Help Reading a Label
Hello all! We had ribs for dinner tonight, but I'm struggling with counting it correctly. I'm attaching a picture of the nutritional information on the box. My husband and I split the package, so each had half. I would have expected my portion to be 445 calories (990 for the whole package, divided by two). However, I…

Tips for working at home
Hello all! I started a new job today, working from home full-time. My "office" is my kitchen table and I'm a little nervous about the proximity to snacks! I'm already planning a daily walk at lunch and have gotten rid of my trigger foods, so hopefully, I'm setting myself up for success! Do any others who work from home…

My First 5K Race
Over the summer, I finished C25K. As a celebration, I signed up for a race as motivation. As it turns out, that race is this weekend and I'm so not ready. I stopped running over the summer and just started back again last week. I started back at Week 3 of C25K, so this week, I'm on Week 4. I feel so unprepared and I'm…

Tailoring
Now that the fall is coming, I’m starting to pull clothes out of my closet that I had bought in the spring and finding they’re way too big. Some of these clothes still have tags on them or were only worn 3-4 times before the weather got too hot. Now, it seems a waste to get rid of them, so I’m considering getting them…

Choosing a goal weight - Am I being unrealistic or selling myself short?
As of this morning, I’m 5lbs away from a healthy BMI of 155. I think the last time I was around this weight was about 10 years ago when I was in university. At that time, I was actually 10-15 lbs below the top end of my BMI, weighing around 140-145. I still wasn’t completely happy with how I looked, but I was also in…

Offering Too Big Clothes to Family/Friends
I have a bunch of clothes that are too big for me. I’ve boxed them all up for Goodwill, but would really rather give them to someone who I know and could use them. However, I don’t know how to offer them to someone without being insulting. For instance, my sister-in-law (who I’m not all that close to) just had a baby and…

Switched step count devices and now won't re-sync with Fitbit
Yesterday, my Fitbit battery died midday, so I changed the step counter to my iPhone. Everything worked fine. Now that my Fitbit is recharged, I want to change the step counter back to it. Doesn't seem to work :( I've disconnected and re-connected my Fitbit to MFP. I've ensured (multiple times) that the Fitbit box is…

Counting Marinade
As I write this, there are pork chops marinating in my fridge to be grilled tonight. Does anyone have any advice on how to log the marinade? I will be tossing whatever is left in the bottom of the bowl once I take the pork chops out, so I don't think I should count the whole thing, right?

Does this FitBit calculation make sense?
I just posted this on another thread, but it will likely get buried. Are the MFP calorie and Fitbit calories supposed to be roughly the same? For instance, I have 60lbs to lose, female, 5'6", 35 years old and my MFP profile set to Sedentary so FitBit can do its thing. That gives me 1,200 calories. Yesterday, I actually ate…

RunDisney
I've been doing C25K for a weeks now and it's going well. Today, I signed up for a 5km race at Disney World! I'm so excited!

Difference between Sedentary and Lightly Active
I currently have my profile set to Sedentary, as per the recommendation for someone with a desk job. However, my step count is usually around 12,000 steps/day, which I'm thinking actually puts me more in the Lightly Active category. I was just playing around with the settings and changing from Sedentary to Lightly Active…

Tracking milk/sugar in coffee
I rarely make coffee at home and only drink it at work from the coffee shop in the building. They fix it for me based on my order of one milk (not cream), one sweetener. To date, I haven’t been logging these because milk in coffee seems insignificant, but I’ve come to realize that if I have 2-3 cups in a day, that milk can…

Copying diary entries
Is there any way that I can transfer any of my entries or recipes over to a friend’s account? Here’s the issue – My husband and I are on this weight-loss journey together. As the main cook in our house, I will often input a recipe into the recipe builder, figure out the calories per gram and then log it in my diary.…

Goal Clothes
The last time I lost a substantial amount of weight, I went a little crazy on the clothes shopping. I bought this one dress that I LOVED, but it was rather dressy and I didn’t have an opportunity to wear it. It even still has the tags on it. Fast forward several years and that dress is now sitting in the back of my closet…

Am I doing this right? Question re: Fitbit Calorie Adjustments
I currently have MFP set to lose 2lbs per week and my activity level to sedentary, so I get 1,200 calories per day. However, my FitBit will generally give me an extra 300-400 calorie adjustment a day, so, on a typical day, I eat around 1,400 or 1,500 calories. I’ve noticed that if I change MFP to lightly active, it gives…

When do you buy new clothes?
I'm still at the beginning of this journey having lost close to 10 pounds, but I would like to lose about 75 lbs overall. How long would you say it took to start to notice enough of a difference in your clothes that you had to buy new clothes? While I'm looking forward to shopping, I'm not looking forward to having to buy…

When to weigh food
This might be obvious to some, but I just want to double-check. When I'm weighing something, at what point in the 'process' should I be weighing? For instance, chicken. If I take one boneless chicken breast out of the freezer, I assume I don't weigh it frozen? Should I defrost it and then weigh it before cooking it? Or do…

Which food from the database?
I'm back on the MFP bandwagon (again!) and feel really committed to this. My husband laughs at my kitchen scale, but he won't be laughing when we both lose weight! So far, I've lost almost 7 pounds, but still another 60 to go (at least!). One thing I'm struggling with now though is knowing which of the million entries in…
