I hope everyone is doing great! I just wanted to share this. I was contact by the editor of a Magazine named Beyond Limits before I did the Ironman. They asked if I would write an article for them about my journey w/ MS. It was published last week. If anyone is interested in reading it - please feel free to share w/ your…

Why do I smell ammonia after working out?
This morning is the 2nd time I noticed it. Tuesdays I usually swim in the early morning, eating a banana and a tsp of peanut butter on the way to the pool. I usually have a 1/2 bottle of Acceleratoraid while swimming and a bottle of water on the way home. I come home, get the kids off the school and usually eat breakfast…

How many here have podiumed?
This year will be my 3rd year doing tri's. I'll call it my 2nd "real" year, the first year was all experimental and just learning the ropes. It seems that my age group (40-45) is one of the hardest out there. Last year, I started in the Master Clydesdale division, and did my last 2 races as age group. My best finish was…

My new suit
As some of you man know, this year, I have made it my goal to train for an finish an Ironman. I have been in contact w/ Epix gear (who I have a tri suit from already and love) and they have helped customized a suit for me this year. Although they couldn't sponsor me (which would have been great) they have agreed to donate…

26lbs lost - 10 to go
Like alot of people here - my weight has been an up and down roller coaster ride. Today I weighed in at 190lbs. I honestly cannot remember the last time I weight this. (When I woke up - it was 189!!) In any case - turned out to be just an awesome day all around. It got me a little nostalgic and I started going thru some…

What do you want for dinner? The ultimate question!
I hate that freaking question! So Id like to give something a shot. For the most part Im the cook of the house - I love to cook. That being said, I need some ideas of what to cook tonight - It will be Myself, My wife, and my 3 kids. First one to respond to this thread with a meal - thats whats I'm cooking for dinner (I'll…

Is it beneficial to sweat?
I guess what I mean is, if I run for say 15 mins on the tread mill in shorts and a tank top, or if I run for 15 mins in sweat pants and a sweat shirt, will the calorie burn be different? Obviously you will sweat a lot more in the sweat pants and shirt vs the tank top and shorts. Just curious.

Frustrated but not disappointed
Here is the issue in a nutshell, and I have read enough of these posts to know that its ok, but that f&*#in scale has not moved in almost 3 weeks. And I'm not really sure why. I have been busting my *kitten* at the gym or doing something at home (running or biking) to the tune of about 600 cals burned a day if not more.…

Sweet Potato Goodness
I will admin - I have never been a sweet potato fan. That is until now. Bought 2 of them - medium size. First one - just cut it into quarters length wise. Put in the oven at 400 for about 20 mins. Then brushed a very light coat of olive oil on them. Spring very lightly with a mixture of cinnamon and sugar (less than a tsp)…

Let me pre Well today after an *kitten* kicking 60 min spin class, I jumped on the treadmill for a 15 min run and I completed my first sub 10 min mile since my knee surgery in December. 9:55 - I am so freaking psyched. Huge goal for me. That and I just realized that am also down almost 20 lbs from my race weight of my…

Stupid question - pull ups or chin ups?
Yes - stupid question - but are these the same thing? If not - whats the difference? Do they use different muscle sets? Is one easier than the other? I'm setting a goal to be able to do 10 of these by the end of march in 60 seconds. ( I can currently do 3 - gripping the bar w/ my palms facing me) Pretty open ended question…

There are days that i really need that extra support. I can also be very inspirational as well, so if you need that feel free to add me as a friend as well. tnx Rob

Options for breakfast drinks (Juice)
Hello all, First let me say - I LOVE breakfast. And I love a nice big glass of OJ with my eggs (ok 1 egg and 1 egg white on an english muffin) in the morning. The thing thats killing me is that 1 glass is as many calories as the rest of the meal I'm eating. Just curious if anyone else has any options?

Get the family involved
Just up front - not associated w/ the group mentioned below in anyway. We did a few of these last year and it was a blast. This is kind of huge motivation for me - last year we decided to do a family adventure race. Kids in training (http://www.kidsintraining.org/) has what is called a family adventure race. Its a family…
