Just an observation...

I'm laughing because a few weeks back friends were telling me how concerned they were for me, that I was losing too much weight, pushing myself too hard, getting too thin in my face...and that frustrated me...I wanted to ask them "Why is it okay for you to express your concerns now? Why weren't you worried about me when I was fat? HUH?"
Well...these same friends just told me yesterday that they admire me for all my hard work...c'mon folks-make up your mind!

It isn't PC to tell someone you are worried because they are too fat unless you're the parent, and even then it is risking the relationship. For some reason telling people they are too thin or losing too much weight doesn't carry the same negative connotations so people are more inclined to do it. There has been a lot of media coverage of eating disorders over the past couple of decades too, so people sometimes jump to the conclusion that you've become anorexic or bulimic if you lose a bunch of weight.0

Ughhh, those kind of comments are really getting to me. The next time my BFF tells me I'm looking anorexic I'm going to explode! I truly look forward to everyone getting used to the new me and stop commenting all the time.0

I agree, very annoying.
It's almost more irritating to me when they gush about how good I look, like they thought I looked wretched before. That type of reaction only reinforces society's standards.
Sometimes I think the critisim is a defense mechanism of the person saying it. You losing weight might make them uncomfortable with their own weight. Its tough to be the biggest girl in the room and that person may be finding themself to be the new "big girl" and they don't like it. You also get more attention now, which could be threatening to your friends. Your social position within your group of friends can change when you make a transformation. And not everyone welcomes change.0
