  • @conniewilkins56 - Losing weight has been the best gift I ever could ever have and it seems that you feel the same way. The gift of movement, energy, health, increased confidence and self esteem. And yes, I also hear you on the difficulty even now, of resisting temptation and just diving into a bag of something salty or…

  • @sarahozigi - yes. Absolutely. My first 4 months tracking on MFP I did not engage in any intentional exercise. I lost 49 pounds during that time. (Starting weight was 286.5). After 4 months I decided that I needed to add strength training to the equation because I was losing muscle along with the fat and I wanted to try to…
  • Well, I did manage to figure out at least one day of exercise when I am in Houston. I reached out to the Great Houston Rowing Club to find out if they allowed guest rowers. And they invited me to join them on May 16th!! I don't know if I will be in a single, a double or a quad, but I think this will be great fun to row in…
  • Awe thanks @Charmmeth! Photo is 6 months and I've lost a bit more - but those last 15 pounds all came from my top - went down 2 cup sizes, but honestly, shirts fit better now and it's easier to run, so it's all good. :)
  • @charmmeth - nicely done! I want to be like you someday. :)
  • Hooray for Poobah! So tell us, which has been harder, quitting smoking or losing 71 pounds?

  • @mmdeveau - Congratulations on completing your second Virtual Broadsheet! Let's hope the next one will be in person. Interesting what you are saying about the vaccine and weight gain. I noticed some weight gain with the first shot that wasn't explained by anything other than inflammation/water retention. With the second…
  • I started averaging my daily weigh ins and really only pay attention to the 7 day average. For example, I gained 2.3 pounds on Friday, yet my 7 day average was down .5 pounds from the week before, so I was really right on target. Helps me manage the daily fluctuations without freaking out.
  • @Dante_80 - You are spot on. Very insightful. You might be giving @NovusDies a run for his money in the profound statement department. @NovusDies - oh my, I didn't realize just how seriously ill you were! I'm so glad you survived and hope you make a full recovery.
  • Thanks Novus! Looking forward to the group chat. I hope the newlywed @bmeadows380 comes! Want to hear all about the wedding!

  • @VickyEltonGreen - Congratulations to your on hitting his goal weight. And yes, if he still wants to keep using MFP to log his food, he just will want to change his goal to "Maintain" and MFP will give him more calories back. He'll still want to carefully track his weight - I recommend daily for 6 weeks, but instead of…
  • @NovusDies - completely agree about process vs. thinking, motivation, willpower, etc. Over the last two years, I have come to realize that staying on track is all about process and adherence to process discipline. In my work, I do a lot of project management. When I started managing my fitness the way I would manage a…
  • Sent you a friend request. I'd note that I sent you one about a year ago.
  • Welcome Back @NovusDies ! Sending you best wishes for a speedy recovery. We missed your voice and your inspirations.
  • I just tried Quest Protein Chips (Chile and Lime Flavor) or the first time. They are surprisingly amazing! I had to order them from Amazon because I could not find them in stores near me. 20 g protein per bag. Only slightly less caloric than regular chips (120 cal per bag) - but really helpful if you want a crunchy snack…

  • @jazzadesigns - I took a day off of exercise after my second shot and guess what? Despite eating at maintenance that day I lost weight the next two days anyway. Sometimes your body just needs to rest. So taking a couple of days off to repair your body will probably help you in the long run - your muscles will have a chance…
  • How your relationship with safety pins will change: I used to never have enough safety pins around. I needed them to pin dresses shirts and blouses that buttoned up in the front to prevent the dreaded "gaposis". Now, my only use for safety pins is to pin my race bib to my shirt on race days.
  • For small metal chairs with arms. My husband and I went out to dinner tonight. Sat out on the patio where the chairs were small metal ones with arms, the kind that use to be incredibly painful to sit in - I used to have to sit on the edge just to save my hips. But no more. I fit with room to spare, 125 pounds later. I no…
  • @mmdeveau! So nice to have you back here! ❤ Congratulations on getting back on track with only a small gain. You'll be back at maintenance in no time. You know exactly what you need to do . And yes, that sexy pants article is a must read or anyone just starting out on this journey. Thanks for reposting it.
  • @misplacedmama - Truth! You really have learned a lot. So proud of your physical progress, but even prouder of the insights you have learned.

  • Hi Rich, Just came across this post and want to add how impressed I am with how you overcame such adversity to get to where you are today. I also have a similar problem with feeling hungry even when I am obviously full. I've always felt like my appetite didn't have an off switch. As though my appetite only had two modes -…
  • @VickyEltonGreen - I went back to a post from July 2019 - I was about 6 weeks into my restart of MFP and had just began posting on the Women 200lb+ post. This was about my disappointment that the scale wasn't moving like it was the first month of logging: I'm so surprised at how hard I was on myself! But I learned a lot…
  • @uyister - You look amazing! Thank you for posting before and after pics - so inspiring. 100 pound is a really, really big milestone. Few people have accomplished what you have accomplished. Congratulations!
  • @goal06082021 really excellent explanation of NEAT, TDEE and BMR reminded me of an article by Aadam from Physiqonomics. For those of you not familiar with his blog, I encourage you to check it out. This particular article called "The Truth About your Slow Metabolism" cuts through a lot of the bunk that is out there about…
