Handy Hints
Just like to pass on a couple of things I do to make life easier and hopefully others will share their ideas as well. As I have just started eating some cereal for breakfast sometimes (Special K fruit & nut medley) I find it easy to weigh out the cereal and put in ziplock bags. Then its just easy to measure the milk when…

Logging your foods
As its such a pain to alter your recipes in MFP (when you use more or less ingredients you can only delete them and reenter the adjusted amount instead of being able to click on the item and adjust) I have decided I will just take an average of the recipes I have entered and use this each day as quick added calories for my…

FYI - (From the New Zealand Herald) Trying to cut down on salt? Health officials have come up with a list of the top 10 sources of salt in the American diet - and bread is number one. The Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) says just 10 foods account for 44 per cent of the sodium in the American diet. Salt is…

What to do with Tofu? (for a lasagne type dish)
Hi Does anyone have a recipe for a Tofu lasagne type dish. I have bought a block and made some fresh tomato sauce (Italian style with herbs). My idea was to have a lasagne but not sure what to do with the tofu - do I marinate it, fry it before adding to the dish? I want to add spinach and Parmesan to the dish as well.

Changing Meal Names
Not sure what category this should be under but a little tip for MFP users that I have found works for me I have in my food diary the 'normal' breakfast, lunch and dinner' but added two more options Drinks/tea/coffee/wine and Snacks/Fruit. South African
Vegetarian Bobotie This is based on a South African dish - Bobotie (Pronounced ba-boor-tea). It is usually made with spiced minced meat with an egg based topping. This is a tasty vegetarian version. If you don't have all the spices it does not matter. Adjust to your taste. It seems like a long list but it is a very tasty…

Italian Recipes
Ribollita - Baked Tuscan Casserole Ribollita is a tasty bean soup, from Tuscany. My version is more like a casserole as it is baked in the oven. If you want it as a soup just add more stock and don't worry about putting in the oven, just serve with toast. Has about 220 calories per serve (dependent on how much cheese)…
