MFP'ers: Recommend me a bathroom scale.
My el-cheapo Taylor bathroom scale seems to be wildly imprecise. I can step on, step off, step on again, and see a 5-lb difference. So, What are you using, and would you buy it again?

Speed Master HRM
So, I added a Speed Master HRM from Amazon to my Chirstmas wish list, which my lovely wifey happily purchased for me. I licked the sensor pads, strapped it on, and went for a run. No dice. Heart rate of zero for the entire time. I tried it with the sensor upside-down on my back, in case it was a hair problem. No dice. I…

Running vs. Treadmill: My Observation
With a break in the cold, I decided to go run outside today (yay!) instead of on the treadmill at the gym. Strangely, I found that I ran a faster pace (9-10 min/mile) outdoors than in the gym, where I feel like I'm crushing myself to hold an 11 minute mile pace at 4% incline. I just thought that was funny, since most of…

Dammit!
I went for a run late tonight, around 8:00 PM. Just as I was at the end of first 3 minute run of the W4 workout, I found a chunk of wood on the sidewalk that I didn't see in my headlamp. I found it by stepping on it with my right foot and rolling my ankle WAY over. Ouch. I managed to limp home and immediately started RICE,…

MTB Photo/Stoke Thread

NSV for 11/10/11
So I was talking with wifey last night, and she said to me, "Is everything OK?". "Sure", I replied, "Everything's fine. Why?" "You just seem different lately." "Is it because I'm less pissy about things and not jumping down everybody's throat all the time?" I asked. "Yep." "Get used to it." was my answer. :)

Just how inaccurate are "calories burned"
I've been noticing lately that some of the fitness activities (for me, it;s the "Bicycling, 14-16 mph, vigorous (cycling, biking, bike riding)) activity listed in MFP's tables have a higher calorie burn rate than I expected to see. I know the only really accurate way to measure is with a good HRM, but dag nab it, I just…

Workout NSV
I've never been much of a runner: I'm more of a lumberer than a runner. I've done C25K before, but eventually stopped running because it was too hard on my knees. Recognizing that fact, I bought a bike this spring and started mountianbiking again after about a decade off the bike. I remembered why I loved the sport, and…

November 1 NSV of the day
That's my wedding ring. I haven't been able to take it off for a couple of years. Woot!
