Squats
So my trainer is pissing me off... she has one month to listen to what I want to work on. I have been with her for 3 months... my deadlifts have improved greatly, so has my bench and overhead press. My squat? Yea... I'm still struggling doing box squats with body weight... why? Because we haven't done any squatting in…

Help with activity level
I have a question about my settings... I'm starving at the 1700 calories I'm allowed a day and noticed since I dropped to 1700 from 1900 that I've been binging a lot more. I sit all day at work, but will be working out (lifting heavy training for a strength competition 4 days a week) these next two months and beyond for…

For the competitors
Hey there!!! Did my first strength challenge (strongman) this past Saturday and I didn't come in last! And man did I kill it! My deadlift 1 rep max was 205lbs going into it and I pulled 250lbs easily... not sure if it was the adrenaline pumping or what but if I had one more lift i could have easily done more. (I started…

2 month progress!!
so it's official.. I've been lifting for 2 months... and in these two months I'm so excited to see the progress. I started with a 60lb deadlift... i did 205 today. For OHP i could do the bar (45 lbs).. today 75 lbs. My bench press has gone up from the bar to 80 pounds and my squats still suck (broke both ankles back in the…

Long way to go
So i am currently down 19.2 pounds out of the 140 I need to lose. Here is the problem... I've lost and gained these 20 pounds over and over and over again. It's like my body doesn't want to be under 300 pounds. I've changed my calories around, I've changed my exercise around... it's not budging.. and it never has. I need…

OHP
When you're struggling with say the last 2 reps of a finishing set on OHP... is it acceptable to push press to get it up? I know it's not the same exactly.. or would it be better to fail? Or set the bar down and see if you could squeeze out the last two after a quick break?

Next 30 pounds
The next 30 pounds are such a mind screw for me. It's always where I give up, lose steam, have a mental block. Whatever you want to call it. I have now lost the first 30 pounds out of the 130 total I started with to lose probably 4-5 times. I'm actually pretty nervous I'm going to fail again. Here's to making it stick this…

Do you annoy people at the store?
Today the big slabs of salmon were $5.00 a pound. Really really good price as most of the times it's $8.00. So I had the butcher behind the counter cut up the slab in 5oz pieces which took a few minutes as the slab I chose was just over 4.5 lbs. He seemed to be annoyed with the request but there was no one near,…

Electrolytes
Hey there. My trainer recommended and gave my a packet body tech electrolyte fizz since I was sweating heavily during our hour lift session (was 95* and horrible humidity). It tasted like absolute crap. It doesn't help it was grape flavor and I can't stand grape. I wasn't able to choke it down so I don't even know if it…

soreness
so i've completed week two with a trainer learning how to lift! so far so great! question... my first work out was horrible the day after... think using the counter to get down to pee! granted I hadn't used these muscles in forever! Just had my 6th work out with her... and i'm not super sore anymore. Is this normal? i feel…

what made it different this time?
Hey there! I'm sure most of us have started this weight loss journey multiple times.. only to fail long term. I know I have ran out of fingers counting the times I have. What made it different this time for you? It feels different for me this time and I can't quite place why. The eating is easier (after week 3 now) and my…

Just committed to lifting
Hey there! So I don't need to gain weight... in fact I need to lose over 100 pounds... but I just committed to a personal trainer 3x a week for 2 months and I'm really excited. Thinking about throwing that scale out now and just getting me a measuring tape. Any advice to beat the frustration I'm sure I'll face when it…

New to MFP but not to dieting :(
I'm hoping this is the time that I'm able to finally lose the weight I so desperately need to. I'm nearly 330 pounds, and I need to be around 200 for a healthy weight (i'm 6'1). I'm always tired, I'm afraid of what my life will be if I don't lose the weight, and I'm afraid that I'll fail yet again to lose the weight. I've…
