  • I turned 60 this year. I had gained weight through my 50's and this site has given me back the control. Stick with it and you will feel much better. Love this site!
  • :flowerforyou: DO eat something before you go. an oatmeal square or something so your body will know it's OK to burn calories. That's how you get your day started in the right burning direction.:flowerforyou:
  • stunning! You should be SO proud of yourself! What an accomplishment. weight loss hall of fame! :flowerforyou:
  • I just discovered this 50+ blog - (or thread? - I'm not sure what this is called). Read a little. I have so many things in common with lots of these folks! I've been coming to MFP for about 2 years. This is a wonderful thread and I didn't even know it was here. I will read a bunch of this and keep coming back. I love MFP!!
  • 5'3" and reached my goal of 118-120. This app/web site is how!
  • light yogurt or mixed nuts Created by MyFitnessPal.com - Free Calorie Counter
  • I eat a peanut butter sandwich (on Sara Lee 45 calories and delicious bread) and an apple for lunch every day. It tides me over very well, and doesn't need refridgeration. I'm not a very adventurous food person.
  • I've known people that joined Weight Watchers and lost a lot of weight. Some of the attraction for them was the weigh-in and meeting with their group regularly. I like MFP because it "allows" you to eat whatever you like - in moderation - and it's so portable! I can log my day's stuff, get instant feedback, adjust the next…
  • Iowa here too!...not looking forward to winter...been on MFP for about a year and a half. Works GREAT! Motivation? Be your own best friend and do for yourself what a best friend would do. Care for yourself! ;-)
  • I'm 5'3", so a little bit taller. I looked up my BMI and went for the middle of "normal". I'm at 116 now. It looks and feels great!
  • You'll like this site! It's easy and it WORKS! Welcome!!
  • consecutivedays? not nearly as many as some! But, I skipped a week or so here and there after I reached my goal. I've been on here for about 18 months. It's a great tool.
  • BMI is my yardstick. It's a pretty broad range. Once you get within "Normal" you can decide from there how low you feel comfortable going. I'm in the middle of my "normal" BMI range and can now move a couple of pounds up or down and not feel like I'm in trouble either way. I LOVE this app/website.
  • I'm 59. I lost 25 lbs from March 2010 to about January 2011 using this website (and the iTouch app as well) Stay the course! You'll get there by using this site and tracking everything as accurately as is practical. I stopped logging on for a couple of months and put 4 lbs back on. I'm just working on the last lb of that…
  • I will be 60 next year. I've been on MFP for about a year and a half and lost about 25 lbs. The biggest thing for me was being honest with tracking exercise and adjusting my food intake to the numbers when I haven't done anything to burn extra calories. The exercise database helped me figure out what I was doing to burn…
  • You may not realize how many calories you burn just being a busy mom! You should look at the exercise data base and see what hours of housework, climbing stairs, etc. will burn. I was surprised! When I spend half of a day outside working in the yard - I get to splurge on something BIG. And I can continue to maintain. It…

  • You DO look completely different! You look marvelous!
  • RIGHT ON!! The people with the most courage, and who deserve the most respect, are those that take the first most uncomfortable step in their journey. Then, the wonderful folks that step up along side them and create the team. We all do better with support. This site is wonderful.
  • This is a link to an article on this site that explains why you need to eat your exercise calories. I hope you can get to this article. It explains it very well. http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/10589-for-those-confused-or-questioning-eating-your-exercise-calo You will lose weight in a healthy way, and you can't do…

  • I think the "if every day" thing is just a general trend thing. I take it as I need to tweak something one way or the other. I've noticed lately I've been "yelled at" for not eating enough when I got below 1200. Other days, I may end up 100-150 below my goal, but I didn't get chastized...there may be a threshold there that…
  • This site will help you a lot. For years I've heard - eat fewer calories than you burn - or eat this many calories a day to stay healthy. I don't have the time or motivation to go search for the caloric content of everything I eat. This place makes it easy. I didn't need to lose too much weight, and I'm maintaining now.…
  • You'll see a bunch of people on here that are doing VERY well. I've been here since March and made it to my goal weight this week. There are lots of supportive people here. You'll love it.
  • I keep repeating the same thing...this web site is awesome. It's easy and it WORKS!! :flowerforyou:
  • If you look at the exercise database in here, you'll find all kinds of things that you may already be doing. ie: weeding the flower beds/gardening, house work, etc. You're probably doing some things and don't realize the impact it has on your calorie burn. Plus, this site makes it easy to "write down" everything you put in…
  • Mine has been accurate. I have it sitting on a hard wood floor. I usually weigh at the circuit training place I go to, and the weights are the same.
  • I would take care of myself first and do what's necessary to get well. You would be ill for a week or so if it's a common cold or the flu. When you start feeling better you can go back to working out, etc. You're not going to trash all your potential and lose all your past progress in a week. (If you're ill longer than a…
  • This site is an awesome tool. It's helped me a bunch. It looks like it's working for you!!
  • This site will give you the tools to lose, gain or maintain. Whatever you decide. It is GREAT! Welcome!
  • Do eat as many of your exercise calories as you can. There's a helpful post on here, since you're new you may not have found it yet. Here's the link. http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/10589-for-those-confused-or-questioning-eating-your-exercise-calo I've been losing about 3/4 lb a week for a little over 5 months,…
  • That's great that you're tracking inches. I've heard that's a better way to tell you're heading in the right direction than the scales. That's what they tell me anyway. Congratulations! Isn't this the best website?!
