"Living Large" can be quite delightful When it means the money is flowing free But "Living Large" can be quite frightful When it means my girth has overtaken me Advice from a friend was most insightful "There is this online place called MFP"

I checked out this thread, because the University of Kentucky (UK) is in the "Final Four" basketball game in the NCAA championship here is the US....I am a huge UK fan and we are all excited here, so you can see why I jumped on this thread. I know....clueless! But if it helps, my ancestry is UK....Yorkshire England on me…

Prayer (out loud and on purpose) helps tremendously...pray for those that have hurt you as well as for yourself. They are also broken people who hurt others.

AGREE!

You look terrific! Thanks for being brave...it encourages others. Heck, it encourages me. Well done! :flowerforyou:

Great job Leslie...way to persevere! Brave too! I am not ready to show myself in a bathing suit yet! LOL. The difference in photos is definitely noticeable. PROUD OF YOU!!!

Great Job...I'm motivated!

I walked alot in the summer and when the weather is decent now. My husband walks with me after dark, so that helps. A nice low impact aerobics dvd can be very helpful. Leslie Sansone has some walking dvds that are good and can even be found in the free section of some "on demand" cable networks. Find what you like and do…

Hi, I am 51 and have lost 28 pounds since July. I never thought I could overcome the weakness of overeating, BUT I have...sorta! I blamed my weight on menopause (it is an issue), my desk job (I do sit alot), and everything else I could think of EXCEPT my eating habits. MFP has provided me with a single place to log and…

Yep, it can be done! I have lost 27 since July. It is slower and more difficult than in my younger days, but definitely achievable. Hang around this site, make some good friends who will cheer you on, do the same for others and it is a whole lot more enjoyable than trying by yourself. There is so much good advice here; my…

Nothing like God sending a song to inspire and encourage. He is my biggest motivator!

I agree!

YES! Someone in the "granny" stage of life has done it! You are now my inspiration! Congrats! The change is remarkable!

Hi Sue. It's great to be active and you absolutely should be. But, I have found that weight after age 50 (esp for women in menopause) comes off better by lowering calories along with the exercise and by not eating as much in the evening. The ease of logging everything on MFP has been the biggest help for me to keep my…

If anything can be made into a dip, I dip something into it. Mashed potatos, cottage cheese, pudding, even baked beans. There's always some yummy combination to be made! Also love mashed potato/gravy/biscuit sandwiches. Also I do NOT like too many meats warmed up later. I would rather eat them cold.
-
I do this too! Except I eat blue first, then red, brown, orange, green, and yellow last! One at a time.

Very funny story...and true to the person I think I have come to know through MFP! I rarely pass anyone. Maybe an occasional parent with a young kid on training wheels. Once I went around a young girl on training wheels and she decided to do what your cyclist did...speed up. She decided we were in a race and she wasn't…

This is a valid point, because I have always been an emotional eater. However, my stomach does growl and carry on something fierce. I think I have created a monster with my past overindulgences. I always knew when I gave in to emotional eating that I wasn't even hungry. Thank you for a very insightful bit of advice!

I really believe you are correct about the withdrawal. I have only been working at this for a few weeks. I hope my stomach gets with the program and soon. Thank you so much!!

Thank you for all your suggestions. I will definitely be changing my breakfast (more protein, less cereal) and snacks (more protein, less yogurt and granola bars). I certainly eat a lot of fruit already, but probably not enough veggies, just one big salad each day at lunch and a veggie with my sweet potato at night (no, I…

I have a Weight Watchers scale. It was inexpensive and measures in ounces. I like it...even seeing a few ounces down is a boost. However you will also see those few ounces up if you weigh daily. If that bugs you, you may just want to stick with your old scale.

You are so funny! Have fun on your bike this weekend. Sometime I will have to get some tips from you. My husband and I ride only occassionally because...um...the list is a mile long why we put off something we enjoy doing so much once we make ourselves get out there and do it.

Hi everyone. Just a quick post to say thanks to all of you for sharing on this board....the good and the bad. It helps to know I am not alone when I struggle and that there are those who will rejoice in any victory I have, no matter how small. I am cheering all of us on and praying esp. for those who are experiencing…

Dang it! No one ever tells me I don't look 50! Seriously, you look great. I am here for support too. To give and receive. Love MFP so far! (only been a member for one day!)
