Office workers - how many steps per day do you average?
I've been wearing my garmin for about a month or so now and I average around 8000 a day, provided I am able to take a 30 min walk at lunch. On good days, I can break 10k. How do you get the extra steps in when you're at a desk all day?

What are your mid-range goals?
I have 2 mid-range goals right now. My exercise accountability buddy is training for a 50k run this spring. She's half my age, more than half my weight and 10x in better shape than I am so I decided that I would do 1/10th of what she's doing and work up to a 5k hike. Also, I've always wanted to try snowshoeing and told…

Need friends ready to start fresh.
Is there anyone interested in friending me and starting fresh on Monday (10/3)? Years ago, when I first started MFP I had a friend with the same log in count as me and it became a friendly competition, motivating each of us to log on every day because we didn't want to let the other person down or let them win! I'm very…

Upcoming surgery, but not the kind I was expecting.
On 6/28, I dislocated my knee and meet with the surgeon to discuss my options tomorrow. I've been off my feet since the accident. The kicker is that my 1st appt with the bariatric surgeon was scheduled for 6/30. I had to reschedule that for mid August.

Just starting Dr monitored diet
Hi everyone, I'm in my first month of the Physician monitored diet and it'll be another 6 weeks before my first meeting with the surgeon. I'm 99% positive that I'll be doing the sleeve surgery unless the surgeon convinces me on the Y bypass. I just wanted to pop in and say hi and check out some of your successes and hints.…

Meals on the go?
Starting next week, I'll be taking a class that meets two nights a week and I won't have time to eat dinner. Basically, I'll be stopping at home, changing clothes and walking right back out the door. I don't want to rely on fast food and I don't want to eat sandwiches the whole time. Does anyone have any suggestions on…

Lenten Fish Fries - Which is less bad?
With Lent starting today, every church and volunteer fire department in the area will be having Friday fish fries. In my area, this means 2 8oz cod fillets, dipped in batter and deep fried. Most places also offer a baked version - same amount of fish baked in butter. My wife and I will split a dinner, but which do you…

Mini NSV
I'm down a notch on my belt! Really a half notch. The notch I am in now was a little too tight last week and the other one was a little too loose. Now I am very comfortable in the one that was a little too tight!

Scale fluctuations
Last week, just for kicks, I did a little experiment over a 3-day period. I weighed myself at night just before bed and again the next morning as soon as I got up. Over 3 days, I had a 6 pound fluctuation and as much as 3 pounds over night. The fluctuations were both positive and negative. I'm posting this for the people…

Apples make me hungrier - why?
If I am hungry and eat an apple, in 20 minutes I am hungrier than I was before eating the apple! If I have some peanut butter or cheese with the apple I'm fine, I just can't eat an apple by itself. Any idea why? It kind of bugs me because I really like apples...

Back to MFP
Hi all, I've just "returned" to MFP although I never used the forums the first time around... My ultimate goal is to lose 170-180 pounds. I know how to do it, I just need to physically do it. My biggest problem is sticking to a program and keeping the weight off. Around 5 years ago, I started a routine and over the course…
