  • I just try and estimate, also google the charts that show you how much a serving of something is in relation to something you can eyeball so that you don't just get crazy. Like a serving of protein (meat) should be the size of your palm, etc. I also try to stick with protein and veggies in those situations. My boyfriend's…
  • Do not do that, its very bad for you. I once followed a (bad) diet plan in my early 20's that had me using mostly nonfat products and I lost hair by the handfuls and was exhausted all of the time. You need a reasonable amount of fat in your diet daily for body functions and energy.
  • I'm currently on day 19 of Whole 30 and I eat 2-3 servings of fruit a day. I've lost 7 1/2 lbs so it doesn't hinder weight loss, as long as you keep it to a reasonable amount and make room for it in your day. I go for strawberries, pineapple, raspberries, blueberries and tangerines most often. I never grew up with much…
  • You need to date a different kind of woman. I've never looked at my boyfriend's cellphone other than to pick it up to hand it to him when he forgot it in the car. Trust is a good thing.
  • Try Icelandic yogurt as well, two brands I see in stores most often are Siggi and Smari. I know the Smari brand notes 15 grams of protein in each cup and are really good. Icelandic yogurt is even thicker than Greek yogurt, really delicious.
  • I'd love to join! I started yesterday (1/4). I really want a nutritional restart after realizing that I HAVE to have a sweet after lunch & dinner and that my eating is super pasta/bread/grains focused. I want to break those things and, full confession, I'd love to get a head start on losing some weight along the way. I'm…
  • csman49 is absolutely right in all respects. I had a 40% patella tendon tear in my left kneecap from an accident at work and you just cannot push your knee/s if they are injured. Trust me. My injury also made bending my knee and going up and down stairs pretty painful. I understand how when you are new to exercising that…
  • I have lost about 8lbs and 12.5 inches in 8 weeks and I rely a lot on Greek yogurt & cheese as snacks. I especially love marinated string cheese as a snack. As long as you aren't lactose intolerant, I don't see why you should have to avoid it if you like it and it is helping you get to your goals. Just make sure you…
  • I think its most important to use the one that you like the best, because you're less likely to talk yourself out of it and from what you've wrote, feel you've been more successful in calorie burn. When I use the treadmill (I do very fast interval walking, I cannot run yet due to recent foot surgery), I've found that…
  • It does change I'm not sure if it is the method, or just age. About 6 years ago I lost 32lbs, mostly doing cardio with some very light strength training (I had access to a small home gym at the time) & the Weight Watcher's point system. My belly flattened out quickly, I also lost a lot of inches in my butt. I've gained…
  • Its amazing and one of my favorite things. Its made from corn ground into tiny, tiny bits, and simmered in a liquid. I like to use chicken stock and milk to make it really creamy and flavorful, but some people use water. I also like to add a bit of fresh grated parm or asiago cheese. If you eat it just after it is cooked,…
  • I recently joined a gym and met with a trainer to design a workout that would be effective, but work around an old knee injury and recent foot surgery. She has me split between muscle building with weights and cardio on the treadmill & elliptical to build muscle, which will in turn achieve fat loss better than just fat…
  • Like sun_fish said, I plan it into my day. I don't live in a cold climate, but I have to take a bus & walk about 15 minutes to get to the gym. It is SO easy to talk myself out of going. Especially at the end of a workday. So I realized I have to plan it. After work I get off the train and hop right on the bus. Before I…

  • Its not expensive if you buy it at Trader Joe's. I'm new to it myself, so I just cook it with low sodium chicken broth, whatever spices I'm feeling that day (usually garlic, thyme & rosemary) and then throw some chopped fresh spinach into it a few minutes before its done. The spinach wilts down and gets me some extra…
  • I agree that it totally depends on how you are with breakfast. I am super tired and hangry by 11am if I don't eat something. But I work on my feet and am always running around. But on my days off, I often don't eat breakfast and eat lunch late and feel completely fine. So for me, days that I'm active (workdays), breakfast…
  • I like to mix things up and decided a long time ago that I didn't want to restrict any food groups because I learned after trial and error, that that isn't successful for me. However, to make the best use of my food budget, I'll decide on a meal plan for each meal that week (breakfast, lunch & dinner) and then eat the same…
  • I know quite a few people who haven't had success with the changes to their program and them came here and started to see success again. This is a great resource for losing weight and getting into shape. Goodluck!
  • No, definitely not. If I'm doing well, the mortgage is paid off, she's recently widowed and on a small fixed income it wouldn't feel right at all. If it were a financial hardship to help her out in this way I would consider it but it seems completely unnecessary in this set of circumstances.
  • My non-meat go-tos are: Roasted Red Pepper & Tomato Soup (I could live off this stuff!) Washed & cut up butternut squash bags (but only if I'm going to use them in the next day or two. They're perfect for butternut squash borani) TJ's Toasted Oatmeal Flakes (one of my favorite cereals ever) Frozen Garlic Naan Frozen Brown…
  • I'm lucky in that Do-Si-Dos are the favorite of both my dad & myself so I had one serving (with ice cold milk of course!) and gave the rest of the box to him. I feel good because I got a taste that fit into my day and showed a great willpower win by then giving the rest away! Call it a NSV if you will, lol! I was a…
  • Estee Lauder Pure White Linen. Its really subtle and light and I get tons of compliments.
  • I think it just depends on if it upsets your stomach or not. I have a similar schedule and eat immediately after I get home, then workout and I've never had a problem, but I've heard that some people get an upset stomach. So if you feel fine, then don't worry.
  • Those two babies are exactly why you need to leave someone that treats you like that. They need to see a mom that is happy, loved and supported by her SO, not verbally abused and belittled. They need a positive example of what a GOOD and healthy relationship is so that they can be that to their own future SO/spouse &…
  • Oh yeah I never log the calories I burn during my workday or anything like that. I only log planned exercise calories (like my C25K run/walk calorie burn or the 30D Shred burn). And I don't log cleaning or whatever else either, just planned workout effort. Thanks!
  • I think this couple needs to learn to compromise and find a middle ground. Thats going to be one of the most important things to take into their marriage to make it last and now is the best time to start that off. My SO and I are discussing marriage and we're going to have to find that same compromise. I'd rather run off…
  • Assuming that all tattoos are chosen to be cool and trendy is rather short sighted and simple. Most people I know chose their tattoos for a specific meaning. Mine are both symbols that represent loved ones that passed on, one for my mother who I lost when I was 18 and one for my late-fiance who died nearly 6 years ago. I…
  • I started it yesterday and just did Day 2 of Level 1 today! I think the jumping jacks are going to kil me, lol, but I actually do like it. It definitely gets my heart pumping and a good sweat by the end. Feel free to add me as well!
  • With my late-fiance we had a joint account where we deposited our part of rent & bills and a joint savings that we had auto transfers of a small amount each paycheck (I think $50?) which we used for date nights and anniversary dinners, things like that. The rest of our paychecks we kept in our own accounts and paid our own…
