull. They have good sample rountines and informative articles. Read part 1 and 2 of this: http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/berardi13.htm And I have invested into a couple of sessions with a personal trainer to get the basics and form right, as it is crucial to…

Hi, I do not have the answer to this, but would be interested to hear opinions as well. I do my strength training as circuits, so with little resting, but believe the HRM still shows elevated numbers. As a rule of thumb I try to eat back only 50% of those cals (obviously no science behind this approach). If there is a…

Wow, that is quite an impressive speed for a starter! In no time you will be running 10k! Well done!

I am getting a little scared reading all this... I have been diagnosed early this week and was told that probably two weeks of rest and light stretches would take care of it. But hearing that lots of people are dealing with it over months and years makes me worried. I really do not want to quit my running routine and was…

Great way to end it! I finished week 8 today and hope I will be as motivated as you towards the ends! Thanks for sharing!

I also wear shoes, as I need as much support for my joints as I can get!

Pasta, pasta, pasta... Could have it 5 tines a week, and of course preferably a double portion! Roughly 900cal

I do have that quite often in the canteen... When everyone is going for fish and chips and I am happily sticking to the salad buffet! I like to believe they are just jealous they can't stick to the good things!

This is great! Congratulations!

I guess its individual preference... I eat lunch in the canteen and will choose every day between their lean option or the salad buffet. And in the evenings I like to browse through my fridge and look what appeals to me. But I will log it before I eat to not go over on calories. If what you are doing works for you, keep it…

Hi all, thanks for the good ideas! Tried the 30ds today without leg movement - so only punshes for cardio. Worked alright and gave my upper body a good workout. Think I will stay with it for the next few days and than hopefully get back to running!
-
Just did my first session... OMG am I out of shape! Managed the cardio bits ok, as I have done a couple of days running now, but my muscles are useless!! Lets do this together! Will need some motivation!
