Silly newbie question about toning my body
8 weeks ago I had a esophagus surgery that had the lovely side effect of melting 25lbs from me! So now....what do I do with this jiggly stuff? I don’t yet have the endurance to do a whole beach body workout or other 20-30 min workout...is it possible to tone up all my jiggly bits if I do workouts in 10 minute increments,…

Weighing and logging.....forever??
Once you reach maintenance, how many still weigh and log everything? I'm hopeful that my end result will be a much better ability to eyeball portion sizes and calories as well as having a strong desire and personal accountability to keep moving forward, not backwards. Besides.....the thought of weighing/measuring and…

What is 'clean' eating??
I keep seeing references to 'eating clean'. What does this mean? I assume it means something different than washing my fruit and veg.

Under calorie goal due to illness, eat them back?
I spent yesterday laid up with some sort of virus/flu. I only ate roughly half of my 1200ca daily goal. I feel terrible again today, no appetite, I doubt I'll be eating much today. Once this passes, should I just carry on as normal or should I try to squeeze those missed calories in somewhere? Which brings up another…

Cutting calories in rice
I've read (from legitimate reliable sources) that you can cut the calories in rice by 50-60% if you add 3% coconut oil while cooking, then promptly refrigerating for at least 12hrs. Is this woo? Or can I safely log less calories for rice if I prepare it this way?

Food scale: weigh before or after cooking
I've been weighing prior to cooking, but I bought some chicken breasts from Costco (not impressed!) that must have been pumped with water. Before cooking, one breast weighed 9.3oz After cooking: 6.4oz Which weight should I be tracking?

Curious about OA (12 step fellowship)
I'm curious as to whether anyone has ever attended Overeaters Anonymous. I attend a different 12 step fellowship for another issue and have found some helpful parallels that I can use towards the mental-emotional aspects of food..... Just wondered if anyone has tried that venue?

Walden Farm products?
A gal at work recommended their line, as it is all zero calorie. Someone here posted a link to where I could purchase it online since I had trouble finding Walden Farms in our grocery stores.... I ordered quite a variety. Have you tried their products? Do you like them?

Structuring a 1200cal day
For those who are on 1200cal a day.....how do you structure your meals? 300 cal meals plus 3x100cal snacks? Is it different everyday.....? I've been (trying) to limit snacking so I can have a larger dinner....although not always possible with those delicious skinny cow treats in the freezer

Underactive thyroid and weight gain
Has anyone here been diagnosed with an under active thyroid? I got a call from my Dr's office yesterday with a referral appointment to an endocrinologist as my blood work showed my thyroid just ain't pulling its weight. Suddenly, all my symptoms made sense. I'm just wondering, if once medicated and my metabolism kicks back…

Weighing/measuring/counting.....for life?!
im getting pretty close to my goal....I've (fairly) diligently weighed and measured foods and counted all those calories. I've tried hard to make most of what I do, sustainable. I figure there's no sense making changes for weight loss that I will be unwilling or unable to maintain after the weight loss. I began at…

Have you found snack replacements for old favorites?
I easily polish off a bag of chips and dip in one mindless sitting. I've found a more nutritious replacement. I open a can of tuna, drain, sprinkle with vinegar and salt and pepper. Sometimes I add a bit of finely chopped jalapeño pepper. I count out or weigh a serving of Special K cracker chips. Those little chips are…

Tips for lowering sodium intake.
In short, I love salt! Always have, even as a little kid. But I'm trying to lose the 30lbs I gained from quitting smoking (year and a half ago) and I recognize that the excessive salt intake simply isn't good for me. Salt substitute? Ick. Tastes horrid. Any other ideas? Are there any seasonings/spices that will satisfy my…

Pretty sure I don't understand calorie adjustment
Hi folks. I'm pretty sure I'm not doing this right..... My goal is to lose the 30lbs I put on when I quit smoking last year. I'm 44yr old woman, 5ft 5", start weight was 154lbs. I set my calorie goal at 1200/day and I don't sway from that, no matter what I do in exercise. I try to get in a 5k walk (just over 3 miles)…
