  • I eat lots of carbs/protein/fat... it is not cutting carbs or fat etc.. it is CICO. The reason these diets work for people is CICO but the reason they can stick with them is because they feel satisfied and not deprived. I eat lots of lean chicken, cabbage, lettuce... anything to make me feel full. I just don't want to feel…
  • If you just started lifting weights again after a break then your muscles will retain water while they heal. I have been down this road before and I've had many, many male friends go "WTF, I started l lifting weights hard core and I GAINED 4-6 lbs while eating on a deficit?!?" And then 2-3 weeks later their weight plummets…
  • I leave for work at 0430 so I can use the gym next door at 0520 so I feel your pain. I do feel like it is a bad idea to weight train on an empty stomach but I am only speaking from personal experience. I like eating some greek yogurt when I first wake up. It is light, kills the morning hunger and I don't feel lethargic as…
  • I am starting week 2 of the men's version: Bigger, Leaner, Stronger and I am liking it so far.
  • I am looking for more friends as well
  • Anyone can add me, I log everyday (except for last week) =p. 84 day streak.
  • I am also looking for active friends, anyone feel free to add me.
  • I am friend requesting everyone who posted ahead of me; anyone behind me, please feel free to add me.
  • Stop weighing yourself so much. Try a medical scale at your local gym if you are concerned. Or, just put a known weight on your scale and see if it is calibrated.
  • That is incredibly ridiculous. I'd ask them where they think the nutrients go? Do the atoms fly away on a mystical journey? There is a little something called the 'Laws of Physics' and I'd encourage them to read it over, lol. Seriously though. I usually cook an entire week of meals on Thursday, bring them in on Friday and…
  • I wake up at 5am to exercise and I usually have a banana or Greek yogurt at least thirty minutes before and the rest of my breakfast after I finish the workout. The pre-workout snack is because I've noticed I will have more energy/can push myself farther that way. It has to be something small because I don't like to…
  • You are not sabotaged. Just log the calories and keep going. It helps to plan what you are going to order before you go to the restaurant and logging the calories in advance.
  • It looks like everything on your profile is already set to private.

  • I have noticed that ever since I started using MFP I get physically *hungry* right before mealtime, and grouchy if I delay eating. Afterwards I am sated but not stuffed. When I put on weight I would just eat whenever I felt like eating, a very different thing. I am going to take your post and keep it in mind!
  • I don't eat any processed food unless, unless instant oatmeal for breakfast counts? I prepare my dinners from scratch (using a healthy cook book that came with 20 weeks of grocery shopping lists) and eat the leftovers for lunch. I also log everything unless I am at someone else's house for dinner, then I just log calories.…
  • I'm A positive... Ok, corny joke, adding you!

  • I am turning 31 this December so I really feel you.. I used MFP to get into great shape four years ago but then I got into a bad car accident, I couldn't walk for months and it took a year before I could even walk without pain. I ate a lot out of depression and gained it all back so I am here starting over again. Happy to…
  • Be aware of the increase in sodium though which will lead to water retention. I fully expect to have the scale not show much of any progress if I consume a lot of sodium that week. The weight is lost though, you just have to weight for the water to pass through your system.
  • Whenever I get a late night craving I eat pickles since they have zero calories and then drink some water to rinse the acid out because it is bad for your teeth. If I'm not hungry enough to eat pickles then I am not hungry enough to eat anything else. I hope that helps :-)
  • Fruits are the only thing I don't weigh or measure (I even log the calories from breath mints and multivitamins). I just judge it as small, medium or large and put it into MFP.
  • Feel free to add me as well, you'll hear from me regularly.
  • Like previous posters have said counting calories works. Before I got into a car accident and gained weight back I used MFP and ate healthy for the most part but I would usually eat a chocolate bar (normal sized hersey, ~200 calories I think) twice a week when I'd go to the store and occasionally go out to dinner but I'd…
  • Welcome back, I just came back myself =) Added.
  • You could also average the week. 9450 calories for the week. Just "carry over" any extra calories you had/burned through exercise to the days you don't exercise. You'll still lose weight.
  • Also, if your choices are to lose the weight slowly or stay the same, which would you choose? Feel free to add me if you want =)
  • You need to approach this differently. You are making a positive lifestyle change - not dieting because you feel like you have to lose X pounds. A healthy diet and exercise are going to be a part of your life from now on and the weight loss will just be a side effect. Don't starve yourself and try to lose 50lbs…
  • I usually have some tuna fish prepared. Two cans of albacore with some diced onion, celery and just barely any mayo (2 Tbsp or so). Just enough to make it moist. Then I pack it down in a tupperware until it is solid and it becomes more moist after storing it in the fridge. In the morning toast a piece of whole wheat bread…
  • I buy bags of Dunkin' Donuts coffee and I always drink that, I enjoy the taste. Sometimes black, sometimes half & half, sometimes with creamer. I just measure it and account for the calories.
  • Honestly, if you rely on the diet pills as a crutch you will more then likely just gain all the weight back when you stop taking them. I speak from experience. All you need to do is just keep half of what you're doing - the gym and lower cals - and you will have continued, permanent, weight loss.
  • We used to do this in the Army if you knew you were going to bust the weight limit and they were going to measure your waist to calculate your body fat percentage :-) What it does is dehydrate your skin. Preparation H will pull the water right out, but it will start to return once you hydrate adequately.
