  • Minimize refined sugar. Eat fruits, vegetables, etc. with naturally occurring sugar. If you use additives, honey, maple syrup, in moderation. Hell no to artificial sweeteners. Just my opinion though. Re: Alcohol I love to drink. I generally would drink too much....if I drank, like I used to, and didn't see the results of…
  • Give up the artificial stuff. Your body will thank you. I don't really have a caffeine alternative suggestion without coffee or tea though... I drink coffee like mad, appetite suppressant, stimulant, doesn't have to be insanely caloric. I'm not sure how much you've experimented with teas but you may be able to find…
  • I lost a lot of weight initially on my journey by eating "diet" foods - Lean Cuisine, Diet Coke, splenda in my coffee instead of sugar, non-fat milk, sugar free this, sugar free that. So yes part of the "calories in vs calories out" statement holds true, to lose weight, For health, the quality of the calories count. 100…
  • I have a difficult time getting back into logging once I have a cheat day as well, and I've been logging for well over 4 years here. I find that if I try to log everything even on my "cheat" day - that it keeps me logging the next day and the next. I like to have a good picture of what my week over all looked like, and…
  • Ohh right...menu for the week, meal planning was a New Year's Resolution! I just worked all weekend (rotating schedule, every other weekend I'm on Fri Sat Sun) but goal was every week to make Sunday or Monday prep day. Good thing I just have a boyfriend to feed or I'd have some grumpy children! I'm on vacation starting…
  • I bought the UP24... sigh... what a waste of money. Absolutely no account for the intensity of how hard my body is working... I could walk 5 miles or run 5 miles and it just accounted for my steps. I went back to Bodymedia Link...now with the troubles syncing to MFP I'm very frustrated. I don't understand how Jawbone…
  • Same same same, have to unlink, relink in order to sync calories burned. I'm sad enough that bodymedia was replaced by the so unsatisfactory Jawbone UP 24, please don't let it get phased out here... sigh
  • Feel free to add me; I am on here every day but not so active in forums, but still here for support if needed
  • Thanks to those posting positive, supportive, suggestions.
  • Actually I lied... just checked my thigh measurement and it's half and inch smaller. That's HUGE for me. 22 to 21.5....
  • Day 14 here, down half an inch on the largest area of the thigh. Lets hope it continues! On to 135 today!!
  • I'm doing that squat challenge too! I've been able to break them into sets of 25 too at work, and at home have been using 3# hand weights. I guess I'm only really two weeks into the regular squats thing but I haven't seen even half an inch lost yet... but I'll keep on truckin!! Thanks!!
  • Ugh I had to use all those formulas in Grad school to dose meds and fluids for people of different weights, ages, stress factors... they're all just an estimation. Everyone's body is different. I wanted to know exactly what I was burning every day - and every day is different, whether you're standing all day at a counter,…
  • With or without weights? Increase in weight amount used or increase in number of squats... or both?

  • Starting late - Day 7 here, but I happened to have been doing 50-75 squats all week w/two 5# dumbbells, so I'll pick up with everyone else today!! Day 7 80 squats - CHECK Day 8 Rest Day 9 100 squats Day 10 105 squats Day 11 110 squats Day 12 Rest Day 13 130 squats Day 14 135 squats Day 15 140 squats Day 16 Rest Day 17 150…
  • Protein bars/powders can be calorie dense, meal replacement bars by like Special K can be decent and give you that extra ~200 calories. I find cereal adds up calories pretty quickly too. I never have trouble not having enough calories :)
  • I just had the Orange Chicken for the first time... yum! I could eat Lean Cuisines for lunch and dinner daily! It makes it so easy as a single person, automatic portion control! My other favorites are Butternut Squash Ravioli and Chicken in Peanut Sauce. Now with the "Delicious Rewards" thing its great! Almost to a free…
  • Omg I joke about doing the same thing... 27 y/o single professional here, and still having the same question... Where is my prince charming!?!?!
  • Couldn't agree more!! YUM!!! Drinking some right now!
  • LOL your directions make me laugh, they're so enthusiastic, I love it!! Trying it tomorrow morning for sure! :)
  • There is a product by New Chapter called Perfect Energy - it's a complete multivitamin plus some herbs that help energy. It is GREAT. However, I don't personally take it because the down side - its WAY more expensive than your regular One-A-Day or Target's version - and it's not one a day, its three tablets per day, which…
  • I've been trying to cut back on coffee (because I can't seem to do it without half and half!) and have been adding in green and black tea. And it doesn't have to be boring :) You can make it iced, with a little bit of juice added to it (yummy!); if you're looking for the fizz, maybe try adding some seltzer! I find the…
  • Hello All, To begin, I am a pharmacist and will try to give my professional opinion from what I know about the drugs, my personal experience, and what I've heard from customers. I have personally tried Prozac (fluoxetine), Lexapro (escitalopram), Cymbalta (duloxetine) over the years, and as of today begun Effexor XR…
  • You look great!! I'm a pharmacist and know exactly how much of an impact weight loss can have on discontinuing or at least reducing your blood pressure and diabetes medications. It makes me SO happy for people when they embrace a healthier lifestyle! The other benefit of using MFP is its really really easy to keep track of…
