  • Ice Cream- I like ice cream, but, it has so many calories for so little. I'd rather have more popsicles or chocolate.. lol I only buy ice cream in that teeny carboard single container and it rarely feels worth it.
  • That sounds pretty cool and like it has a lot of the same features with the bonus of being free. If I get bored of PlateJoy I may give it a try. With PlateJoy, it automatically generates your week of meals, but, you can hit swap on any you don't like. You can avoid ingredients- like I picked to avoid avocado as it gives me…
  • I used Marie Kondo's methods to do a huge declutter about 5 years ago- something like 55 bags of stuff went to Goodwill. I didn't pare my books down heavy at all, just got rid of old college textbooks and books I didn't enjoy or books that I started reading and then didn't like. I still have tons of books and I always…
  • Partly Fen-phen, my mom and all her friends were on it. By the 80's, fast food was everywhere, junk food was everywhere and rushed parents were nuking frozen chicken nuggets and making boxed mac n cheese for their kids on a nearly daily basis. At least, that was the situation where I grew up. Adults in the 80's had access…
  • I aim for 10,000; but I don't always hit it. I have a desk job and homeschool my kid in the evenings and cook/clean, all that fun stuff. Most days I get it, but, sometimes my timing just doesn't work out. I probably miss it once every couple weeks. Most of my steps are taken literally jogging around my dining room table…
  • Take a break. 4 years ago I was getting some twinges above the shoulder blades after doing pushups. They were definitely twinges, not just the ache of a good workout. I made the mistake of mentioning it to my mom who said I was just being a baby. Anyhow, kept doing my daily pushups and two days later at work I sneezed and…
  • I'm also a cheese person. Coffee is also nonnegotiable.
  • Don't start at the gym unless you really, really want to. When you have 100 lbs to lose, your own body is enough to start out lifting. If you want, you could maybe pick up a couple dumbbells and then follow one of the many videos available on the internet. Start out with dumbbells you can lift over your head at least 7…
  • I know it's going to sound lame, but, I'm on a scrambled eggs with kale and mushrooms kick. I would have eaten it for every meal today if I didn't have leftover lasagna that needed to be eaten.
  • I like to make bake a sheet pan of cubed sweet potato, zucchini, bell peppers and black beans (canned). After that's baked for whatever length of eternity it takes for sweet potato to be tender, I go ahead and fry a couple eggs for on top of it. I leave the yolk a bit runny and it's delicious on the sweet potato.
  • Hey all, I'm back again, though, I think last time I was serious about this I was in the younger group.. lol Anyhow, I've done a lot of half starts over the last nearly 10 years I've been on MFP. I believe the most I've lost is 30 lbs. I'm back at my original setpoint, the weight I was at age 14. I lost it all at age 17…
  • I weigh or measure pretty much everything. However, every once in awhile I might have like 3 jellybeans out of the candy bowl at work. If that's all I have, I don't bother logging it. It's like 8 calories. I'm usually under my calories anyways and I've averaged a loss of 1.5 lbs a week for the last 16 weeks. I measure…

  • I am apple shaped, so if the waist fits the rest of the pant looks gross and saggy. That sounds like it might be closer to your problem? My best basic black work pant is at JCPenney, the Arizona Schoolgirl Bootcut Pant in junior sizing. They are often on sale for around $20 a pair, around black friday I've bought them for…
  • I've always thought that around 1200 calories per day, or even less and never eating back exercise calories was the best way to lose weight. Couldn't stick with it ever. Would do it for awhile, then start feeling sick all the time and have to quit. I'm over 200 lbs and active. So, it turns out that for me, 2300 calories…
  • Poverty and obesity are more likely to go hand in hand in developed nations. I've always gained weight when at my poorest. It is really hard to focus on what you are eating when you are struggling to keep the lights on and the car from being repo'd. When your electricity is shut off, it's cheaper to get several dollar…
  • Yup. I sabotaged myself for years trying to diet like someone who has only 10 lbs to lose. Now I use a fitbit and eat at a 1000 calorie deficit based on the calorie burn from that. At first, my weight loss only looked like a 500-750 calorie deficit weight loss. But, now that I'm over 90 days into this I'm losing at a rate…
  • Genetics. I had loose skin before I even started losing weight.

I'm guessing you guys started April 19th, my weight on April 19th was 236.4 GW: Overall 140-145 For this challenge I'm just going to stay on target everyday and it is what it is. :) I'm betting that it will be right…

  • I used to have a couple texture issues. I couldn't eat eggs for the longest time or meat unless it was heavily processed and nugget shaped. I love oranges, but, cant just bite into a section of them. I use a knife, cut open each individual section and then just pick the fruit bits out of it to avoid the strings. I can't…
  • I had preeclampsia while pregnant and gained 88 lbs during my heart condition episode. It was all water weight and was gone shortly after the pregnancy was over. Lost all 88 lbs in 2 weeks. I had pitting edema though and there were concerns that I was in heart failure. Weight gain as a direct result of heart disease is…
  • Look, if you've gone from 1400 calories to 1600 calories, there's a good chance you are consuming at least 6 more ounces of food. If those 200 calories are in vegetables, you could be consuming 16 more ounces of food. Do you understand what I'm getting at? I radically increased how many vegetables I eat at the beginning of…
  • The only thing that really annoys me about carbs is that you can end up with more water weight fluctuation. Each gram of carbs uses 3-4 grams of water during digestion. I was eating around 180 grams of carbs per day, now I'm eating around 220 grams of carbs because I'm eating 10 servings of fruit and vegetables. The water…
  • It's going to depend on the ride. I'm not particularly large-chested, but I barely fit into Kraken at Sea World. It was very uncomfortable. I head Manta was even smaller, so didn't even attempt it. I was around 235 when I tried to ride. I've fit into all the rides at Disney though even at 243 or so with really not even any…
  • Someone else mentioned trendweight. I definitely love that site. Sometimes the best choices for you temporarily cause an increase on the scale. I recently started a goal of eating at least 10 servings a day (28 ounces) of fruit and vegetables. The result being that in the last 7 days I'm at 0 lbs of weight loss. I've lost…
  • I'm sorry. I've never had it quite as bad as that, but, to a much lesser extent I've been there. I did something stupid a couple years ago, I ate like 800 calories per day and walked 7-12 miles and made myself fabulously ill. I was starving all the time even months after I'd stopped. I was nauseous a lot, it always felt…
  • I just want to be another person to caution that 1200 calories isn't right for everyone. I've lost 1.5 lbs per week, nearly 16 lbs so far, the equivalent of a 750 calorie per day deficit, eating around 2300-2800 calories per day. However, I'm active despite my desk job. I always get 10,000 steps and around a half hour of…
  • That's weird, I thought I posted my weight last week. I guess I forgot to click thru? Or MFP ate my post.. lol Ready for Summer 10 week challenge Name: Jennifer Age: 34 Height: 5' 5" SW: 243.6 overall start weight.
