TEFL teacher here. I have hypothyroidism and a few intolerances. Feel free to add me :)

I've been diagnosed with hypothyroidism two years ago, still haven't found the right dosage of levothyroxine for me. I am now working with a nutritionist, since doctors only care about medicines and never mention that food can make such a difference. Since changing my diet I have felt so much better and full of energy! I…

Puttanesca is so simple, quick and so so so yummy! Plus if you make carbonara in the classic way you only need: guanciale (or pancetta, if it's easier to find), pecorino, egg, pepper and bucatini (or whatever pasta type you want). Cheap and easy :) another good pasta sauce is aubergine and tomato. Diced aubergine cooked in…

Agree with what's been said: go get your TSH and iron levels checked. I had brain fog and was feeling exhausted all the time, even on my days off and found out I have hypothyroidism.

I've never heard of it before, but sounds intriguing. Would it work with yogurt instead of cream cheese? It's the only dairy thing my bowel can tolerate :D
-
FINALLY!! Thank you! Hahaha and neither are spaghetti and meatballs, btw (and so many other things)
-
cheese is disgusting

They help being more regular if you know what I mean :D

Thank you so much!!

I love coffee but I have no idea what the khalua thing is hahaha And do you put cream in it?? Like actual cream? :o I drink my coffee black, with a tsp of honey. Sometimes, if I feel like treating myself, I'll have a cappuccino with oat milk. In summer, I fill an ice cube tray with espresso, so I'm always ready for when I…

green tea with a slice of lemon or earl grey with a splash of hemp milk are my favourite

Some things that make me very gassy are: pea protein, spirulina, legumes, gluten and dairy. I'd say try to cut back on those and see if you have the same problem. How long have you had this? If it's persistent might be worth getting tested for food allergy or intolerance? Taking probiotic supplements has also helped me.

I thought I didn't like aubergines, then I chopped one and cooked it in tomato sauce with onions and garlic and it's now my favourite thing ever (and a great pasta sauce) Experiment with herbs and spices, garlic makes everything taste nicer, so stick to that :) Oregano is great with courgettes, nutmeg is amazing with…

yeah I'd never make it through without 4+ cups of coffee :D

I found that, when I have to work for 12-15 hours straight, a high protein diet is the only thing that helps. I try to eat all my daily calories before work (I do night shifts) and if I get hungry at work, I'll have a nakd bar or a banana. Make sure to drink plenty of water - it really makes a difference if you're well…

gluten, dairy and legumes do it for me. Also too much fruit might cause it

ooh will have to give it a try!

I also have days where I just hate my current body figure and compare it to a few years ago. I'm only 25 but I have been suffering with thyroid problems and food intolerances which have caused weight gain. Rather than thinking you can't go back to those days, just do everything to make it possible. Do your best and you…

Mine started a few years ago but became really bad in the last 6 months. It wasn't really out of the blue, as I have ibs, but it seemed like my ibs symptoms became way worse. I was always bloated, tired, dizzy, gassy and my bowel movement were all over the place (tmi sorry! But it is a relevant factor). I stopped eating…

these are my favourites :p

Crisps.. I could eat a whole packet in 5 minutes haha

Wine is the best! Are you having wine everyday? Try and make it even more special by only having a couple of glasses once or twice a week :) It works for me and I don't feel guilty as it's a nice and well deserved treat

I work in a bar and don't get home till about 6 or 7 am. If it's crazy busy and I don't have time to have a proper dinner (I start work at 5pm) I make sure I have a banana or a protein bar with me to keep me going. My problem is I end up eating at 7 in the morning, right before I go to bed and I think that's one of the…

Because it's healthy, maybe? I'm assuming you have googled pyramids and charts already but this is pretty good https://researchgate.net/figure/Fig-1-The-Mediterranean-diet-pyramid-simple-graphic-format-of-the-most-up-to-date_fig1_228622489 I personally don't eat bread that often and have pasta once or twice a week. I have…

I stopped eating dairy, cut down on chocolate and cured meats and my skin has significantly improved. I do still have the occasional piece of dark chocolate or parma ham every now and then (probably once every few months) and still no side effects.

Bringing back this topic because I think it should be logged, at least on long weekend shifts. Surely it's more than a (lightly) active lifestyle if you spend 13/15 hours standing up, walking around the venue collecting glasses, running to the cellar to change kegs... :)
