Its not expensive if you buy it at Trader Joe's. I'm new to it myself, so I just cook it with low sodium chicken broth, whatever spices I'm feeling that day (usually garlic, thyme & rosemary) and then throw some chopped fresh spinach into it a few minutes before its done. The spinach wilts down and gets me some extra greens.
I keep seeing this recipe for Garlic Mushroom Quinoa on Pinterest and really want to give it a try sometime.

Quinoa is great. ....I eat it every day. .....I cook it in water and add canned tomatoes cilantro garlic and a pinch of my favorite seasonings. ....yummy0

Really blah tasting but fills you. I boil it with a chicken flavored broth add grated cheese with broccoli0

I usually cook my quinoa and add cucumbers, feta, ground flax seed, chia seeds, red onion and apple cider vinegar. I love vinegar, so I add a ton of it, but you can sub with other things too. Sometimes I add different things like chick peas or lentils too. Depends what I have on hand and what I feel like. Good luck.0

I like to throw it in soup- otherwise it can be a tad blah. Excellent source of protein though!

I just cook it with water, 1/2 spoon of coconut oil and salt. Let It sit while I sautéed some organic veggie garden frozen mix with onion and garlic. Once it's nice and soft and mix the quinoa in and it's all done.0

I'm so making this tomorrow. I'm so tired of mine even though I really like. I need a new flavorful recepi for quinoa. They are usually so flat and boring but this one has me looking foward to it.

Yeah, I know the feeling. My friend introduced me to quinoa about a year ago and I honestly hated it. But I learn to make it in way a really like it. For some reason the first time I had it it tasted bitter. I might have been the way it was cooked. Try it, u might like, it's very easy to make it. However I don't recommend the instant ones, they taste funky(the ones I tried at least.)0 -

I saved on my pinterist, I'm def. gonna try it. That's what I like about the way I came up with making my quinoa. I can freeze it as a side in small containers and it defrost in less the 3 min and it tastes and look fresh. I don't have time so this is perfect. The least ideas for heathy eating I have is for breakfast cause of my limitations when It comes to time in the morning. Thanks0 -
My favorite is cooking it in a rice cooker. 1 cup of quinoa, 2 cups water or broth, 1 tsp knorr granulated chicken stock (this has msg so you may want to omit) and I grind my own dried rosemary. You can also toss in small handfuls of onions, garlic, carrots, celery. Then hit cook cycle. Once done fluff and add one TBS of a tasty oil. I like Bragg's unfiltered olive, nutiva coconut, nutiva red palm oil, or spectrum roasted peanut oil.
Then in the morning I like to dice and fry a few strips of bacon, some green onions, mushrooms. Toss in some quinoa and scramble an egg in it. Its so good.0 -
I make quinoa burgers with black beans and steak seasoning...super easy. Also if I don't want to actually make burger patties I just add some homemade spicy tomato sauce and the beans and serve it on a grilled portobella mushroom cap with some salad greens. It's soooo good like that! Quinoa salad is also awesome.0

I use Quinoa whenever I would normally use rice. Make the same way as rice. A little crunchier but I've gotten use to it and I love it.0

Quinoa is delicious and some of your recipes look yummy. Just don't forget to rinse it well before cooking - that helps to get rid of the bitterness.
Just wanted to add that it is good for breakfast too in place of oatmeal.0 -

I love quinoa but not as a cold salad. I like it as a hot side dish in place of rice. My favorite way to cook it is in my rice cooker. I do one cup quinoa, two cups No Salt Added Chicken Stock, 1 tsp minced garlic, 1/2 tsp chili powder, 1 tsp cumin, 1 tsp course ground pepper and 1/2 tsp sea salt. Set it to the "white rice" setting and leave it until it beeps. It makes an excellent side dish. You can substitute any spices you like but this combination is my favorite.
If you are cooking it on the stove, toast the quinoa with a little oil then add the liquid (broth or stock makes it much more flavorful) and spices. Bring to a boil, lower to simmer and cook it until the liquid is absorbed and the little rings are separating from the grain.0 -

I am limited on time in the morning too. Sticking with quinoa - you can use one cup quinoa, one cup water, one cup coconut milk (or regular milk), add a tsp cinnamon and 1/2 cup dried cranberries or chopped up apple or both! If you use a rice cooker, cook it on the white rice setting. Scoop half cup servings into greased muffin tins and freeze. Pop them out when they are frozen and throw them in freezer baggies. Microwave 3-5 minutes to get them hot again. (You can use the same recipe with steel cut oatmeal instead of quinoa but use the porridge or brown rice setting on your rice cooker and add an extra half cup of water.) I add a little cream and some walnuts - yum!
I also make a breakfast egg sandwich that I freeze ahead - no quinoa involved. If you want that recipe just let me know.
