I am a homeschool mom of 2 but I also am working on my masters degree and run an after school program. I am constantly on the go and immersed in the stress of teaching and learning. I feel like I live on protein bars and shakes during the school year. i know they are not the best but I figure they are a better alternative…

I am not a night shifter and I hate to admit that I am middle age but I have a small private group designed to talk daily, set goals, and discuss challenges. If you are interested in joining message me. Karen

I think normal is a relative term. I had a lot of symptoms for several years and was tested several times every time being normal. After I was diagnosed with Hypothyroid I found out the my normal tests were just hundredths of a percent over the range of normal. I can still lose weight if I am am very close to perfect with…

I am a 40 something that returned to school a few years ago. I think the key is good planning and time management. I agree with getting exercise first thing or making exercise a priority. Be flexible in what you do and how you do it for exercise. I also plan and pack lots of healthy portable foods like almonds, oranges, V8…

Merry Christmas Everyone! As for eating over the next two days, I am going to indulge for the one meal only, make sure I exercise, and stay on track the rest of the day. I doubt I will journal my calories though. Karen

In addition to what everyone else said, sometimes I write motivational messages to myself and stick them on the alarm clock. When I am weak and tempted to go back to bed I have my own words staring back at me reminding myself what I really want and that it is not extra sleep.

One of my daughters was terrible. It was such a relief when she graduated from high school. She moved out shortly after. She learned very quickly that life at home wasn't so bad and mom wasn't really that stupid. She is 21 now and doing wonderful with a great job. She is the most pleasant person. I love spending time with…

My daughter is vegan for moral reasons. I think this makes it easier for her to stick to. Her beliefs are very strong. I taught her to cook, and we have done a fair amount of research so she gets proper nutrition. The hardest part is eating out or social eating at friends houses/school parties.

I work part time so it is a little different, but I never feel like my husband sees my non-monetary contributions to the household. I think he probably resents me being home. But he wouldn't admit it because it was an arrangement that we discussed and agreed upon together. Karen

my 12 year old has always been vegetarian and vegan for a year. When she became vegan the only condition I placed on it was that she had to learn to cook and eat balanced meals. I think it is beneficial to practice transitions during brick workouts. During training for my first tri I would set up my transition area in the drive way and go through the motions. It helped ease my worry about 'putting it all together.' When I worked I would often walk or run on my lunch break. I would clean up with baby wipes and usually just wore my hair up all day. It was a great way to make up a work out or to have a day to sleep in.

I'll tell you why you shouldn't give up... My dad had cancer for 8 years. He made a lot of plans for end of life. He wanted to die at home. One of the best things I did for my running is join a running club. The one in my town is full of runners at all levels who can run with you and give you advice. My guess is that when you run outside you don't track your pace the same as you would on a treadmill where your pace is fixed so it is harder. Some days I will…

I often run outside before dawn alone. I take the necessary precautions, but people always have something to say. I find it irritating but I would rather run. I honestly can't imagine living in fear and feel sorry for those that do.
