In previous posts I had ranted about being stuck in plateau so some members told me I am eating In maintenance. So I reduced my portions at dinner and I have stopped eating rice since almost 10 days. One of my scales showed me anywhere between 80 to 90 kgs now suddenly that scale has tipped to 78 kgs! Is that for real?? Help I am going mental weighing myself 15 times a day! This thing is driving me nuts!!

Stop weighing yourself so much. Try a medical scale at your local gym if you are concerned. Or, just put a known weight on your scale and see if it is calibrated.

Use one scale, and weigh yourself no more than once a day, at the same time of day.

Your weight fluctuates all day due to normal bodily functions, and different scales are calibrated differently.

Weighing yourself on different scales and at different times is a recipe for going crazy.

Pick one scale, pick one time of day, don't obsess on the number from one day to the next - watch the trend over time.

    All of this.

Plus, being female, your weight will fluctuate due to the time of month (ovulation, shark week, etc).

You can try an app that averages your daily weight (I use Happy Scale for iOS):

Or just only be curious if your weight hasn't gone down in a few weeks. If it hasn't, the usual reason is you need to tighten your logging accuracy.

Good luck, and keep reading the forums.

weigh yourself once a week. or less. on the same scale, at the same time of day, in the same clothes.

i gain up to five pounds from when i get up to when i go to bed. more if its TOM or I had a lot of sodium or any other number of factors.

    weight loss is not linear.

Nothing to add, but I love that you call it shark week.

You could also need a new scale! They don't last forever. But others are correct about how often you weigh, and under what conditions.

    Hi
FWIW if You have a Electronic scale try changing the battery, a weak battery has been know to cause inconsistent results in some scales.

    Much more importantly
Only weigh Yourself once a day
Always weigh Yourself in the same condition, What that means is that the most accurate reading is after You get up an before You eat and always wearing the same thing. That eliminates many variables. My weight can vary over two pounds during the course of one day, I get the most accurate reading weighing myself after I get out of bed. Then I have a banana and go for my walk drinking my daily coffee on the walk.

    Good Luck
    Roger

P.S. IMO I get the most accurate readings by using only one scale, checking it for a zero indication and it is completely non electronic. I use a Balance beam scale like this one which is the one I own, The one with no wheels
    http://www.amazon.com/HealthOMeter-Health-Meter-Physician-Balance/dp/B00Q7FJJRW

Also it gives a consistent weight, I can get on and off and have the same weight, I dumped a electronic scale that gave inconsistent results.
