Backpack for work AND gym - recs?
Next year my office is moving downtown and will have a fitness center in the new building. So I'll be taking the train (about a mile walk to/from the office), and plan to join the gym in the building. I plan to wear my workout clothes to work and exercise in the morning. Starting to look for a good bag to accommodate both…

Natural Nut butters
Just wondering if anyone has any genius tips for making the stirring of a brand new jar of natural nut butter a little less messy. Or maybe it's just me? I use a fork to try and stir the whole jar as best as I can and oil always spills out the top. Clearly I am doing something wrong!

Tips to stay motivated?
Now that I am 4 months postpartum, I *need* to start taking weight loss seriously. I am currently the heaviest I've ever been. As much as I know how important it is for me to lose weight, I still have a hard time staying on plan. I tried not tracking and just making healthy choices but it didn't work at all, so I am back…

Practical advice for a working mom
Hi all, I'm looking for some practical tips. I'm a new mom, I've recently returned to work full time. I'm away from home 7am - 6pm everyday, so when I do get home the last thing I want to do is exercise, because I've been away from my baby all day. She goes to sleep around 7:30 then it's dinner and getting things ready for…

Should I *not* enter breastfeeding cals?
I started my pregnancy overweight (180 lbs 5'5" and 36 yo) and gained 45 lbs. At 7 weeks pp I've lost 25 lbs. I've set the app to sedentary and to lose 1 lb a week so my calorie goal is about 1900. Given this large amount, should I just not enter the extra calories for breastfeeding? I am EBF. Don't want to hurt my supply,…

Is it ok to eat at a deficit if you're overweight and pregnant?
I recently found out I'm pregnant, about 6 week along now. I am 36, 5'5", about 184 lbs. I was doing TDEE - 500 calories before I got pregnant which usually put me around 1600-1800 depending on how active I was that day. I don't think creating big deficits is something I should keep focusing on, or is it still ok to do…

Full fat Fage Greek yogurt
tastes significantly better than 2% or 0%. I've just had this revelation and needed to share it. I've been forcing myself to eat 2% or 0%, mixing in everything from peanut butter to chocolate protein powder to honey, in an effort to make it edible. Finally tried the full fat variety, it's life-changing.

Fitbit vs. online calc TDEE
First I'll give my stats. 36 y/o female, 5'5", 185lbs, 38% BF. I have a 9-5 deskjob. I wear a Fitbit and try to get close to 10k steps a day, most days land in the 7k range. I do bootcamp 2x a week, I try to go for a jog a couple times a week. I admit that lately, my exercise dedication has been mediocre and that's one of…

What do you add to your greek yogurt?
I like to buy the large plain Fage 2% for cost and I don't love the fruit jelly on the side. Problem is, I can't eat it by itself. I've added sunflower seed butter, honey, blueberries and Ekeziel cereal (not at the same time!) - just read someone's suggestion to mix in some protein powder and let it sit in the fridge to…

Best way to sell your bike
Hello group! I hope you don't mind my visiting but I'm hoping for opinions. My future hubby is selling his Harley, or at least trying to - posted an ad on Craigslist but it's hard to stand out among the hundreds of other bikes for sale. Harley owners seem to be a tight group - does anyone know of a forum or a better way to…

Calf soreness with new running shoes
I've been a runner for years now, with a marathon, 3 half marathons and countless 10k/5k under my belt. I've been running in Nike Air Pegasus for as long as I can remember, but when I bought my new shoes recently I went with Brooks Ghost. I noticed after my first run with them (only 25 minutes long) that I experienced a…

Finding out accurate calorie count when measuring foods
Frequently when someone posts that they are not losing weight, people will respond that they must not be measuring their food accurately - for example, they say every single day you log one 100 gram banana, but how can you always be eating the same sized banana? I personally am not too concerned or convinced that something…

Whole30 party/bbq suggestions?
I'm going to a Memorial Day bbq this weekend and the hostess is on the Whole30 plan (although I think she's on Day 100 by now). I want to bring something that she'll eat - other than throwing together a fruit or veggie salad, does anyone know of any clever recipes that are Whole30 (or even Paleo) friendly, and good for a…

Chicago Marathon 2012
Any western suburbanites running the Chicago Marathon this year? I'm registered to run for RMHC - just wondering if anyone has found a running club to train with? I'm using Hal Higdon't Novice training program. http://www.halhigdon.com/training/51137/Marathon-Novice-1-Training-Program
