Today's NSV I have hit a bump in the road 1st 9lb (23lb) into my 5st (90lb) journey and I have not said, "Flip this for a game of soldiers. I'm going to stuff myself to death", as I have in the past. True, it's 10.44 and I'm still in bed, but that's a positive choice. I'll be off on today's 5 mile yomp as usual in half an…

See, you're not alone. You're here. And you're doing it. I have been back on MFP for 10 weeks and am being successful for the first time. Because I have often used the app and not lost weight, (I have even gained weight), I was loath to make contact with anyone until today. I, too, have lost 20lb. My strategies: walking…

I returned to weight training and cycling a month ago. I'm starting to lose fat (no weight lost but girth reducing) and I'm determined to carry on. Your story has inspired me

This is lovely and you look wonderful. I have returned to lifting after a break of, maybe, 20 years, and I love it. No weight lost yet - it's only been a couple of weeks - but 7 cm gone (so I'm starting to lose fat and gain muscle) and I'm eating properly as I haven't in decades. No more 1200 - 1500 kcals per day for me…

Thank you. I am prepared to use whey or a plant-based. I'll try the ones you two have suggested. It is so difficult to make the 40:30:30 C:P:F ratios I want.

Check the EM2WL group here.

Thank you, heybales. Immediately prior to starting my regime a week ago, I had been in Covid Lockdown Panic mode and lived for 6 weeks on bread and whatever sweet, sticky thing I could put on it. ! I didn't lose or gain much, if at all, but felt dreadful and looked appalling. I estimate I was eating about 2300 kcal a day…

Hello I have belonged to this group for a while and have been receiving email from EM2WL but have done nothing. Now is the time, but I don't even know where to start. I'm currently 14 st 4 lb (200lb), using weights and cycling on 1400 kcal a day. A week into my new life, I feel better than I have for years but, of course,…

Hi Be_theBest_Me I am so glad you're still posting. I find your attitude inspiring. I, too, have been here before and am back now because cycling has heloed me out of a Lockdown Doldrum and I might as well do it right if I'm going to do it at all. The last week has been wonderful. I'm still 4st (42lb) overweight but I am…

Hello, my stuff Name: Annie Age: 59 11/12 Starting weight: 14st 7lb (203lb) Goal weight: 11st 6lb (160lb) May weight loss goal: 8lb My promises to myself this month. 1) I will either cycle, walk, or run every day. If, on good days, I do more than one of these activities I will see that a bonus. If, on the other hand, I…

I am back for the last time but definitely the long run! I, too, am looking for supportive friends. The one upside I can see in the UK lockdown for me is that I have time, at last, to think about nothing but me! I'm using the time well.

Good gracious! Good for you. Beautiful!

With an attitude like that you're bound to succeed. 😊

I want to be as gorgeous a bride at 59 as I was at 21 (although I didn't realise it at the time). I don't want to look younger, just firm, toned and about 3 stone (42lbs) lighter.

You've been at the beginning before so you know what to expect. Try to make choices that will be enjoyable for you, realistic and permanent. The old adage, 'If you always do what you've always done you'll always get what you always got' is very true. Use that gymrat for inspiration, help and motivation; people love being…

Good idea! As soon as I've worked out how, I'll add you. 😊

Bran flakes, raisins and semi-skimmed milk. Delicious and quick. No time to make three rounds of hot, thickly-buttered toast.

I have heard several times that water retention can be a result of not consuming enough water; the body holds on to the water it needs to maintain a healthy water content. Therefore, the way to avoid the bloating of water retention is to ensure that enough water is taken in. This doesn't mean having to drink litres of…

I don't agree. So many low fat, low calorie alternatives are low 'food' too. We have fresh fruit snd vegetables, those who eat meat have access to low fat meats, duck as turkey. The only 'diet' food I use is diet coke and that is because I only want to drink so much water. We only need to choose well to eat well.

I have an Omron pedometer and I love it. When I first got it I had to work hard to make 10000 steps a day but I soon found myself in a daily competition with myself to step new personal bests! No shortcuts, always using the stairs, parking the car as far from my office as possible. It makes fitness fun. X:happy:
