  • I love Zombies Run. But why do the zombies always chase me when the footpath is busy? I end up losing my supplies :(
  • Alcohol when I first started. Now I rarely drink and don't miss it at all.
  • I love baking. I've just stopped baking so much for me. I gift a lot of mine now and I've just made my MIL a birthday cake (house smells of chocolate cake now mmmmm). If I bake for home I know my husband will eat more than me. I just portion out mine so I don't go over my calories. I find I can cut back on a lot of the…
  • I get excited about the weekly food shop! Of course you can. I am a foodie and love to cook. I find there is fun in making your own meals and looking at ways of making them healthier. I don't bake cakes as much as I use to (I make food as gifts now to fill the gap) but I'd rather go to the effort of making a dessert rather…
  • 90% dark chocolate or fruit would be my go to. If I have the calories I'll have 0% fat Greek yogurt with either fruit/peanut butter/honey.
  • I'm not sure what this programme is about. It's not teaching people how to lose weight well, it's just putting various people on different diets for short/medium/long-term and seeing if they lose weight. I had hoped there would be some more science behind it. The majority of the diets included a calorie restriction anyway…
  • Muesli with coconut milk and blueberries.
  • My excuse is I ate and drank more when I was stressed or bored. Once I understood that, Im dealing with it by giving myself a pep talk when the stress comes on and I have to deal with the issue rather than masking it with food and a big glass of red wine.
  • Meal planning ahead of your shop will help. For example, I'll buy a whole chicken and use it in different meals thorough the week. If a meal uses a half a can of something I'll incorporate it in another meal. It irritates me if I waste food. I will make a list and pretty much stick to it. Look at adding in pasta, rice,…
  • Peppermint and liquorice teas are good for sore throats. Lots of water. Spicy foods. I've got sinusitis at the moment and I can't taste or smell anything so I'm going through all the herbals teas I brought thinking they sounded nice but tasted horrible.
  • I find buying seasonal fresh produce helps keep cost down. If you're buying meat look at cheaper cuts. Buy a whole chicken and put it to use in 2-3 meals rather than buy only certain cuts. I try to have at least 2-3 days worth of meal planning in the week that are meat free since that is usually the most expensive part of…
  • I hate food waste as it's a waste of time and money not only for me but for those who produced/grew it. If I made a recipe that I didn't particularly like purely on the taste of it I would still eat the leftovers. Though I would probably try and play around with it to make it more palatable.
  • The majority of the time I'd cook from scratch. I know what's exactly going into my meal and I find it's much cheaper than pre-made. I'll meal plan too and make the food I buy go further, e.g buy a whole chicken for a roast dinner then use the remaining meat on other nights for a pie or in a curry etc. then use the bones…
  • I never understood the love for juicing/smoothie/shakes. I'd rather eat the ingredients as it was. I would think it's ok if you're incorporating it into your diet a few times a week but not these 7 day juice cleanses. My sisters go through juice detoxes every now and then to lose weigh then go back to their normal eating…
  • I would focus first on smaller portions. I still eat ice cream, pasta, bacon, pizza etc. but less often and in smaller portions and fit it into my calories. Don't supersize on fast food when you're out. At home cook smaller portions but serve it on a smaller plate. This fools you into thinking there is more.
  • I love food and I love cooking. However I'm an emotional eater and I'll eat out of boredom and frustration that is a difficult mindset to get out of and then it turns into habit that can be challenging to break and change.
  • BBC good food is a good place for meal ideas. I find leftover veg is a good soup starting point. Squash too. River cottage is another good place. This soup is a fav of mine https://www.rivercottage.net/recipes/butternut-nut-butter-soup
  • If your daughter is coeliac then I believe she is entitled to gluten free food on prescription. Her GP might be a good person to speak to first and they may be able to point you in the right direction.
  • Willpower is one of those things that you need to train. Unless I'm highly stressed or got pmt if I can't fit it in my calories then I won't eat it. My methods are to make sure I plan my meals and that they'll keep me going without snacking. If I am hungry I stick to herbal teas or water. I find knowing I have a really…
  • Fennel seeds or tea. Peppermint tea. Exercise and stretching. Yoga is a good one. Lie on your back and hug your knees into your chest will help get them out. If you believe in reflexology points the digestive system is in the middle of your foot so you can massage that. Work out your triggers. Bigger portions might cause…

  • I just had Quorn mince this evening and it states in the allergy warning on the back of the packet that mycoprotein is a member of the fungi/mould family. I'm in the UK. Is the wording different in the US? Since the law suit is claiming it didn't state mould on the packaging.
  • It's a very small percentage who are allergic. I'm allergic to penicillin and found out the hard way, but it benefits the majority.
  • Bad photo off the web of the back of a Quorn mince package notes the potential allergic reaction to mycoprotein.
  • I just started weighing and logging food. I worked on portion control so I never felt like I was depriving myself. For fitness I did what I enjoyed rather than what I thought I should do. I like to hike and walk so I kept doing that as much as I could. Exercising has gone out the window now the days are getting shorter…
  • I'm making a Quorn chilli con carne tonight. I eat meat but I find it's tasty and you can cook it from frozen. I love Quorn burgers topped with hallomi cheese.
  • I know what you mean. Since the clocks change my SAD has crept back in and I have no motivation for exercise even though I know it will make me feel better. I'm sticking to things I enjoy like hiking and yoga but I work all day so it's difficult to get outside when it's daylight. I would go length swimming again but I…
  • I'm sorry to hear that. I agree. Prioritise on sleep and keep making small changes so you can create better habits. Keep going. I get seasonal affects disorder so I'm not in the best of places at the moment but trying my best to be the best me I can be.
  • Use it a lot as a replacement for cream in soups and such. It's great in cakes too.
  • Most supermarkets stock at least butternut squash in the UK all year round. Google spaghetti squash and it will show you how to cook it and tease it out into spaghetti like strands.
  • I cut out nuts and nut butters in the end because of the same reason. I only have them on the very odd occasion now and in very small portions. Alternatives for me would be a piece of fruit or Greek yogurt.
