I think you are overthinking some things.

People still listen to James Blunt? James Blunt still records music? Hm. I'm dumbfounded.

OOoooohhh, yes, if you can find this, try it. It's delicious. A good friend of mine is Senegalese and they served it at their wedding. YUM.

No, it's definitely giving off more of a concentration camp vibe.

Oh, cheese is definitely not evil. Cheese is heavenly. I'm not saying everyone has to feel the way I feel. I know that the more control I have over my salt and sugar content, the better for me in the end. I have a major sugar problem I'm coming to terms with. And probably a pizza problem, too. Trust me, I'm not a…

Thanks for this thread, and just for being open and honest and willing to discuss it here. I sometimes wonder if I have a sugar/carb addiction, and I've always wondered where to go if I think this is what is keeping me from being successful. Godd luck on your journey!

I get what you're saying. However, the only pizza I deem as "healthy" is the one I make at home, from scratch, with fresh ingredients. I know I use less cheese and sugar in my pizza and dough, respectively, than even a great pizza joint like Mellow Mushroom. Also, Mellow Mushroom has a terrific beer selection, so if I'm…

Red Tea...African Roobois or something like that. It has a hint of sweetness, so I can actually drink it plain or with a touch of almond milk, and it's sweet enough to satisfy a 3PM sweet craving. And I'm a Southerner, so you know we like our tea sweet.

I've got beautiful eyes, very thick and healthy hair, and a lovely voluptuous rack.

You just dropped to 25% on my scale. Ketchup is disgusting. Also, mayo. I'm a mustard person.

I would have done the same thing. For perspective, one of my "wake up calls" that I needed to lose weight was when my wedding set was stolen from our home. It was in my jewelry box because I couldn't squeeze it on my fat, bloated fingers any more. Be sure those suckers are insured!!!

You are cracking me up...

I have eaten an entire box of velveeta shells&cheese with 4 hot dogs cut up. Mac&cheese and hot dogs is my favorite comfort food to be sick. FTR, I only ate the whole box once. Most of the time that would have been 2 servings. Blech.

Dude...no way...I could never stop at 7 beans. Hummus and raw bell pepper is a fave of mine. And it's filling.
-
Not to mention the fact that women who lift see their body change even quicker than we see results on the scales. I love that my arms feel firmer before I even drop 5 lbs. It's awesome.

Rutabega. Everything else, game on.

Actually, lots of veggies and lean protein is a great thing to shoot for. So it sounds like you've got a good start...maybe just make sure to add in exercise, plenty of fluids, and make sure you aren't eating a lot of processed foods. If you are trying to make a change in diet, google "clean eating" and check out some of…

I stick to trying for a good 8, 8oz servings a day. That is the average of what most "experts" reccomend, and I try to get 2-4 more servings when I workout. But, listen to your body. I NEVER drank enough fluids until the last few years, I mean ZERO water servings. Now, working out I can tell if I haven't had enough water…

Variety...sometimes I like a nice iceberg wedge with blue cheese dressing, bacon, and cherry tomatoes. That's a meal, not a side. I also like to buy the clamshells of spinach and arugula together, b/c they stay fresh for a full 2 weeks that way. Then I add crumbled cheese (feta or gorgonzola), sliced cucumber, cherry…

Wine and/or a home "spa" night: a long hot bath with a girlie mag, a clay face mask, and using my fancy serum and cream afterwards. Then giving myself a mani/pedi while watching trash reality TV.

Thank you. I don't know what the other bashing thread is about (haven't read it) but the best benefits to me taking charge of my own health are being proud of my little 3 year old foodie, who chooses any kind of fish/shrimp over toddler food, tries everything I put in front of him even if he says he doesn't like it, and…

I'm a novice lifter, too, but I just wanted to say good luck and I'm glad to have this supportive group of lifters to ask these questions!

This. But thanks for making those of us that just started lifting heavy this spring/summer even more self-concious about it.
-
wowza...where'd you come from? I wish I could remember names, but you know I'm old and married and we tend to be forgetful. There are some...most of them are bald, I think.

1. Shemar Moore 2. Mike Rowe 3. Dave Matthews As an alternate, I add Joel McHale. And I must be old b/c WTF is Tom Hardy?

My face is always first, then my neck, shoulders, back, arms, calves and way down the list is tummy, thighs, and hips. Basicaly, I lose from head to toe in that order with the exception of calves and cankles. Which is mostly water retention.

Only if I'm coming straight from work or somewhere I was wearing makeup, and even then half the time I don't wear makeup at work anyway. If last night is any indication, it's a damn good thing. My face, neck, chest, head was dripping sweat so hard I would have looked a fool with makeup running down my face.

I love your avatar.

I often say I have the opposite of "Body Dysmorphia" where I think I look smokin' and then I look in the mirror like 3 hours later and I'm like, "WHOA"!

Aww...congrats! That's amazing news. You should honeymoon there when you get married...take a little side trip up to Maine, too!
