going over/under on protein

today I had 45 g of protein...roughly, and i was supposed to get 58.
but yesterday I had 89 g...I was supposed to get 60 (I earned extra through exercise)
so would it matter that I was deficient today in protein? like, do macros carry over from one day to the next, or should I be trying to get them as accurate as possible every day?

For protein I would suggest aiming to go over the goal as often as possible. MFP sets the protein goals far too low as a default for some reason. A higher amount of protein is not a bad thing unless you have kidney issues.0
