Healthy Body Water %?
Does anyone out there have a smart scale that measures their Body Water Percentage? Any idea what percentage it should be? My scale (and I know they are not an exact science but it's given me some correlative data) consistently shows a body water % of 41-43.5%. I've noticed that when I dip below 43% my weight goes up ever…

Rest Days?
How often do you take a rest day? And what do you consider a "rest day"-complete break from workouts? A different workout? I'm guilty of not taking rest days and am going to try to force myself to take rest days this time around...but because I've always just plowed through my week and worked out every day I'm curious as…

Random thoughts...need motivation
I purposely have not logged in all week because I felt I needed a fresh start, and I haven't worked out all week either (that wasn't on purpose...homecoming week had me running all day every day and staying up late-those precious moments to sleep a little bit longer in the morning were much needed!). I've been saying for a…

Thoughts on Protein Powder for teens
Ok, so my son is 14 and playing high school football. He gets good workouts (cardio and weights) and eats fairly well (though I do have to push the fruits and veggies and am not as successful as I'd like). He wants to start using protein powders like many of the other boys on the team (ok...most)...I know NOTHING about…

Re-boot
The past 10 months have been so incredibly stressful for me...I changed positions at work, got a new supervisor who I clash with more often than not, lost my grandfather at 95 years old, almost lost my mother, lost my dear sweet dog who was 141/2, and have had medical issues myself that have kept me from maintaing my…

Spinal Injections-how long to rest?
This past Thursday I had 4 cortisone shots into my lower back to alleviate pain from 2 herniated discs. I obviously skipped my workout on Thursday, and Friday my back was still cramping quite I bit so I skipped that day too. Yesterday I considered working out but after a day in a gym where I was climbing stairs (no I…

New Shorts...size... ;)
Last August I wore a snug size 16. Today I bought a very comfortable (almost lose) size 8! I fit into a 6, but it was too snug for comfort. I don't think I've worn a size 8 since junior high!!!!!! So happy!

Right amount of calories but not enough food????
A friend of mine has been really frustrated because she's not losing the weight like she wants. So I was taking a close look at her diary and noticed a few things. 1. Yes, there are some days where she barely breaks 1000 calories (that's the first point to address) 2. There are very few fresh fruits or veggies 3. She's…

I'm "normal"
Since August 2nd I have traveled from "obese", through "overweight", and now today FINALLY I based on my bmi (which I know is just a number but still...) I am in the "normal weight" range! So excited! I have lost 43 pounds and only have about 28 more to go to my goal!!!!! Feeling great this morning!

Six Week Six Pack frequency
Just starting this workout-how often should I be doing it? Daily? Every other day?

Just an observation...
I'm laughing because a few weeks back friends were telling me how concerned they were for me, that I was losing too much weight, pushing myself too hard, getting too thin in my face...and that frustrated me...I wanted to ask them "Why is it okay for you to express your concerns now? Why weren't you worried about me when I…

NSV-Clothes!
I was at the mall this morning running an errand and decided I'd stop in and try on a pair of pants. I knew my size 16s that I started in were way to big, and the 14s I'm wearing are pretty baggy...so I figured I'd try a 12 on and see how that fit. Well-they only had a size 10 so I said "what the heck? why not?" And while…

Frustration with friends...
Wondering if anyone else has experienced this...I'm doing really well on this weight loss journey-I'm down 41 pounds in 4 months. The weight is coming off consistently, I'm still overweight, my doctor is pleased and says my goal weight is perfect, I still enjoy food-including eating out and my favorite sweets-just all in…

Feeling Guilty
Last night I went to bed really early-not feeling too well. My energy is zapped, I'm congested, and my throat hurts. Darn cold. So this morning when the alarm went off at 4 I just couldn't do it. I laid in bed until 4:50, and while I'm up now and on the elliptical I am feeling incredibly guilty that I won't get my full…

Ha! Silly NSV
So the last few weeks several people have noticed and commented on my weight loss. It's felt great. Lots of people have asked me "Does your ex say anything? Surely he must notice." Yet he hadn't. And I didn't really care...until he did! Last night he was picking up the kids and just nonchalantly commented "Your diet and…

Measurements Victory!
I've only been using MFP and seriously exercising since August but I started this journey back in January of 2011. Soooooo, since 1/9/11 I've lost a total of 18.75 inches! 4.25 from up top, 7 inches of that off my waist, and the remainder pretty evenly between my hips and thighs...no wonder my pants are falling down! LOL!…

NSV and SV together!
I'm thrilled to finally be losing this weight...down 26 pounds since August 2nd. I'm really hoping to lose the remaining 43 by my 40th bday in April-I know that's completely doable if I keep this up. My clothes are getting too big, in fact just a couple weeks ago I had to go buy a few pairs of pants for work and those are…

Two months today!
Today makes two months for me on MFP...I'm down 24 lbs and exercising more than I ever imagined I could! The inches are coming off and I feel wonderful!!!!!! I've got 45 lbs to go to my goal and I know I'll get there thanks to all of the support I receive here...just wanted to say thanks and tell everyone how much I am…

My first NSV victory!
So I told myself when I lost 20lbs (that's the scale victory part) I'd reward myself-wasn't sure with what though so I went shopping yesterday. I really did need some new clothes as the dress pants I'd been wearing to work were pretty stretched out and looking very frumpy. Turns out...they weren't stretched out at all! I…

Whoo hoo!
So excited, broke through a plateau today and have lost 19.2 lbs since starting MFP at the beginning of August...and actually 22.2 since my heaviest weight in July! I was not expecting it when I stepped on the scale today! It's working...it's really working!!!!! :)

Foot pain on the elliptical
Has anyone else experienced this? If so what can I do to fix it? Seems like after a certain amount of time on the elliptical machine the balls of my feet and some times my toes start to burn and hurt. I remember feeling this when I worked at at the gym several years ago too...what causes this? Any ideas what I can do to…

Silly question
What does NSV stand for? And where can I get one of those pictures that show a version of the person at their before and current weight? The ones that alot of people have in their signature?

Cardio or Strength? When to do both?
I've been focusing on just cardio for the past month with very good results-14 pounds down, and while I still have another 55 lbs to go I'm thrilled to finally be making a dent. I've read several posts here about some people just doing cardio until they get to their goal weight. I know that a few years back when I was…

Sugar from Fruit...all bad?
I expected when I started logging my food that carbs would be the issue-their not. In fat I'm under my carb allowance every day. It seems that sugar is the issue-which shouldn't have surprised me because I've always had a major sweet tooth. I'm really trying to cut out the junk, but am eating a lot of fruit which is still…

How many days?U
How often or how many days a week do you work out? Just seriously starting this journey (a journey I've been on for a while but not so seriously) and want to work out as much as possible without overdoing it. I'm mainly starting with cardio...and I feel GUILTY if I take a rest day, like that is going to set me back. I'd…
