Is it okay to just lose a lb per week?
I despise logging with every fiber of my being. Instead, I am using a meal planning site. All the meals are in a 300-500 calorie range. I have two of those meals per day and then make up the other calories in coffee and yogurt. I make my coffee the same every time, so, I just use a scrap piece of paper to keep track of how…

Anyone here using a meal planning site like PlateJoy or eMeals?
I'm trying PlateJoy, my sister is trying eMeals. So far I like it. I'm one of those people who is usually a pretty lazy cook. My only seasoning is salt or maybe a sprinkle of "Italian Seasoning". When I'm trying to eat healthy, I'm usually eating plain chicken with plain vegetables. Anyhow, I'm mostly using what they call…

I'm looking for a fiber/protein drink mix that's lower in calories and maybe comes in fruit flavors?
Anyone seen anything like that? I'm just looking for an easy midday thing. It can be just a few grams of fiber and protein, just something to feel like a treat and take the edge off. I'd prefer something with real sugar, I'll just use less of it, rather than a bitter-tasting sugar replacement.

Back again, in my 12th week of logging.
Hi all, I'm back again. I was last here a couple years ago I believe. Started doing stupid stuff like eating 800 calories and not eating back my exercise calories and made myself sick. Had nausea every morning for about 6 months. Only thing my doctor could find was somewhat lowered albumin levels which have corrected with…

36 days in, 20.2 lbs down with 43.8 lbs left to my first goal!
I'm not new here nor am I new to weight loss. I was a fat kid, a fat teen and I topped out at 220-ish before starting to work on the weight at age 17. Lost the weight over a span of a year and hung out around 143-155 for around a decade. Lost my job/ declared bankruptcy/ lost my house in late 2008 and regained it all in a…

Interesting beginner situation..
So, here's the deal, until November, I had a very active job where I typically walked 12 miles in the course of a shift. Unfortunately, I also had frequent foot injuries. I had the opportunity to grab a desk job and took it. Feet feel great now. Now it's been a few months, and I hate the sedentary level I hit on my…

Ever switch to a 'lighter' version of a food and then discover the change wasn't that helpful?
Years ago I switched from using half and half to using whole milk. I remember reasoning that it would be a calorie reduction but I could still enjoy my coffee "not black". Yesterday I was visiting my parents and without any thought at all, I used half and half. Now, I only have two cups of coffee a day as it is because I…

Whey powder in coffee?
It would seem that my regular calorie overages result from having my coffee (with milk and agave nectar) and breakfast as well. I'm trying to figure out a way to make those one and the same.. lol I'm thinking a blended coffee beverage with whey powder? Anyone else do this or have a decent recipe? I've been experimenting…

Recent change in activity, how to adjust calories?
I've had my activity level set at sedentary because I was just home all day with my 2 year old and then going walking and eating back my calories burned walking. I just started a new job this week where I work as a stocker in a Lowe's/Home Depot type store. I spend my day walking around pulling either pallets or large…

Bombed out royally on week 4 day 1, advice?
So, I've been mixing it up a bit, sometimes doing couch to 5k on a treadmill and other times doing it on a hilly paved trail. For week 3, I did two sessions on the treadmill and one session on the trail and overall it was tough, but fine. Now, I do extra walking because I'm having a hard time staying low enough on calories…

Help me find a new yogurt to try?
I'm so tired of trying yogurts that are way too sweet or have a weird chemical taste to them. I used to love Yoplait, but I've been picking up on a weird chemical taste in them. I've tried a couple of the greek yogurts, but, the only one's I've found are the 0% ones and those have tasted gross to me, kind of like an…

Really thinking of trying to walk 26.2 miles this Saturday..
Just what the title says, I'm thinking of just going out on the 6 mile trail I usually do and repeating it until I hit 26.2 miles. I haven't done anything crazy in awhile, it seems about time to try something nuts just to see what I can do. Most I've walked in a day is around 6 miles, but I feel fine at that point. So, I…

Help! Couch to 5K week 3 eating at a deficit
I don't seem to be gaining any speed. I've been at this a few weeks now because I started walking a couple weeks before starting couch to 5k. I can't seem to get below a 52 minute 5k. I was able to do a 52 minute 5k 3 weeks ago and that's as fast as I seem to be able to do it now. I was reading a bit and realized that…

Endomondo Users, Heart Rate Monitor?
I've been using endomondo to keep me motivated. I really want to get a heart rate monitor, but I'm torn between the Polar FT4 or FT7 OR getting the Polar Wearlink+ with bluetooth that should work with Endomondo. Anyone here using the heartrate monitor with Endomondo? Is there a way to import the regular polar data to…

Lot's of miles but not much speed?
So I have a bit of a predicament. Long story short, got my treadmill about a month ago. I like using my treadmill to do things like sprints and the couch 2 5k program. BUT, I hate it for any distance. Anyhow, setup with my mom to go walking everyday on a 3.12 mile trail. She started flaking out on me, so I setup to go with…

Looking for other friends with open food diary :)
I'm new to the site, I'm 30 years old with a nearly 2 year old daughter. At my last weigh in I weighed 224.8lbs. I'm looking for friends who log and have an open food diary because I'd love to get new ideas for how to incorporate more variety. Especially want friends with a similar amount of weight to lose, I'm aiming to…

How often to walk/jog when your just getting started?
I've owned a treadmill for about ten days now, my goal was to do about 3 miles a day on it. Initially I was doing these in 3 separate 1 mile segments. Last night I finally managed 3 miles at once. I've missed a few days as I was sick last week. Anyhow, since I'm doing relatively low miles anyways, is it safe to go ahead…

Fiber and cholesterol- just a quick note!
I see a lot of posts encouraging the use of fiber to lower cholesterol. While this is true, it needs to be a little more specific. There are two types of dietary fiber, soluble and insoluble. Unless it is specified on the label, you can generally assume that the fiber is insoluble. Insoluble fiber creates indigestible bulk…

Exercising with a terrible resting heart rate?
I can't go to a doctor right now, laid off and don't have insurance. I started having heart problems while I was pregnant with my daughter, she was delivered early due to my preeclampsia. Anyhow, my resting heart rate seems to be between 105-115 according to my monitor and around 95ish when I count it myself. Walking at…
