  • You have to make healthy eating a lifestyle, not something you do when you have time for it. As long as you're eating right and exercising most of the time, then it's OK to have some birthday cake or pizza once in awhile. i absolutely refuse to buy myself fast food anymore. Most of the time there is healthier food for me…
  • Usually when my energy is lacking, I remind myself that the feeling goes away quickly once I get going and how great it feels when I'm done. Make sure to change it up so you don't get bored. I do everything from running outside (when the weather behaves!), climbing multiple flights of stairs, cardio and strength DVDs (you…
  • I usually have something super light before a work out - a hard boiled egg or nuts & cheese. After I'm done, I'll have a pre-made cup of oatmeal that was soaked overnight with greek yogurt and almond milk or a kale/spinach smoothie.
  • I did the 30 day shred over 45 days (10 days of each) and dieted at the same time. I'm trying to lose between 5-10 lbs and didn't see a big difference, but my endurance and strength increased IMMENSELY over the time period. It is a hardcore workout that will kick your butt. I've done a lot of Turbo Jam and they seem like…
  • As long as you log all your food and exercises, then you'll know exactly how much you should have. Trust me, it's sooo hard to only eat 1200 calories when I don't exercise. As long as I log it though, I feel more accountable and am a lot less likely to go over. Entering everything in is key.
  • I actually just started making quesadillas (had one tonight) and it was so bland. I might try adding the cream cheese and see how I like it. Thanks! I like to eat mine with some fat free sour cream.
  • The legs are the biggest muscle group in the body so you want to do strength training on your legs. Think chair squats and lunges. The more muscle mass you have the more fat that you can burn.
  • That's awesome. When you get on the scale and it says the same thing over, and over and over...and sometimes it goes up it makes you want to give up sometimes! Good thing you didn't because it pays off!
  • I'm with Lose26! I never have this problem either. Today I had 80 calories left so I thought, "hmm how much ice cream can I have and not go over?" Maybe it's because I exercise before dinner. Do you exercise after??
  • Yeah, that doesn't sound right. I put in 70 minutes for 3.0mph and 3.5mph walking and the most I got was 226 calories. It's going to be different since we're different weights, but I don't think it's going to almost 400 calories different. Just make sure you put in 70 minutes under the walking, 3.0mph (to be conservative)…
  • If you want that carbonation once and awhile, then go for a Diet Dr. Pepper. I dislike most diet drinks, but I LOVE this one. If I ever have a craving for pop then it's Diet Dr. Pepper, Coke zero, or if calories allow, then a 8 oz. can of Coke. I limit myself to one can of pop a day so I don't miss out on drinking a lot of…
  • I never tell people I'm dieting, but I just say I'm counting calories. If they see me eating Taco Bell or McDonalds or something unhealthy they won't think I'm "breaking my diet." Not that I care, but you never know how critical people are. Luckily, more than half of my firm is male so they tend to be less judgmental.…
  • Just like Chalene (love her) from Turbo Jam says, "Everything's equal. You lose some, you find some." You just have to make the decision that this CAN'T happen. Make sure you record every single day. When you start skipping, then you make excuses and think, "hmm that cookie was only 80 calories" when it could be 125! It's…

  • and can you believe it? I just checked my e-mail and got a coupon for a free sandwich from guess where?? ARBY'S! The world is a tempting place!
  • Losing weight isn't about not ever being able to eat (bad for you) yummy things! As long as most of the time you're staying on track, it's OK to indulge and satisfy that craving once and awhile. On days that you eat fast food then make sure to eat items really low in calories for the rest of your meals!
  • I can only increase my mileage by 10% a week and since I ran 2 miles on Monday, then I only have to run 1.4 miles today, and then 3 miles on Friday. All on a treadmill because it's waaaay too cold and icy. I saw someone running outside this morning and I sure hope they didn't fall! We got almost 6 inches of snow yesterday…
  • I used to have one of those, but that was when I still hated drinking water. Now, I have a 32 oz water bottle (marked in 8 oz increments) and I love it! I just fill it up and then pour it into a smaller glass. It's amazing how quickly it goes! :) :drinker:
  • Yes, good job! :flowerforyou: I'm not very fast, have short legs, and just started running. At the end of February I'm starting a 12 week training program for a 1/2 Marathon in May. But before I do that I'm increasing my weekly mileage by 10% each week. I need to train before I start training! I have a 5K in Chicago on…
  • I've read that too much protein can cause stress on the kidneys. But I think that's more so if you're trying to aim for a high-protein diet (body builders think they need a lot). It won't hurt you if you go over once and awhile (I go over more than I'd like to). I can't find anything that says how much is too much though.…
  • I'm a small person (5'), but like to eat LARGE portions. Unfortunately, the smaller you are the fewer calories you're supposed to consume. I used to always eat way more than my ex and wonder why he was thin and I had a tummy. So, I just try to eat a lot of lower calorie things so I can still have a lot. Sometimes…
  • yeah it's dear or darling.. i've only heard dear, but i guess dumb and darling work too :-P
  • If it's not cardio, then I don't even record it. Sad, I know, but my heart rate isn't really increasing very much. So even when I do a 30 minute ab lab class, it's not recorded. Even though it's burning more calories than if I were being sedentary, I feel like it's making up for the overexaggeration of calories burnt and…
  • Congratulations!! Definitely a positive way to start your weekend. :flowerforyou:
  • mmm now you have me craving sweets!! Tempted to make it...all I'd have to buy is the chocolate chips! Thanks!
  • Don't quote me but I've heard you're supposed to eat within an hour of waking up. If you're waking up at 7, then it's not good for your metabolism to be waiting until 10. You want to get it started early. However, you should also eat something high in carbs within an hour after working out so you replenish your body and it…
  • Yeah, they don't have light mayo because I've asked before. You'll just have to ask for "easy mayo." Or try the mustard like others have said.. It's so sad how that mayo makes the sandwich soooo yummy!
  • Wow that's amazing! I could never give up my sweets. I always have at least one dove dark chocolate per night. I've always had a HUGE sweet tooth. I definitely give you props!
  • Yeah, it's weird. I used to HATE water. I'd only drink it if I was dying of thirst and there was nothing else to drink. I used to drink pop/gatorade, or anything else over water. I've been dieting/exercising for just over 7 weeks now and I drink water all the time!! It's great. It also saves money. :drinker:
  • If you don't work out then you can eat 1200 calories. If you do work out you eat 1200 calories + whatever you burned working out. As long as you're logging both your food and exercise on here, then it'll tell you how many calories you should be eating. Most times I work out I estimate that I burn between 400-500, meaning…
  • I think maybe you need to cut back on the gym a little bit. If you're burning too many calories then your body will be in starvation mode. Two hours is usually my limit at the gym. So spend less time at the gym! Cutting back is a lot easier than working harder. :flowerforyou:
