fibromyalgia and weight loss
I have fibro. It sucks on many levels, but I have learned over the years how to manage the disease. Weight loss will help and that is one of my motivations. Getting enough rest helps, too. So does eating right. I have lost 50 of the 70 lbs I need to lose to reach my goal of 140lbs. I have started weight training. They tell…

How active Am I?
SW 206 CW 147 GW 140 I work out an hour a day, 7 days a week, walking at 3.5 mph and strength training 3 days a week. I have a part time desk job and a part time job where I am on my feet for 5 hrs, 3 nights a week. I have things set up on here as lightly active. Should it actually be different? More active? Less active? I…

Any Women Over 50 Here Who Lift Heavy?
I would love some inspiration. Age: 53 Ht: 5'6" SW: 210 CW: 150 GW: 135 or 140 (depends on how I feel when I get there) I have been lifting light for a couple of months and walking since the beginning of my journey which I started just over a year ago. I did it on my own by exercising and counting calories. I stopped when…

60 lbs down, 7 to go, photos
SW 206 CW 147 GW 140 Height 5'6" Age 53 There aren't too many photos of me at my heaviest. I pretty much stopped letting people take my pic at that point. The one with the mid length blond hair with Joe Satriani I weighed around 195. The one with me playing with my band was probably around 190. At my heaviest I was 206,…

Is it possible to get a trainer....
for just one session? I just want to make sure my form is correct but I can't really afford to join a gym. I am mostly doing body weight strength training and some light weights so far. I HAVE been watching videos but I can see the benefit of a trainer.

If you need advice, motivation, or just someone to vent to, you are in absolutely the right place. As with any online community there is the occaisional troll but everyone else is so…

You really SHOULD take a photo
I didn't. I REALLY regret it. Especially since, because I hated the way I looked, I rarely let anyone take a pic of me when I was over 200lbs. Now I am 10 lbs from goal weight and the only photos I can find of me over 200 were shot when I was in the hospital in traction after a car accident. My face is covered in bruises…

How many calories did I REALLY burn?
According to mfp, a person of my height and weight (5'6" 153lbs) burns 115 calories walking for 30 min. at 3mph. According to livestrong and a couple of other places it's closer to 180. That's a pretty big difference. Big enough that I am questioning this and wondering about it, mainly because I have a history of doing…

Best exercise for lower abs
I'm not even dreaming that I can "spot reduce". I DO carry my weight around my middle. So far, I have lost 50 lbs and have 14 left to go. I started strength training this week. I've been walking every day for a little over a year. My lower abs are weak, but I also have a very stubborn pooch. Are there any really effective…

Ending the yo-yo dieting forever
Hi. I am new here. I have struggled with my weight my whole life. I have yo-yo dieted all over the place for the last 40 years or so. I did that to try and keep up in a profession that demands thinness and beauty. (Musician). But I retired from playing 5 years ago and got a day job behind a desk so of course I ballooned up…
