  • I have been such a no show for most of April and I’m sorry about that. Especially since sitting less and moving more are core daily habits for me and integral to how I live my life. We had an ice storm here in northern New England on April 4. Lost power for 4 days. It was an interesting 4 days! We sometimes lose power…
  • Just catching up on your motivating posts! I think everyone has had some successes (and in many instances lots of successes!) in our Mindful March. Thank you Kathy for the mindfulness suggestion. I know while I haven't hit the mark every day, I'm both more mindful when I exercise and when I'm having a meal. I want to carry…
  • Great updates!! I going to check out the Atoms app. I can’t say I’ve been successful every day, but I am working more mindfulness into my day. I’m focusing on staying in the present moment and and not getting distracted by wandering and often intrusive thoughts. It helps being able to walk outdoors again! I just love the…
  • I’m in for a mindful March! Great idea, Kathy! I can think of several mindful activities I can work on this month. One is using the Calm app daily. I love Calm and I purchased a lifetime subscription several years ago when it was deeply discounted. They have lots of daily short sessions in addition to their core 10 minute…
  • I just LOVE this photo! I bet you had a ball at the ball!
  • Thank you, @TerriRichardson112 and welcome to our group, @Bella_Figura! We are glad you are here! This month, I’m working on increasing my daily steps. I struggle with this in the wintertime when it’s harder to walk outside. I’m working in 10 and sometimes 15 minute walking breaks on on my treadmill. If I tie it to…
  • Hi Everyone! As our regular members have no doubt noticed, Maddie and I haven't been too active in the last few months as we deal with aging parents and their escalating medical needs as well as some personal challenges. I have been feeling very badly about my absence. On the flip side, I've been leading our co-leading…
  • Hi Everyone! I’ve been focusing on walking more this month indoors since walking outdoors in New England isn’t a good fit for me. My treadmill helps a lot, but I’m also surprised how many steps I can accumulate just by walking around my house. It is nice to get a bit more sunshine. We’ve added 30 minutes of sunlight since…
  • This month I’m reacquainting myself with an old friend: my treadmill. I haven’t used my treadmill much the last few months because the weather has been so conducive to walking outdoors. My goal is simple: a 15 minute walk everyday. Between the elliptical use, outdoor walks at work to and from the parking lot, and the fun…
  • Great goals for November, @mmatcha_latte!
  • Donna, I admire you for working on shifting a good habit like exercise that you have firmly entrenched. Even though you clearly can do it, it sounds like it’s been pretty costly in terms of how you feel later in the day. Great goals for this month!
  • I don’t journal but Ive read so many benefits of journaling that it’s definitely on my “I need to try this” list. You and @77tes are very persuasive!
  • I’ve been smiling ear to ear at your updates! Lots of walking this Walktober! Maddie, I’m so glad you have an orthotic! I got an ankle foot orthotic (AFO) several months ago and it’s helped my walking and my confidence a lot. I’m less likely to trip and fall. Not sure if you have an AFO or another orthotic, but I’m so…
  • Oh, @77tes, I will have to check out that book! Thanks for the recommendation!
  • Every single minute we walk is beneficial!
  • I am so happy to hear that the “no snowballs” theme has resonated with so many of you! @MadisonMolly2017, you are dealing with so much stress right now with your Dad and I’m so glad you are taking care of your health! Also, I got an ankle-foot-orthotic several months ago and it has definitely made walking easier for me…
  • Wonderful news about the solar panels, @77tes! Congrats and well done on your many sewing projects this month! I can’t say I’ve been in bed by 10PM every night, but I have been turning in consistently earlier and it’s made a huge difference in how I feel and how quickly I can recall things…especially people’s names. I…
  • I’m getting a very late start to August. It was an absolute delight to catch up and read your posts! @TerriRichardson112….wow! I love the poems that you have shared with us! They are melodic, heartfelt, and just lovely! Please keep them coming! And @77tes, great job on your sewing projects! I love your hat! I spent the…
  • My goal this month is to track my food everyday. I’ve tracked 14 of 23 days so far, or just over 60%. I know I can do better. I don’t always have my phone with me when I’m eating, and then often I move on to other things and just forgot. I may try pre-logging my food.
  • @PackerFanInGB, so happy to have you back!!! Taking meds and vitamins on schedule is important. And tying it to your morning coffee makes it a slam dunk. I doubt you’ll forget to have your morning coffee. :) Visual clues are very powerful.
  • Another vote for setting intentions! Each morning I consider what’s my top priority for the day. What’s the one thing I want to make sure I get done? These are different from my daily habits and routines. Those pretty much run on autopilot. I choose something I’ve been stressing about or something that’s risen to the…
  • I am very interested in what you discover about productivity apps, @mkksemail. I have used a few in the past such as Evernote and Things, but for most of my non work life, I just use Apple Notes. I maintain a detailed and categorized Excel to-do list at work and throughout the day I jot down the major things I accomplished…
  • These are great habits to focus on this month! And you’re right, @77tes, even 15 minutes makes a difference! @JesusGirl62, great idea to wait 30 minutes after eating to assess whether you want or need a snack. It’s so easy to get into the habit of eating a snack/sweet after dinner without pausing to consider if it’s truly…
  • @77tes, lots of wisdom in your notebook cover! @MadisonMolly2017, great point about dehydration. Another good week for me. Stress is manageable and my work deadline will be behind me in mid-June.
  • Great insights, @MadisonMolly2017! Your mantra made me smile!
  • Sounds like a wonderful Mother’s Day, @77tes! I didn’t see my daughter in person, but we did play a round of mini golf in VR. It was super fun and it didn’t seem like we were 2000 miles apart. We are going to start playing weekly. I hope everyone had a great Mother’s Day!
  • Unloading and stacking wood is a superb workout. Good for you. @snowshoe072!
  • Welcome back, @texasgardnr! COVID is so brutal to so many people. I’m glad you’re getting your energy back but I know it must be frustrating taking so long. I think you’re smart to focus on just one small unique thing to do or get started. The daily practice is a big step forward.
  • Welcome back, @Jana_2020! I’m so happy to see you! Affirmations certainly are a powerful tool. And I’m glad you’re making self-care a priority.
  • That is a lovely May poem, @77tes and thank you for sharing it with us. Spring in New England is an exercise in patience. But just in the last week, so many trees started flowering and budding. Even a mundane trip to the grocery store yields new sights to behold. What a spectacular time of year! I like your May goals.…
