Does "fruit sugar" count towards your daily sugar intake?
I have issues with sugar...don't we all :) I eat lots bananas, sweet potatoes, blueberries, etc. All "healthy" sugars, right? But just by logging 1 banana, a cup of blueberries, and a sweet potato, I use up all my "sugar grams" for the day. (It's like 32 or something.) Does that REALLY mean I shouldn't be having ANY more…

going over/under on protein
today I had 45 g of protein...roughly, and i was supposed to get 58. but yesterday I had 89 g...I was supposed to get 60 (I earned extra through exercise) so would it matter that I was deficient today in protein? like, do macros carry over from one day to the next, or should I be trying to get them as accurate as possible…

Ice Cream Vs. Frozen Yogurt
I've always been confused about this - what exactly is the difference? Also, why do people say that Frozen Yogurt is better than ice cream? I know there's something about "probiotics" with fro-yo...but after all the processing and artificial sweetener I don't see how it's any better than regular ice cream. Some people say…

when does the "calorie clock" restart?
I know it doesn't strictly have to be the same every day. But this is a weird (ish) situation. So at 3 AM, earlier this morning, I was still awake, doing work. And then I had kind of a giant snack. (I mean like, almost 1000 calories. This put me at like 1200 over my goal...I know, this is so undisciplined haha) And I…

do you HAVE to eat after a workout...?
I ate a TON of carbs 1 hour beforehand. (2 slices of pizza and a honey pastry...yeah, not the healthiest.) and my workout was kind of intense...but it was only 10 minute interval sprints, and I'm not hungry. at all. so would I really have to eat afterwards? I hear that it's good for you to "replace glycogen" and all that,…

1200 calories minimium - what exactly does this mean?
When MFP says "we suggest increasing your intake to 1200 calories minimum"...(on a day if I've eaten less than that), does that mean my net has to be 1200? or do I just have to eat 1200 (but I can burn off and not replace it) basically, say, if you eat 1400 calories a day, and you burn 400 of it off. the net is not 1000 -…

egg substitutes for vegans?
What's a good "egg substitute" for vegans? Like, I've heard of people subbing Tofu and pumpkin, but if I say, randomly put in a 1/2 cup of pumpkin instead of 2 eggs in say, a pancake recipe, won't that taste weird?... I'm looking for something that actually "cooks" the same way as eggs - like, things that won't mess up the…

is low fat dieting that good for you...
for some reason, a lot of my friends go into this craze about "low fat dieting" = "lose weight and be healthier." but is that really the case? because weight gain is due to CALORIES, not fat...right? I mean, everyone needs certain fats, like omega 3's, monounsaturated, polyunsaturated, etc...stuff you get from nuts,…

why is eating 1000-1200 calories at a time bad?
I know people are supposed to space their calories out during the day better than that haha. but today during dinner I ended up eating like 1100 calories within 3 hours. I was so busy all day that I barely had time to eat a thing. (before dinner, I had eaten a total of like 400-500 calories and i was starving by the time I…

am i sedentary or lightly active?
this is my usual schedule: 6:30 - wake up, have breakfast...I usually do a few minutes of dishwashing/kitchen cleaning in the morning. then I have my classes during the day from 8-3ish. I don't exactly 'sit' all day and do nothing, I get up and walk around for maybe 3 minutes at a time, about 8 times during the day. then…

Elliptical calories? Please help!
According to MFP, if I go on the elliptical for 40 minutes, I only burn about 250 calories. I know it doesn't account for resistance or speed, but still...when I enter weight and age on the elliptical at the gym, it says I burn almost 400 calories in 40 minutes. That still seems a little high though...what's the best way…

can calories 'carry over?'
For instance, if I went 200 calories under my goal yesterday, and 100 over today, than would I essentially be able to eat 100 more today without my weight/metabolism/nutritition/etc. being affected? or does it go on a day-to-day basis only?

maintenance/metabolism slowed?
For like the past 6 weeks, I've been on around 1000 net calorie diet. I ate way more than that, but I was doing like 1.5 hours of cardio and strength training a day. (like 3-4 mile run, P90X-type workout, intense ab stuff, and weight training). Now I want to switch to maintenance mode, because I don't want to lose more…
